A compact beam-steering lens design appropriate for millimeter-wave and submillimeter-wave applications is experimentally verified with an X-band test model. The lens achieves coupling to plane-wave beams through arrays of patch antennas placed on its two outer surfaces. The isolation between input and output antennas is accomplished by inserting a metal ground plane in the middle of the lens. The two closest patch antennas on the front and the backside are connected together with microstrip circuits that include switched-line phased shifters and interconnecting vias through the lens substrate. Three different X-band 100-element plane-wave microstrip lenses that use passive delay lines instead of actual phase-shifters were fabricated to successfully demonstrate the beam-steering angles of 20 and 40 degrees. From a separate waveguide measurement on the unit-cell element only, the insertion loss of the lens was estimated to be approximately 3.5 dB with bandwidth of 2% at 10 GHz. 相似文献

A magnetic fringe-field effect has been investigated for a simple bilayer device structure consisting of a Co0.9Fe0.1 film and an epitaxial YBa2Cu3O7−δ (YBCO) film patterned as a microbridge. The resistance of the bridge is measured with a four-probe technique and is found to depend on the orientation of a magnetic field, which is externally applied in the device plane. A maximum (minimum) of the resistance occurs when the magnetic field is applied in parallel (perpendicular) to the bridge axis. The difference between the maximum and the minimum is very large for a small range of temperature below the critical temperature of the YBCO film. The observed features in the resistance are qualitatively explained by vortex motion in the YBCO bridge under the influence of the magnetic fringe-field of the Co0.9Fe0.1 film. 相似文献

To improve the cycle performance of the thick Sn electrode of 10 μm thickness, the Sn–C composite electrodes were fabricated by co-electrodeposition with two kinds of carbon particles which were the graphite and the acetylene black. The acetylene black particles were well dispersed in the Sn matrix more than the graphite particles. The carbon content in the Sn–C composite electrodes was measured about 12% of the graphite and 16% of the acetylene black particles. Even though carbon content of the Sn–acetylene black electrode was not significantly higher than that of the Sn–graphite electrode, the cycle performance of the Sn–acetylene black electrode was much higher than that of the Sn–graphite electrode. This demonstrates that the ‘buffering effects’ of well dispersed acetylene black particles was larger than that of the graphite particles. The cycle performance of the Sn–acetylene black electrode was significantly improved by the aging treatment. 相似文献

Mechanical characterization of protein molecules has played a role on gaining insight into the biological functions of proteins, because some proteins perform the mechanical function. Here, we present the mesoscopic model of biological protein materials composed of protein crystals prescribed by Go potential for characterization of elastic behavior of protein materials. Specifically, we consider the representative volume element (RVE) containing the protein crystals represented by C(alpha) atoms, prescribed by Go potential, with application of constant normal strain to RVE. The stress-strain relationship computed from virial stress theory provides the nonlinear elastic behavior of protein materials and their mechanical properties such as Young's modulus, quantitatively and/or qualitatively comparable with mechanical properties of biological protein materials obtained from experiments and/or atomistic simulations. Further, we discuss the role of native topology on the mechanical properties of protein crystals. It is shown that parallel strands (hydrogen bonds in parallel) enhance the mechanical resilience of protein materials. 相似文献

The possibility of sampling the free and particle‐bound concentrations of organic compounds was studied using two different sampling techniques at the same time: needle trap device (NTD) and solid‐phase microextraction (SPME). In this study, a mosquito coil was used to produce gaseous (free) and particle‐bound compounds. Allethrin, the active ingredient in mosquito coils, was chosen as the target analyte. Under the same sampling conditions, the amount of allethrin extracted from the mosquito‐coil smoke was higher for the NTD compared to the SPME fiber, while the extracted amounts were almost the same for both devices when sampling gaseous samples of allethrin. These results can be explained by the fact that the SPME fiber can only extract free molecules (based on diffusion), whereas the NTD, an exhaustive sampling device, collects both free and particle‐bound allethrin. Breakthrough for NTD and carryover for both NTD and SPME were negligible under the given sampling and desorption conditions. 相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate the light focusing by negative refraction in a photonic crystal slab superlens at wavelengths lambda of 1.26-1.42 microm. The photonic crystal slab was fabricated on silicon-on-insulator substrate with an interface structure optimized for low reflection and diffraction losses. The light focusing in the photonic crystal slab was clearly observed through the intentional out-of-plane radiation or scattering of guided light in the slab. The minimum focused spot width was limited to 1.8 microm(1.4 lambda) owing to aberrations. The focusing characteristics were in good agreement with those obtained from photonic band and finite-difference time-domain analyses. 相似文献

Using in situ high-resolution synchrotron x-ray scattering, the Curie temperature TC has been determined for ultrathin c-axis epitaxial PbTiO3 films on conducting substrates (SrRuO3 on SrTiO3), with surfaces exposed to a controlled vapor environment. The suppression of TC was relatively small, even for the thinnest film (1.2 nm). We observe that 180 degrees stripe domains do not form, indicating that the depolarizing field is compensated by free charge at both interfaces. This is confirmed by ab initio calculations that find polar ground states in the presence of ionic adsorbates. 相似文献
