In this study, a second-moment closure model and an algebraic stress and flux model are used to simulate the turbulent dispersion
from an elevated line source located in a turbulent boundary layer. In the modeling of the Reynolds stress equation, several
models for the triple velocity correlation are examined by comparing their predicting results with the direct numerical simulation
data. Predicted mean and fluctuating correlation quantities of velocity and temperature by the second-moment closure model
and the algebraic model are compared with the experimental data. From the comparisons, it is found that the second-moment
closure is capable of reproducing the experimental results satisfactorily. However, predictions of the algebraic stress and
flux model are quite poor.

The control of the morphology of nanostructured particles prepared by the spray drying of nanoparticle sol was investigated experimentally and the results are qualitatively explained based on available theory. A theoretical analysis indicates that the structural stability of the droplet and the hydrodynamic effects during the drying process play important roles in controlling the morphology of the resulting particles. The size of the sol in the droplet, droplet size, viscosity of droplet, drying temperature, gas flow rate, and addition of surfactant are all crucial parameters that affect the morphology of particles. Experimentally, nanostructured silica particles were prepared from a nanosize silica sol under various preparation conditions. Doughnut-shaped particles can be produced when the droplet size is large, in conjunction with high temperature, high gas flow rate and in the presence of an added surfactant. Appropriate choice of the spray drying method permits control of the particle size and shape, ranging from spheres to ellipsoids as well as doughnut-shaped particles by varying the preparation conditions. The results open a new route to controlling the formation of a wide variety of nanostructured particles. 相似文献

The stable structure of clean Si(0 0 1) surface around 100 K is the c(4 × 2) arrangement constructed by buckled dimers. This structure was widely accepted as the ground state in 1990’s. The view was challenged at the beginning of 2000’s by the observations of a p(2 × 1) structure below 20 K with scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). Recent experimental studies confirm that the dimer is buckled below 30 K. Large tip–surface interaction, and/or tunneling current induced dynamical effect are now experimentally evident in the STM images at low temperatures. Moreover, a current induced structure transformation is discovered below 40 K even in the study by low energy electron diffraction. Dynamical electronic and vibrational effects are theoretically studied for accounting the observation of a p(2 × 1) structure below 20 K. 相似文献

Adhesive effect of low density polyethylene (LDPE) gels in organic solvents such as decalin, tetralin, ando-dichlorobenzene on high density polyethylene (HDPE) moldings has been investigated by shearing tests, electron microscopy, and DSC measurements. When heated at 110°C for 2 h, all of the gels showed strong adhesive strengths around 30 kg/cm2, which is sufficiently strong for practical uses. It has been found that the adhesive strength increases with the heating temperature and that the temperature at which the heated gel begins to exhibit the adhesive effect depends upon solvents and is about 30° lower than that of the HDPE gels. 相似文献

A method is described for fast dual-column separation of pesticides by use of dual low thermal mass gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (dual LTM-GC–MS) with different temperature programming. The method can provide two total ion chromatograms with different separation on DB-5 and DB-17 in a single run, which allows improved identification capability, even with short analysis time (<17 min). Also simultaneous detection with MS and elemental selective detector, e.g. pulsed flame photometric detection (PFPD) was evaluated for fast dual-column separation of 82 pesticide mixtures including 27 phosphorus pesticides. Tanaka and Fillmore treated the swelling of a gel as a process where a crosslinked polymer network having been initially under uniform stress is expanded by osmotic pressure, sucking up the surrounding fluid medium. We point out that their physical reasoning is unnatural and leads to an unacceptable conclusion; we propose a more sound approach to the same problem. Our treatment assumes that the gel network is extended not by the osmotic pressure of the gel, but rather by the swelling pressure which is generated by the excess fluid penetrating in against the real nature of a polymer network that tends to shrink. The diffusion equation of the fluid, hence, plays a dominant role and gives the distribution of fluid concentration in contrast to Tanaka-Fillmore's scheme. The expression for the distribution of local strain in a spherical gel is deduced from the relation of mechanical balance between two forces, the one is due to the elasticity of the network and the other due to the gradient in the chemical potential of the fluid.
