Novel reactions of arylmalonate carbanions. The reaction with phenyl isocyanate resulting in carbamates by 1,3-C→N migration of the ethoxycarbonyl group

The reactions of carbanions of diethyl phenyl and 4-nitrophenylmalonates with phenyl isocyanate occur with 1,3-C→N migration of the ethoxycarbonyl group to form the corresponding adducts. The introduction of NO₂ groups into the benzene ring of arylmalonates inhibits the reaction. Dedicated to Academician V. A. Tartakovsky on the occasion of his 75th birthday. Unusually ready hydrolysis of nitrile groups in 1,1,2,2-tetracyanoethane by pyruvic acid

A scheme for the unusually ready selective hydrolysis of three of the cyano groups in 1,1,2,2-tetracyanoethane to 2-cyanoethane-1,1,2-tricarboxamide by the action of pyruvic acid was proposed. Only one cyano group undergoes hydrolysis in the reaction with sodium pyruvate. In the course of this reaction, 2-amino-5-methyl-3, 4-dicyano-4,5-dihydrofuran-4,5-dicarboximide, the structure of which was determined by x-ray diffraction investigation of the monocrystal, is formed. Rh(I) carbonyl carboxylato complexes: Spectral and structural characteristics. Some reactions of coordinated formate group

Complexes [Rh(µ-RCOO)(CO₂)]₂ , where R = H, CH₃,CF₃ (I, II, III, respectively) are synthesized by reacting anhydrous carboxylic acids with Rh(Acac)(CO₂) crystals. In compounds I, II, III, and trans-Rh(RCOO)(PPh₃)₂(CO), where R = H, CH₃, CF₃ (IV, V, VI, respectively), (CO) and ¹J(CRh) increase and ¹³C decreases with the increasing electronegativity of R (CH₃ < H < CF₃). In the case complexes IV, V, and VI, the values of ³¹P and ¹ J(PRh) decrease in the same order. Complexes I and V are studied by X-ray diffraction analysis. Intramolecular (2.946 Å) and intermolecular (3.127 Å) Rh-Rh distances in a columnar structure I are close, i.e., the structure contains infinite chains of metal atoms. Interaction of IV with chlorinated solvents results in trans-RhCl(PPh₃)₂(CO). When heated with an excess of PPh₃ in propanol-2, compound IV transforms to HRh(PPh₃)₃(CO). Aminals in the synthesis of 1,3-substituted propargylamines and 3H-2-vinylidene-3-aminobenzofuran derivatives

Synthesis and Cation Transfer Properties of Alkyl Calix[4]Aryl Phosphates. A New Series of Molecular Receptors

Abstract

Synthesis, structure and metal ion extraction ability of the new series of host molecules: alkyl calix[4]arylphosphates, are discussed.     

Synthesis of pyrrolidine and tetrahydroazonine derivatives from <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-[bis(ethoxycarbonyl)methyl]tetrahydropyridinium bromide and methyl acetylenedicarboxylate

The reaction of N-methyl-N-(diethoxycarbonyl)methyltetrahydropyridinium bromide with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in the presence of triethylamine at room temperature afforded 1,2-dimethyl 1-ethyl 2-[(3-vinyl-1-methyl-3-phenyl-2-ethoxycarbonyl)pyrrolidin-2-yl]-ethene-1,1,2-tricarboxylate in 25% yield. Its structure was proved by XRD analysis. At cooling to −20°C the pyrrolidine yield signifi cantly decreased and 3,4-dimethyl 2,2-diethyl 1-methyl-7-phenyl-1,5,8,9-tetrahydro-2H-azonine-2,2,3,4-tetratcarboxylate was obtained in 31% yield.
