The title Lasso has been suggested by Tibshirani (1996) as acolourful name for a technique of variable selection which requiresthe minimization of a sum of squares subject to an l1 bound on the solution. This forces zero components in the minimizingsolution for small values of . Thus this bound can functionas a selection parameter. This paper makes two contributionsto computational problems associated with implementing the Lasso:(1) a compact descent method for solving the constrained problemfor a particular value of is formulated, and (2) a homotopymethod, in which the constraint bound becomes the homotopyparameter, is developed to completely describe the possibleselection regimes. Both algorithms have a finite terminationproperty. It is suggested that modified Gram-Schmidt orthogonalizationapplied to an augmented design matrix provides an effectivebasis for implementing the algorithms. 相似文献

In the present study, siderophore produced by the marine yeast Aureobasidium pullulans was characterized as hydroxamate by chemical and bioassays. The hydroxamate assignment was supported by the appearance of peaks at 1,647.21?C1,625.99?cm?1 and at 1,435.04?cm?1 in the infrared spectrum. The purified siderophore exhibited specific growth-promoting activity under iron-limited conditions for siderophore auxotrophic probiotic bacteria. Cross-utilization of siderophore indicates a symbiotic relationship between the yeast A. pullulans and the selected probiotic bacterial strains. Statistical optimization of medium components for improved siderophore production in A. pullulans was depicted by response surface methodology. The shift in UV?CVis spectroscopy indicates the photoreactive property and subsequent oxidative cleavage of purified siderophore on exposure to sunlight. 相似文献

We compare the results of small angle neutron scattering on the flux line lattice (FLL) obtained in the borocarbide superconductor
LuNi2B2C with the applied field along the c- and a-axes. For H‖c the temperature dependence of the FLL structural phase transition from square to hexagonal symmetry was investigated. Above
10 K the transition onset field. H
2(T), rises sharply, bending away from H
c2(T) in contradiction to theoretical predictions of the two merging. For H‖a a first order FLL reorientation transition is observed at H
tr=3–3.5 kOe. Below H
tr the FLL nearest neighbor direction is parallel to the b-axis, and above H

Charoite is a hydrous alkali calcium silicate mineral [K4NaCa7Ba0.75Mn0.2Fe0.05(Si6O15)2(Si2O7)Si4O9(OH)·3(H2O)] exhibiting an intense lilac colour related to Mn2+ and Fe3+ colour centres. These ions also contribute to a strong luminescence at ∼585 and 705 nm. This work studies the thermal dependence of these luminescent centres by (i) thermoluminescence (TL) of pre-heated and pre-irradiated charoite aliquots, (ii) by time-resolved cathodoluminescence (TRS-CL) at room and cryogenic temperatures (RT and CT), (iii) by spatially resolved spectra CL under scanning electron microscopy (SRS-CL-SEM) and (iv) by ion beam spectra luminescence (IBL) with H+, H2+ and 4He+ ions at RT and LT. The main peak, ∼585 nm, is linked to a transition 4T1,2 (G)→6A7(S) in Mn2+ ions in distorted six-fold coordination and the emission at ∼705 nm with Fe2+→Fe3+ oxidation in Si4+ lattice sites. Less intense UV-blue emissions at 340 and 390 nm show multi-order kinetic TL glow curves involving continuous processes of electron trapping and de-trapping along with an irreversible phase transition of charoite by de-hydroxylation and lattice shortening of Δa=0.219 Å, Δb=0.182 Å; Δc=0.739 Å. The Si-O stressed lattice of charoite has non-bridging oxygen or silicon vacancy-hole centres, and Si-O bonding defects which seem to be responsible for the 340 nm emission. Extrinsic defects such as the alkali (or hydrogen)—compensated [AlO4/M+] centres could be linked with the 390 nm emission. Large variations in 585 and 705 nm intensities are strongly temperature dependent, modifying local Fe-O and Mn-O bond distances, short-range-order luminescence centres being very resistant under the action of the heavy ion beam of 4He+. The SRS-CL demonstrates strong spatial heterogeneity in the luminescence of the charoite. 相似文献

operators along with a harmonic oscillator wave function are used to describe translationally invariant hadronic states. The
present estimation does not make an explicit use of heavy quark symmetry and has a reasonable agreement with the experimentally
measured decay width, polarisation ratio and form factors with the harmonic oscillator radii and quark momentum distribution

Raman and resonance-Raman spectra of the I?3 ion isolated within CsI crystals have been studied using 647 nm and 488 nm exciting radiation. Sample temperatures between 300 and 20 K have been used. Eleven overtones of the symmetric stretching mode (nν1) have been observed in the resonance-Raman spectrum excited by the 488 nm Ar+ laser line. Bands centred at 153, 170, 264 and 304 cm?1 have been assigned as ν3, 2ν2, ν1+ν3 and 2ν3(Σ+) respectively. The remaining structure between the nν1 lines has been assigned as due to combinations of these lines with the lattice vibrations of the CsI crystal. 相似文献
