Soil salinity disrupts the physiological and biochemical processes of crop plants and ultimately leads to compromising future food security. Sodium nitroprusside (SNP), a contributor to nitric oxide (NO), holds the potential to alleviate abiotic stress effects and boost tolerance in plants, whereas less information is available on its role in salt-stressed lentils. We examined the effect of exogenously applied SNP on salt-stressed lentil plants by monitoring plant growth and yield-related attributes, biochemistry of enzymes (superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), and peroxidase (POD)) amassing of leaf malondialdehyde (MDA) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2). Salinity stress was induced by NaCl application at concentrations of 50 mM (moderate salinity) and 100 mM (severe salinity), while it was alleviated by SNP application at concentrations of 50 µM and 100 µM. Salinity stress severely inhibited the length of roots and shoots, the relative water content, and the chlorophyll content of the leaves, the number of branches, pods, seeds, seed yield, and biomass per plant. In addition, MDA, H2O2 as well as SOD, CAT, and POD activities were increased with increasing salinity levels. Plants supplemented with SNP (100 µM) showed a significant improvement in the growth- and yield-contributing parameters, especially in plants grown under moderate salinity (50 mM NaCl). Essentially, the application of 100 µM SNP remained effective to rescue lentil plants under moderate salinity by regulating plant growth and biochemical pathways. Thus, the exogenous application of SNP could be developed as a useful strategy for improving the performance of lentil plants in salinity-prone environments. 相似文献
This study evaluates the kinetic hydrate inhibition (KHI) performance of four quaternary ammonium hydroxides (QAH) on mixed CH4 + CO2 hydrate systems. The studied QAHs are; tetraethylammonium hydroxide (TEAOH), tetrabutylammonium hydroxide (TBAOH), tetramethylammonium hydroxide (TMAOH), and tetrapropylammonium hydroxide (TPrAOH). The test was performed in a high-pressure hydrate reactor at temperatures of 274.0 K and 277.0 K, and a concentration of 1 wt.% using the isochoric cooling method. The kinetics results suggest that all the QAHs potentially delayed mixed CH4 + CO2 hydrates formation due to their steric hindrance abilities. The presence of QAHs reduced hydrate formation risk than the conventional hydrate inhibitor, PVP, at higher subcooling conditions. The findings indicate that increasing QAHs alkyl chain lengths increase their kinetic hydrate inhibition efficacies due to better surface adsorption abilities. QAHs with longer chain lengths have lesser amounts of solute particles to prevent hydrate formation. The outcomes of this study contribute significantly to current efforts to control gas hydrate formation in offshore petroleum pipelines. 相似文献
A new vacancy ordered, anion deficient perovskite modification with composition of BaCoO2.67 (Ba3Co3O8□1) has been prepared via a two-step heating process. Combined Rietveld analysis of neutron and X-ray powder diffraction data shows a novel ordering of oxygen vacancies not known before for barium cobaltates. A combination of neutron powder diffraction, magnetic measurements, and density functional theory (DFT) studies confirms G-type antiferromagnetic ordering. From impedance measurements, the electronic conductivity of the order of 10−4 S cm−1 is determined. Remarkably, the bifunctional catalytic activity for oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) is found to be comparable to that of Ba0.5Sr0.5Co0.8Fe0.2O3–y, confirming that charge-ordered anion deficient non-cubic perovskites can be highly efficient catalysts. 相似文献
The goal of the present study is to elucidate the intragastrointestinal fate of micellar delivery systems by monitoring fluorescently labeled different micelles and the model drug paclitaxel (PTX). Both in vitro and ex vivo leakage studies showed fast PTX release in fluids while micelles remained intact, except in fed-state simulated intestinal fluid and fasted-state pig intestinal fluid, thus referring to the intact absorption of micelles and PTX leakage in the gastrointestinal tract with d-α-tocopherol polyethylene glycol 1000 succinate (TPGS) micelles showing higher stability than other micelles. All groups of micelles were absorbed intact in Caco-2 and Caco-2/HT29-MTX cell models and the absorption of TPGS micelles was found to be higher than other micelles. The transport of the micelles across Caco-2/Raji (1.6%–3.5%), Caco-2 (0.8%–1%), and Caco-2/HT29-MTX (0.58%–1%) cell monolayers further verified the absorption of micelles and their subsequent transport; however, more TPGS micelles transported across cell monolayers than other groups. Moreover, the histological examination also confirmed that micelles entered the enterocytes and were transported to basolateral tissues and TPGS showed the stronger ability of penetration than other groups. Thus, these results are succinctly presenting the absorption of intact micelles in GIT confirmed by imaging evidence with prior leakage of the drug, uptake by enterocytes and the transport of micelles that survive the digestion by enterocytes and mainly by microfold cells in material nature dependent way with TPGS showing better results than other groups. In conclusion, these results identify the mechanism by which the gastrointestinal tract processes micelles and point to the likely use of this approach in the design of micelles-based therapies. 相似文献
Thermal techniques, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and hot stage microscopy (HSM) have been used to study the interactions between furosemide and caffeine that are known to form a 1:1 cocrystal. This system has been used as an example to study the probable mechanism of cocrystal formation when the individual components, which are polymorphic, are heated. The study indicates that the phase transition of the low temperature stable polymorph of furosemide initiates cocrystal formation. This result suggests increased mass transfer rate can trigger cocrystal formation. The binary phase diagram (composition–temperature plots) of furosemide–cocrystal–caffeine system was determined from the DSC curves. The results imply that the cocrystal forms eutectic with caffeine but not with furosemide. This study has thus exemplified the use of DSC in understanding binary phase system where the two components form a cocrystal. 相似文献
In the present study, a novel enzyme-based grafting of poly(3-hydroxybutyrate) [P(3HB)] onto the ethyl cellulose (EC) as a backbone polymer was developed under a mild and ecofriendly environment and laccase was used as a grafting tool. The resulting composites were characterised using various instrumental and imaging techniques. The high intensity of the 3,358 cm?1 band in the FTIR spectra showed an increase of hydrogen–bonding interactions between P(3HB) and EC at that distinct wavelength region. The morphology was examined by scanning electron microscopy, which showed the well dispersed P(3HB) in the backbone polymer of EC. X-ray diffraction pattern for P(3HB) showed distinct peaks at 2-theta values of 28°, 32°, 34°, 39°, 46°, 57°, 64°, 78° and 84°. In comparison with those of neat P(3HB), the degree of crystallinity for P(3HB)-g-EC decreased. The tensile strength, elongations at break and Young’s modulus of P(3HB)-g-EC reached the highest levels in comparison to the film prepared with pure P(3HB) only, which was too brittle to measure any of the above said characteristics. Results obtained in the present study suggest P(3HB)-g-EC as a potential candidate for various biotechnological applications, such as tissue engineering and packaging. 相似文献
We have synthesized two mononuclear complexes, Mn-hq and Co-hq, to serve as sustainable catalysts (for degrading dyes from organic pollutant) and as biocatalysts (for promoting oxidation of catechol to quinone). The two complexes have been characterized by various spectroscopic tools, and with the assistance of single-crystal X-ray diffraction data, their molecular structures were established. The present complexes were exploited for the catalytic activity, i.e., enzymatic activity and photocatalytic property. In methanolic solution, Mn-hq and Co-hq were examined for catecholase-like activity and Mn-hq particularly catalyzes the oxidation of 3,5-di-tert-butyl catechol to analogous quinone with a Kcat value of 835.2 h?1. Additionally, Mn-hq and Co-hq demonstrated remarkable photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue (MB) in the aqueous medium beneath visible light. Co-hq shows excellent stability and recyclability toward MB. Further, trapping experiment along with degradation pathways is also explored. Thus, the present research throws light on the excellent catalytic properties of simply designed complexes and this activity can be tuned for desired efficiencies in future prospects.
