Eigenvalues of large even annulenes in terms ofK 3,S 4 andS 5

Squares of the adjacency matrices of bipartite cycles (C_v) can be block-factored into matrices which correspond to vertex-weighted complete graphs forv = 6, vertex-weighted strongly regular graphs forv = 8 and 10, and vertex-weighted metrically regular graphs forv > 10. Using this fact and some properties of strongly and metrically regular graphs, it is shown that eigenvalues of large bipartite C _v graphs (i.e. large even annulenes) can be expressed by the general formula ± (2 ± (2 ± (... ± (2 +r _p)) ...), wherev = 2 ⁿ ×p,n is the number of surd () signs required andp = 3, 4 and 5. Here,r ₃,r ₄, andr ₅, are the eigenvalues of the complete graphK ₃ and the strongly regular graphsS ₄ andS ₅ respectively. The procedure does not require construction of characteristic polynomials for the determination of eigenvalues, and brings out a common topological origin for the two-fold degeneracies observed in the eigenvalue spectra of all even cycles and many odd cycles.     

A simple and effective technique to locate quasi-degeneracy in a symmetric double well potential

Perturbation theory based model can be used to locate the quasi-degeneracy in an arbitrary double well potential. This method, extensively explain the effect of the coupling term on pair of states called quasi-degenerate. This model helps us to calculate the energy of the pair of quasi-degenerate states using appreciably small basis. Dispersion equation corresponding to the split energy levels are presented in a very explicit form. Numerical calculation shows that the proposed method can give extremely accurate results for symmetric double-well potentials.     

Observation of field induced anomalous quantum criticality in Ce0.6Y0.4NiGe2 compound

We report the results of our investigation of magnetization and heat capacity on a series of compounds Ce${}_{1?x}$Y_xNiGe₂ ($x=0.1,0.2\text{ and }0.4$) under the influence of external magnetic field. Our studies of the thermodynamic quantity $?\mathrm{d}M/\mathrm{d}T$ on these compounds indicate that magnetic frustration persists in Ce_0.9Y_0.1NiGe₂, as also reported for the parent compound CeNiGe₂. The weak signature of this frustration is also noted in Ce_0.8Y_0.2NiGe₂, whereas, it is suppressed in Ce_0.6Y_0.4NiGe₂. Heat capacity studies on Ce_0.9Y_0.1NiGe₂ and Ce_0.8Y_0.2NiGe₂ indicate the presence of a new magnetic anomaly at high field which indicates that quantum criticality is absent in these compounds. However, for Ce_0.6Y_0.4NiGe₂ such an anomaly is not noted. For this later compound, the magnetic field (H) and temperature (T) dependence of heat capacity and magnetization obey $H/T$ scaling above critical fields. However, the obtained scaling critical parameter (δ) is 1.6, which is away from mean field value of 3. This deviation suggests the presence of unusual fluctuations and anomalous quantum criticality in these compounds. This unusual fluctuation may arise from disorderness induced by Y-substitution.     

Novel nonlinear wave equation: Regulated rogue waves and accelerated soliton solutions

A new exactly solvable ($1+1$)-dimensional complex nonlinear wave equation exhibiting rich analytic properties has been introduced. A rogue wave (RW), localized in space–time like Peregrine RW solution, though richer due to the presence of free parameters is discovered. This freedom allows to regulate amplitude and width of the RW as needed. The proposed equation allows also an intriguing topology changing accelerated dark soliton solution in spite of constant coefficients in the equation.     

Odorless Preparation of Thioglycosides and Thio‐Michael Adducts of Carbohydrate Derivatives

A general, odorless, one‐pot methodology has been developed for the preparation of 1,2‐trans‐thioglycosides and thio‐Michael addition products of carbohydrate derivatives through triphenyl phosphine‐mediated cleavage of disulfides and reaction of the thiolate formed in situ with glycosyl bromides and glycosyl conjugated alkenes.     

Experimental Study on the Behaviour of Local Laminar Separation Bubble at a Rectangular Wing Section

This paper identifies laminar separation bubbles at the root or span-wise midsection of a rectangular wing using direct surface pressure measurements in the wind tunnel and analyses their behavior at different Reynolds numbers and angles of attack. The separation, transition, and reattachment locations are determined as functions of the angles of attack and the Reynolds number. The transition structure and turbulence characteristics in the separated shear layer are studied using laser Doppler velocimetry. Surface pressure data and simultaneously acquired velocity signals are correlated to show the pattern of growing disturbances in the shear layer. Surface oil flow visualizations clarified the wingtip and separation bubble’s interactions near the leading edge of the wing at the higher angles of attack. Turbulence statistics are also calculated from the streamwise velocity distributions, and an apparent deviation is observed for the skewness and flatness values from the normal distributions in the near-wall region. The separation bubble effect on aerodynamic coefficients of a 3D rectangular wing root section is studied and reported.

     

Preparation of 125I-Lanreotide and its biodistribution in murine model of melanoma

Lanreotide, a somatostatin analogue, was radioiodinated with ¹²⁵I to explore the possibility of using ¹²³I labeled lanreotide as a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical for tumors overexpressing somatostatin (SST) receptors. Radioiodination was carried out with ¹²⁵I using chloramine T as the oxidant. The labeling yield was >90%. Characterization of ¹²⁵I-Lanreotide was carried out by paper electrophoresis as well as HPLC. ¹²⁵I-Lanreotide was purified by chromatography using a C18 Sep-Pak column. Radiochemical purity of the purified ¹²⁵I-Lanreotide thus obtained was >99%. Significant tumor uptake of ¹²⁵I-Lanreotide was observed in C57BL/6 mice bearing melanoma.     

Quality Related Safety Evaluation of a South African Traditional Formulation (PHELA®) as Novel Anti-Biofilm Candidate

A South African traditional formulation, PHELA^®, is consumed by the traditional people for severe chest problems with coughing, diarrhea, oral ulcers etc. The present study focused on establishing the anti-infective properties of a safe and standardized poly-herbal formulation through a series of criteria and specifications.     

Fusion around the barrier for 7Li+12C

Fusion cross-sections for the ⁷Li + ¹²C reaction have been measured at energies above the Coulomb barrier by the direct detection of evaporation residues. The heavy evaporation residues with energies below 3 MeV could not be separated out from the α-particles in the spectrum and hence their contribution was estimated using statistical model calculations. The present work indicates that suppression of fusion cross-sections due to the breakup of ⁷Li may not be significant for ⁷Li + ¹²C reaction at energies around the barrier.
