The apparent circular dichroism (CD) and the linear dichroism (LD) spectra of the aggregates of achiral zinc(II)-5,10,15,20-tetra(4-pyridyl)-21H,23H-porphine (ZnTPyP), formed at the toluene/water interface in a centrifugal liquid membrane (CLM) cell, were investigated by comparison with the microscopic CD and LD spectra of a single interfacial aggregate of ZnTPyP about 100 mum in length, measured by a microscope-spectropolarimeter. The interfacial ZnTPyP aggregate showed two types of flat trapezoidal shapes, one had a seedlike core at an edge (type I) and another a needlelike core at an edge (type II). The microscopic CD and LD spectra were observed by varying the angle between the parallel axis of the trapezoidal aggregate and the perpendicular axis of a polarized light for LD. The plot of the CD intensity against the LD intensity for a single aggregate, observed at a given wavelength, showed a rotated elliptical shape with a long axis through the origin, when the orientation angle was changed. From these results, it was concluded that the apparent CD spectra observed by the CLM-CD method were mainly due to the large linear dichroism of the aggregate. Both type I and type II structures showed two transition dipole moments, parallel and perpendicular to the long axis of the structure, but suggesting a more developed J-aggregate in type II structure. AFM measurements showed that the interfacial ZnTPyP aggregate had a multilayer structure, in which the unit monolayer thickness was 1.58 +/- 0.23 nm. Finally, the orientation angle of the interfacial aggregate in the CLM cell was estimated as 41 degrees -44 degrees to the rotating axis of the cell.  相似文献

Ce(IV)-loaded Y-zeolites (CeY) were prepared for selective removal of the trace amount of organic sulfur compounds from hydrodesulfurization (HDS)-treated diesel oil. The CeY samples can be obtained from NH4-Y-zeolite (NH4Y) using liquid-phase ion-exchange and solid-state ion-exchange methods. The ion-exchange reactions, structures, and selective adsorptions of organic sulfur compounds of the CeY samples were investigated using XRD, IR, XPS, TEM, and GC sulfur analyzer. The organic sulfur compound uptakes strongly depend on the amount and the valency of Ce in the zeolite structure. Ce(IV) shows much higher adsorptive ability than Ce(III). A CeY-S sample prepared by solid-state ion-exchange reaction of NH4Y and Ce(NO3)3 with Ce/NH4 mole ratio of 0.63 at 250 degrees C showed a maximum sulfur uptake from a model solution of HDS-treated gasoline containing thiophene [S = 5 ppm (ppm = mg/L)]. A desulfurization from a HDS-treated diesel oil containing organic sulfur compounds (S = 1.87 ppm) and H2S (S = 0.73 ppm) was investigated with a combination of the CeY-S and a CuO adsorbent for removal of H2S by a batch method. The sulfur content was reduced to below 0.01 ppm for the first time. This method provides a promising desulfurization process to prepare a clean fuel for fuel cells.  相似文献

Chemical synthesis of homogeneous human glycoproteins exhibiting bioactivity in vivo has been a challenging task. In an effort to overcome this long-standing problem, we selected interferon-β and examined its synthesis. The 166 residue polypeptide chain of interferon-β was prepared by covalent condensation of two synthetic peptide segments and a glycosylated synthetic peptide bearing a complex-type glycan of biological origin. The peptides were covalently condensed by native chemical ligation. Selective desulfurization followed by deprotection of the two Cys(Acm) residues gave the target full-length polypeptide chain of interferon-β bearing either a complex-type sialyl biantennary oligosaccharide or its asialo form. Subsequent folding with concomitant formation of the native disulfide bond afforded correctly folded homogeneous glycosyl-interferon-β. The chemically synthesized sialyl interferon-β exhibited potent antitumor activity in vivo.  相似文献

In this article, we shall prove that every bipartite quadrangulation G on the torus admits a simple closed curve visiting each face and each vertex of G exactly once but crossing no edge. In surface-enhanced Raman spectra, vibrational peaks are superimposed on a background continuum, which is known as one major experimental anomaly. This is problematic in assessing vibrational information especially in the low Raman-shift region below 200 cm−1, where the background signals dominate. Herein, we present a rigorous comparison of normal Raman and surface-enhanced Raman spectra for atomically defined surfaces of Au(111) or Au(100) with and without molecular adsorbates. It is clearly shown that the origin of the background continuum is well explained by a local field enhancement of electronic Raman scattering in the conduction band of Au. In the low Raman-shift region, electronic Raman scattering gains additional intensity, probably due to a relaxation in the conservation of momentum rule through momentum transfer from surface roughness. Based on the mechanism for generation of the spectral background, we also present a practical method to extract electronic and vibrational information at the metal/dielectric interface from the measured raw spectra by reducing the thermal factor, the scattering efficiency factor and the Purcell factor over wide ranges in both the Stokes and the anti-Stokes branches. This method enables us not only to analyse concealed vibrational features in the low Raman-shift region but also to estimate more reliable local temperatures from surface-enhanced Raman spectra.

We have discovered a ring-opening fluorination of bicyclic azaarenes. Upon treatment of bicyclic azaarenes such as pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridines with electrophilic fluorinating agents, fluorination of the aromatic ring is followed by a ring-opening reaction. Although this overall transformation can be classified as an electrophilic fluorination of an aromatic ring, it is a novel type of fluorination that results in construction of tertiary carbon–fluorine bonds. The present protocol can be applied to a range of bicyclic azaarenes, tolerating azines and a variety of functional groups. Additionally, mechanistic studies and enantioselective fluorination have been examined.

A ring-opening fluorination of bicyclic azaarenes was developed. Although this overall transformation can be classified as an electrophilic fluorination of aromatics, it is a novel type of fluorination that results in construction of tert-C–F bonds.  相似文献
