A new type of coordination network polymer involving the redox-active polyanion, PV(2)Mo(10)O(40)(5)(-), and bridging -Cu(II)(OH(2))(4)- units, [[(Cu(II)(OH(2))(4))(3)(OH)]PV(2)Mo(10)O(40)](n)() (1), has been characterized by X-ray crystallography and several other methods. It is the first efficient heterogeneous (insoluble) catalyst for selective and rapid sulfoxidation using only the ambient environment (air at room temperature). Catalytic activity is enhanced by soluble nitrate in nontoxic perfluoropolyether (PFPE) media.  相似文献

Derivatization with 2,2′-dithiobis(5-nitropyridine) (DTNP) was used to stabilize thiols in field samples and to determine these compounds by liquid chromatography (LC) with ultraviolet detection. Alternatively, the thiols can be regenerated from DTNP derivatives using tributylphosphine (TBP) and derivatized with o-phthalaldehyde (OPA). The DTNP derivatives were stable at pH 5 and 6 for more than 2 weeks in the reaction mixture, but the stability was considerably lower at pH values > 8. Derivatization at pH 6 was routinely done and the reaction was complete within 5 min. The derivatives can be extracted quantitatively on commercial C18 cartridges, which allows several-fold sample enrichment. The cartridge-adsorbed derivatives are stable at 0–5 °C for long periods and, therefore, can be stored for LC separation at a later date. DTNP derivatives of ten low-molecular-weight thiols were separated on a C18 microbore column using gradient elution and a flow-rate of 200 μl min?1. The relative standard deviation based on repeated analyses of standards is about 5% in the range 0.5–2 nM. Without C18 cartridge enrichment, the detection limits of the studied thiols are in the range 50–100 nM. These limits are further reduced by about 100-fold by using the OPA method after regeneration of thiols from the DTNP derivatives using TBP. Applications of the method to coastal sediment pore water and anoxic Black Sea water are illustrated.  相似文献

Abstract— The blue light absorption band of roseoflavin is polarized along the axis roughly connecting N3-C8 positions. A weak, second π→π* transition with a polarization angle of ca. 25° is hidden under the short wavelength side of the blue absorption band. The excited state of roseoflavin is somewhat more basic than the ground state, by a 1.5 p K a unit. The fluorescence quantum yield and lifetime of roseoflavin are substantially lower than those of other flavins, thus making it kinetically less efficient as a blue light photoreceptor.  相似文献

We describe the use of hard etching methods to create nanodimensional channels and their use as templates for the formation of polymer filament arrays with precise dimensional and orientational control in a single integrated step. The procedure is general as illustrated by the radical, coordination, and photochemical polymerizations that were performed in these nanochannels. The nanochannel templates (20 nm high, 20-200 nm wide, and 100 mum long) were fabricated by the combined use of electron-beam lithography and a sacrificial metal line etching technique. Radical polymerization of acrylates, metal-catalyzed polymerization of norbornene, and photochemical polymerization of 1,4-diiodothiophene were carried out in these nanochannels. The polymers grown follow the dimensions and orientation of the channels, and the polymer filaments can be released without breaking. The approach opens up the possibility of just-in-place manufacturing and processing of patterns and devices from nanostructured polymers using well-established polymer chemistry.  相似文献

The annulenium ions of protonation, the two-electron oxidation dications, and the two-electron reduction dianions derived from dihydro- and dimethyldihydro derivatives (cis and trans) of dicyclopenta[ef,kl]heptalene (azupyrene) (1) and dicyclohepta[ed,gh]pentalene (2), which are the nonalternant isomers of pyrene, were studied by density functional theory (DFT) at the B3LYP/6-31G(d), 6-31+G(d,p), or 6-31++G(d,p) levels. Charge delocalization modes in the energetically most favored annulenium ions, as well as in the singlet and triplet dications and dianions, were assessed based on gauge-including atomic orbital (GIAO) Deltadelta](13)C values and via changes in natural population analysis (NPA) charges. Relative aromaticity/antiaromaticity in the annulenes were gauged via nucleus-independent chemical shift (NICS) and DeltaNICS. Annulenium ions of monoprotonation, the dications, and dianions derived from bismethano- and propanediylidene [14]annulenes were also studied by DFT for comparison with the cis-dihydro isomers derived from . Computed GIAO NMR data and the optimized geometries were compared with the experimental data when available, and the optimized geometries were compared with the X-ray data if known. A basis-set dependency study of the computed GIAO chemical shifts was also undertaken. In this article, a connection is made between the behavior of thin layers of Newtonian liquids under tensile loading conditions and the behavior of highly deformable elastic or viscoelastic solids, which are more commonly used as adhesives. The behavior of Newtonian liquids is understood in the most quantitative detail and serves as a starting point for understanding the origins of fingering and cavitation instabilities that appear when the tensile deformation rates applied to these layers are sufficiently large. Similar instabilities appear in solid systems and can be attributed to common features of the stress distribution for incompressible liquids and solids. A unifying treatment is presented that can be used to understand the overall deformation behavior and adhesive performance of a wide variety of solid and liquid systems that are typically applied as thin layers. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A microscopic polymer liquid-state theory has been developed for the structure, thermodynamics and mechanical properties of strained liquid crystalline elastomers. The theory captures the experimentally observed phenomenon of spontaneous distortion and establishes a direct correlation between it and the nematic order parameter. Strain induced softening of the elastic modulus is predicted to emerge due to coupling of the induced orientational order and anisotropic interchain excluded volume interactions. Comparison of our results with limited experiments shows good qualitative and sometimes quantitative agreement. The theory predicts that deformation in the liquid crystalline state results in an increase of the amplitude of density fluctuations (compressibility) which becomes more pronounced as chain degree of polymerization and/or segmental density are decreased.  相似文献

Ligand substitution reactions of the vitamin B12 analog cyanoimidazolylcobamide, CN(Im)Cbl, with cyanide were studied. Cyanide substitutes imidazole (Im) in the alpha-position more slowly than it substitutes dimethylbenzimidazole in cyanocobalamin (vitamin B12). The kinetics of the displacement of Im by CN- showed saturation behaviour at high cyanide concentration; the limiting rate constant was found to be 0.0264 s(-1) at 25 degrees C and is characterized by the activation parameters: DeltaH(not =) = 111 +/- 2 kJ mol(-1), DeltaS(not =) = +97 +/- 6 J K(-1) mol(-1), and DeltaV(not =) = +9.3 +/- 0.3 cm3 mol(-1). These parameters are interpreted in terms of an I(d) mechanism. The equilibrium constant for the reaction of CN(Im)Cbl with CN- was found to be 861 +/- 75 M(-1), which is significantly less than that obtained for the reaction of cyanocobalamin with CN- (viz. 10(4) M(-1)). pKbase-off for the base-on/base-off equilibrium was determined spectrophotometrically and found to be 0.99 +/- 0.05, which is about 0.9 pH units higher than that obtained previously in the case of cyanocobalamin. In addition, the kinetics of the base-on/base-off reaction was studied using a pH-jump technique and the data obtained revealed evidence for an acid catalyzed reaction path. The results obtained in this study are discussed in reference to those reported previously for cyanocobalamin.  相似文献

The most widely used technique for performing phase equilibria calculations is the K-value method (equality of chemical potentials). This paper proposes a more efficient algorithm to achieve the results that includes Gibbs minimization when we know the number of phases. Using the orthogonal derivatives, the tangent plane equation and mass balances, it is possible to reduce the Gibbs minimization procedure to the task of finding the solution of a system of non-linear equations. Such an operation is easier and faster than finding tangents or areas, and appears to converge as fast as the K-value method. Examples illustrate application of the new technique to two and three phases in equilibrium for binary and ternary mixtures.  相似文献

New expansions for global semigroup theory are developed. Many expansions have a left and a right version, each with specific (dual) properties; e.g., the Rhodes expansions ?L, resp. ?R, have unambiguous L-resp. R-order. In applications one sometimes needs expansions having both properties simultaneously; these can be constructed by alternately applying the left and the right expansion (possibly infinitely often) while keeping the same set of generators. Thus one obtains an expansion which is invariant under application of the old two expansions and thus has the properties of both (e.g., one obtains -+ with
, and so -+ has unambiguous L-and R-order). It is proved that, in the case of the Rhodes expansion, the new expansion is ‘close’ to the original semigroup; in particular (and this is the main result of the paper), ?+A is finite (resp. finite J-above) if S is finite (resp. finiteJ-above).  相似文献
