The structure of the defect pyrochlore NaW2O6+δ·nH2−zO after ion exchange with K, Rb, Sr or Cs for Na has been investigated using thermal analysis, solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance, laboratory X-ray and neutron diffraction methods. Neutron diffraction studies show that both the A-type cations (Na+, K+, Rb+, and/or Cs+) and the water molecules reside within the channels that form in the 111 direction of the W2O6 framework and that these strongly interact. The analytical results suggest that the water and A-type cations compete for space in the tunnels within the W2O6 pyrochlore framework, with the total number of water molecules and cations being approximately constant in the six samples investigated. The interplay between the cations and water explains the non-linear dependence of the a lattice parameter on the choice of cation. It appears that the ion-exchange capacity of the material will be controlled by the amount of water initially present in the sample. 相似文献

Using data obtained with the bubble chamber BEBC at CERN, the inclusivef 2 (1270) meson production invp and \(\bar vp\) charged current reactions is studied. It is found thatf 2 production occurs mainly in events with a hadronic invariant massW?7 GeV. In these events, the averagef 2 multiplicity is about half the average ρO multiplicity, and thex F andp T 2 distributions of thef 2 agree in shape with those of the ρO. The predictions of a semi-empirical model (Wells model) are in accord with the measured multiplicities atW>7 GeV, whereas at lowerW the model predicts too largef 2 multiplicities. 相似文献

Haldane predicted that the isotropic quantum Heisenberg spin chain is in a massive phase if the spin is integral. The first rigorous example of an isotropic model in such a phase is presented. The Hamiltonian has an exactSO(3) symmetry and is translationally invariant, but we prove the model has a unique ground state, a gap in the spectrum of the Hamiltonian immediately above the ground state and exponential decay of the correlation functions in the ground state. Models in two and higher dimension which are expected to have the same properties are also presented. For these models we construct an exact ground state, and for some of them we prove that the two-point function decays exponentially in this ground state. This paper introduces an efficient parameterization for the nearfield broadband beamforming problem with a single parameter to focus the beamformer to a desired operating radius and another set of parameters to control the actual broadband beampattern shape. The parameterization is based on an orthogonal basis set of elementary beampatterns by which an arbitrary beampattern can be constructed. A set of elementary beamformers are then designed for each elementary beampattern and the desired beamformer is constructed by summing the elementary beamformers with frequency and source-array distance dependent weights. An important consequence of our result is that the beamformer can be factored into three levels of filtering: (i) beampattern independent elementary beamformers; (ii) beampattern shape dependent filters; and (iii) radial focusing filters where a single parameter can be adjusted to focus the array to a desired radial distance from the array origin. As an illustration the method is applied to the problem of producing a practical array design that achieves a frequency invariant beampattern over the frequency range of 1:10 (which is suitable for speech acquisition using a microphone array), and with the array focused either to farfield or nearfield where at the lowest frequency the radial distance to the source is only three wavelengths. 相似文献

The wetting behavior of liquid metal was studied for the Al-Sn system with particular reference to low Sn concentrations. It was shown that for Sn concentrations below 5 wt-%, liquid grain boundary films break up into separate inclusions, the wetting angle of which increases with decreasing inclusion size. Possible explanations for this phenomenon are discussed, and it is concluded that the wetting angle is not a fixed constant according solely to Young's equation, but that a correction factor is required for small inclusions. 相似文献
