Monoterpenes are naturally occurring hydrocarbons composed of two units of isoprenes. They exhibit antioxidant activity to scavenge reactive oxygen species, such as hydroxyl radicals. We investigated the potential of monoterpenes such as thymol, linalool, and menthol to act as radioprotectants. The proliferation of EL4 cells, a mouse lymphoma cell line, treated with linalool at a concentration of 500 μM or more was not affected by X-ray irradiation. Plasmid-nicking assay performed using formamidopyrimidine-DNA glycosylase showed that linalool prevented single strand breaks and oxidized purines on pUC19 plasmid DNA. These findings indicate that linalool has the ability to scavenge reactive oxygen species and is a potential radioprotector. 相似文献

We study a Linear–Quadratic Regulation (LQR) problem with Lévy processes and establish the closeness property of the solution of the multi-dimensional Backward Stochastic Riccati Differential Equation (BSRDE) with Lévy processes. In particular, we consider multi-dimensional and one-dimensional BSRDEs with Teugel’s martingales which are more general processes driven by Lévy processes. We show the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the one-dimensional regular and singular BSRDEs with Lévy processes by means of the closeness property of the BSRDE and obtain the optimal control for the non-homogeneous case. The purpose of this study is to analyze the performance of a lugged wheel for a lunar micro rover on sloped terrain by a 2D discrete element method (DEM), which was initially developed for horizontal terrain. To confirm the applicability of DEM for sloped terrain locomotion, the relationships of slope angle with slip, wheel sinkage and wheel torque obtained by DEM, were compared with experimental results measured using a slope test bed consisting of a soil bin filled with lunar regolith simulant. Among the lug parameters investigated, a lugged wheel with rim diameter of 250 mm, width of 100 mm, lug height of 10 mm, lug thickness of 5 mm, and total lug number of 18 was found, on average, to perform excellently in terms of metrics, such as slope angle for 20% slip, power number for self-propelled point, power number for 15-degree slope and power number for 20% slip. The estimation of wheel performance over sloped lunar terrain showed an increase in wheel slip, and the possibility exists that the selected lugged wheel will not be able to move up a slope steeper than 20°. 相似文献

We have performed X-band ESR measurements on InP:Er epitaxial layers grown by organometallic vapor phase epitaxy, which were grown at the substrate temperatures of 530°C (sample A) and 580°C (sample B). Sample A shows a slightly anisotropic resonance aroundg = 6 with hyperfine structure due to the167Er (I = 7/2) isotope at 3 K. This result is similar to the result for Erdoped bulk InP and it indicates that Er3+ ions are located in In tetrahedral sites. On the other hand, we do not see such a resonance for sample B, suggesting that the local symmetry of Er in sample B is different from sample A. The difference between samples A and B is consistent with the fluorescence-detected extended X-ray absorption fine structure results that the coordination number of Er depends on the growth temperature. 相似文献

We investigated the effect of the presence of an additive anion while forming a self-assembled monolayer of a thiol-functionalized redox active species upon the behavior in aqueous solutions. A bromide salt was added in an acetonitrile solution of a thiol-functionalized viologen (viologen-thiol: N-pentyl-N′-(11-mercapto)undecyl-4,4′-bipyridinium bishexafluorophosphate) in which the self-assembled monolayer was formed on a polycrystalline Au electrode. We examined the structure and electrochemical behavior of the resulting monolayer-modified electrode in three different aqueous electrolyte solutions. The viologen-thiol monolayer prepared in the presence of Br− exhibited obviously different behavior in both KBr and KF electrolyte solutions from that prepared in the absence of Br−. On the other hand, the difference was minor in KPF6 solution. The difference of the electrochemical behavior was represented by the coverage of the viologen-thiol and the formal potential of viologen dication/radical cation redox couple. The memory that the viologen-thiol monolayer was formed in the presence of Br− was retained in KF and KBr solutions, though it was erased in the electrolyte solution containing PF6−, which is a softer anion than Br−. However, no definitive difference of the film structure was deduced from the electroreflectance study in regard to the monomer content and the average orientation of the viologen moiety. 相似文献

Based on the formation of a Keggin-type [PMo12O40]3- complex, a sensitive capillary electrophoresis (CE) method was developed for the determination of P(V) with direct UV detection at 220 nm. A mixture of alpha- and beta-Keggin-type [PMo12O40]3- complexes was readily formed in a sample solution consisting of a trace amount of P(V), 2.5 mM Mo(VI), 0.050 M p-C6H3(CH3)-2-SO3H (XSA), and 60% v/v CH3CN. When a 0.05 M HCl and 60% v/v CH3CN solution was used as a migration electrolyte, the Keggin complexes exhibited a sharp and well-defined peak in the electropherogram. The peak area was linearly dependent on the P(V) concentration in the range of 5 x 10(-7)-5 x 10(-5) M; a detection limit of 1 x 10(-7) M was achieved. In comparison with indirect UV detection, the direct UV detection is about ten times more sensitive, because the Keggin complexes possess high molar absorptivities. The developed CE method was applied to the determination of P(V) in river water, and the results were in good agreement with those obtained by ion chromatography (IC) and colorimetry (COL) based on the formation of mixed-valence heteropoly blue species. 相似文献
