Solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) probeheads using solenoid microcoils with an inner diameter of 300-400 microm are developed for the study of mass-limited solid samples. Some attention is paid to the mechanical ruggedness of the probes allowing sample changing. The performance, in terms of sensitivity and RF-characteristics, of these probeheads is studied for (1)H, (31)P, and (27)Al in different model compounds in view of the feasibility of specific applications. The results show that the sensitivity is high enough to detect approximately 10(14) spins/sqrt Hz with a signal-to-noise ratio of 1 in a single scan. A specific advantage of microcoils for solid-state NMR applications is that they can generate extremely high RF-fields if implemented in appropriate circuits. Using RF-powers in the hundreds of Watts range, RF-fields well in excess of 1MHz can be made. This allows the excitation of spectra of nuclei whose resonance lines are dispersed of several megahertz. This is particularly useful for quadrupolar nuclei experiencing large quadrupolar interactions as is demonstrated for (27)Al in single crystal and powdered minerals. 相似文献

The only available tabletop electron storage rings are the machines from the MIRRORCLE series. The electrons are accelerated in a microtron and injected into the storage ring. During its circulation, each electron passes through a tiny target many times, emitting a photon beam. Both the spectrum and the angular distribution of the radiation depend on the material, the thickness and the shape of the target. In this paper measured angular distributions of the radiation from several different targets in the magnetic field of the 20 MeV storage ring MIRRORCLE‐20SX are presented. The detector comprises a 3 mm × 3 mm × 8.5 µm plastic scintillator (PS) coupled to a photomultiplier by a bundle of optical fibers. The output of the photomultiplier is digitized by an IF converter. This detector is sensitive mostly to soft X‐ray radiation, and its PS is moved by a mechanical system in a plane perpendicular to the radiation axis. The measured angular distributions for Mo and Sn targets contain an annulus which is attributed to transition radiation. The angular distributions for Al, carbon nanotube and diamond‐like carbon (DLC) targets show some suppression of the radiation along the magnetic field. This is the first evidence of observation of the angular distribution of synchrotron Cherenkov radiation, which represents Cherenkov radiation in a magnetic field. Split RF coils offer improved patient access by eliminating the need for the coil to be slid over the region of interest. For unshielded birdcage coils, the presence of end ring currents necessitates a direct electrical connection between two halves of the coil. For high-field (>3T) shielded birdcage coils, both the shield and the coil must be split and reliably connected electrically. This problem can be circumvented by the use of split TEM volume coils. Since the elements of a TEM coil are coupled inductively, no direct electrical connection between the halves is necessary. In this work we demonstrate that the effects of splitting the shield for head and knee TEMs can be compensated for, and performance retained. For the knee, the improved access allowed the coil diameter to be reduced, enhancing the sensitivity by 15-20%. 相似文献

A high repetition rate picosecond laser system is combined with a spatial light modulator (SLM) for diffractive multiple beam processing. The effect of the zero order beam is eliminated by adding a Fresnel zone lens (FZL) to defocus the un-diffracted beam at the processing plane. Chromatic dispersion, which is evident with a large bandwidth femtosecond pulses leading to the problem of distorted hole shape is eliminated due to the much narrower spectral bandwidth, 0.1 nm at 10 ps pulselength, resulting in highly uniform intensity spots, independent of diffraction angle. In addition, high-throughput processing is demonstrated by combining the high power laser output, 2.5 W at λ ≈ 1064 nm and fast repetition rate, f ≈ 20 kHz with P > 1.2 W diffracted into 25 parallel beams. This has the effect of creating an “effective” repetition rate of 500 kHz without restrictive scan speeds. 相似文献

We numerically investigated the dependence of the decryption characteristics in a message modulation type chaos secure communication system using optical fiber ring resonators (OFRRs) on the coherence condition of carrier light. Since the output dynamics of OFRRs were formed on the basis of interference phenomenon among the circulated components in OFRRs, the coherence condition of input light affected inherently the OFRR output dynamics, resulting in the decryption characteristics. It was found that the decryption characteristics degraded as coherence length increased, i.e., as the spectral width of the input light decreased. The decryption characteristics also grew worse as the parameter differences between the transmitter and the receiver became larger. 相似文献

The build-up of intermediate species on the surface of TiO2 during gas-phase toluene (C7H8) photodegradation has been observed to deactivate the photocatalyst. Nanosized metallic deposits on the TiO2 surface may enhance the photocatalytic process and improve photocatalyst performance. In this study, noble (Ag, Au) and platinum
group (Pt, Pd, Rh) metals, at a nominal loading of 0.5 at.%, were deposited onto Degussa P25 TiO2 to enhance photocatalyst performance and inhibit deactivation. Pd, Rh and Au deposits delayed photocatalyst deactivation
by a factor of 2, while Pt deposits delayed photocatalyst deactivation by a factor of 20, when compared with neat TiO2. Ag deposits did not improve photocatalyst activity. Metal deposit performance was related to the work function of each metal,
however, the Pt finding suggested that these effects are not governed solely by this aspect, but factors such as deposit characteristics

This paper investigates the two species totally asymmetric simple exclusion process (TASEP) with constrained boundaries and site sharing in a one-lane system. The model is reminiscent of pedestrian traffic crossing a narrow pathway in both directions. In boundaries, particles can enter the system only if the corresponding sites are empty. The new aspect of this study compared to previous two species TASEP models is that the oppositely moving particles do not exchange their positions each other but by sharing the same site. Monte Carlo simulations have shown that the spontaneous symmetry breaking is observed in high-low-density phase and asymmetric low-low-density phase. The flipping processes are also observed in both phases. The maximal current phase appears for sufficiently large sharing probability. Histograms of two species of particles and average currents are computed. The results are also compared with the Bridge model [Evans et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 74 (1995) 208] which means that two species of particles can exchange their positions with a certain probability when they meet together. It is shown that our model exhibits higher current than that in the Bridge model. 相似文献

Electron delocalization between the reagent and reactant molecules is the principal driving force of chemical reactions. It brings about the formation of new bonds and the cleavage of old bonds. By taking the aromatic substitution reaction as an example, we have shown the orbitals participating in electron delocalization. The interacting orbitals obtained are localized around the reaction sites, showing the chemical bonds that should be generated and broken transiently along the reaction path. By projecting a reference orbital function that has been chosen to specify the bond being formed on to the MOs of the reactant molecules, the reactive orbitals that are very similar to the interacting orbital have been obtained. The local potential of the reaction site for electron donation estimated for substituted benzene molecules by using these projected orbitals shows a fair correlation with the experimental scale of the electron-donating and -withdrawing strength of substituent groups. The reactivity is shown to be governed by local electronegativity and local chemical hardness and also by the localizability of interaction on the reaction site. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 相似文献
