Iodine catalyzed reduction of arenesulfonic acid to the arenethiol with triphenylphosphine

Arenesulfonic acids, its sodium salts, and alkyl arenesulfonates were reduced readily to the corresponding arenethiols quantitatively with triphenylphosphine in the presence of iodine.     

A note on the formulation of simple equations of state for elastico-viscous liquids

Résumé On a consideré la formulation de simples équations d'état qui décrivent approximativement la conduite observée des liquides elastico-visqueux et qui sont suffisamment simples pour être utiles à résoudre des problèmes d'écoulement général.     

K‐linked graphs with girth condition

Recently, Mader [ 7 ] proved that every 2k‐connected graph with girth g(G) sufficiently large is k‐linked. We show here that g(G ≥ 11 will do unless k = 4,5. If k = 4,5, then g(G) ≥ 19 will do. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Graph Theory 45: 48–50, 2004     

Fatty acids. IV. Synthesis of all the dimethylene-interrupted methyl octadecadiynoates and a study of their gas-liquid chromatographic properties.

All the dimethylene-interrupted methyl octadecadiynoates have been synthesised and the gas-liquid chromatographic behaviour of these isomers was studied on polar [Carbowax 20M, FFAP, DEGA, DEGS and Silar 10C (recently renamed as Apolar 10C)], semi-polar (XE-60) and non-polar (SE-30, OV-101 and Apiezon L) stationary phases. The possibility of identification and separation of these isomers is discussed. The delta3a,7a isomer was found to decompose on most polar phases and the delta2a,6a isomer could not be eluted from the Carbowax 20M phase.     

Ribbon-form Sendust alloy made by rapid quenching methods

Ribbon-form Sendust was prepared by a roll quenching method. The size of the ribbon was 20∼110 μm thick, 2∼8 mm wide and 5∼10 m long. The normal direction of the ribbon plane was parallel to the [100] as well as the [110] axes, and no preferential directions exist within the ribbon plane. Vickers hardnessH _v of the as-prepared ribbon was 563±7, decreased with increasing the annealing time and became almost constant. The minimum bending diameter of the as-prepared ribbon was 8 mm and increased gradually with increase of the annealing time. Initial permeability of the 84.80 Fe·9.50 Si·5.70 Al ribbon was about 34,000 in the frequency range from 1 to 3kHz and decreased to be 10,000 at 85 kHz. The permeability of the molded core in a resin was about 21,000 in the frequency range from 1 to 3 kHz.
