Stable isotopes of water have been previously used in catchment studies to separate rain‐event water from pre‐event groundwater. However, there are a lack of studies at the smaller scale looking at the separation of event water from pre‐event water. This is particularly relevant for heavy clay soil systems through which the movement of water is uncertain but is thought to be rainwater‐dominated. The data presented here were collected at a rural site in the south‐west of England. The historic rainfall at the site was isotopically varied but similar to the global meteoric water line, with annual weighted means of ?37‰ for δ2H and ?5.7‰ for δ18O and with no seasonal variation. Drainage was sampled from the inter‐flow (surface runoff + lateral through‐flow) and drain‐flow (55 cm deep mole drains) pathways of two 1 ha lysimeters during two rainfall events, which had δ2H values of ?68‰ and ?92‰, respectively. The δ2H values of the lysimeter drainage water suggest that there was no contribution of event water during the first, small discharge (Q) event; however, the second larger event did show isotopic variation in δ2H values negatively related to Q indicating that rainwater was contributing to Q. A hydrograph separation indicated that only 49–58% of the inter‐flow and 18–25% of the drain‐flow consisted of event water. This was surprising given that these soil types are considered retentive of soil water. More work is needed on heavy clay soils to understand better the nature of water movement from these systems. This paper studies the empirical laws of eigenvalues and singular values for random matrices drawn from the heat kernel measures on the unitary groups \({\mathbb {U}}_N\) and the general linear groups \({\mathbb {GL}}_N\), for \(N\in {\mathbb {N}}\). It establishes the strongest known convergence results for the empirical eigenvalues in the \({\mathbb {U}}_N\) case, and the first known almost sure convergence results for the eigenvalues and singular values in the \({\mathbb {GL}}_N\) case. The limit noncommutative distribution associated with the heat kernel measure on \({\mathbb {GL}}_N\) is identified as the projection of a flow on an infinite-dimensional polynomial space. These results are then strengthened from variance estimates to \(L^p\) estimates for even integers p.  相似文献

In an attempt to perform a simple anion-exchange reaction on a pincer-carbene-ligated nickel complex using AgNO(3), we instead obtained an unexpected three-dimensional (3D) Ag(7) cluster containing a [Ag(6)] core in a twisted-bowtie geometry. The reverse-transmetalation reaction by which the carbene is transferred from nickel to silver is virtually unprecedented. The CNC pincer-carbene ligands exhibit unusual bridging modes of ligand bonding for all three donor atoms. Another unique feature is that the final structure exhibits a 3D structure brought about by the connection of two-dimensional layers of the [Ag(6)] core via a seventh Ag ion.  相似文献

The search for new zeolite structures and compositions remains important in synthetic materials science due to the high impact on developing new chemical technologies, as well as on improving existing ones. Herein we present the synthesis and structure of PST-35, a novel medium-pore germanosilicate (Si/Ge = 2.1–6.6) zeolite, achieved by combining the excess fluoride approach and the unique structure directing ability of Ge in the presence of 1,2,3-triethylimidazolium ions as an organic structure-directing agent. PST-35 contains a zig-zag 10-ring (4.6 × 6.7 Å) channel system constructed of strictly alternating large 28-hedral ([48·58·68·82·102]) and smaller 18-hedral ([46·54·64·82·102]) cages of anomalous orthorhombic shape. The PST-35 structure is built from the connection of pst-35 layers consisting of small 8-hedral ([43·54·6]) cages, previously unobserved zeolite building layers, through single 4-rings.

A medium-pore zeolite containing 2 novel orthorhombic-shaped cages was synthesized by combining the tendency of Ge to form double 4-ring units with the structure-directing ability of 1,2,3-triethylimidazolium ions under excess fluoride conditions.  相似文献

Time differential perturbed angular correlation spectroscopy was performed for n-type and p-type germanium samples that had been recoil-implanted with the probe 100Pd/100Rh. Two different measurements with the detectors aligned along <100> and <110> crystallographic directions of germanium confirm that the palladium probe pairs with the nearest neighbour vacancy and not a dopant. The pairs interact with a coupling constant of υ Q = 10.7(2) MHz and this agrees with what has been observed in undoped Ge. This further suggests that the palladium pairs with a vacancy in germanium, doped or un-doped. It was also observed that there are more Pd-V pairs in Ga-doped than there are in Sb-doped Ge. DFT calculations of the binding energies of the Pd-defect complexes support the experimental observations.  相似文献

The maximum angle of climb and the gear ratios needed for different angles of climb are calculated from vehicle specifications, terrain values and coefficients of rolling resistance. After a formal explanation of Mayer's enthalpy balance method as applied to biological reaction rates, the history of its application is traced from Rubner's dog to accounting for the energy of muscle contraction. The introduction of microcalorimetry allowed the method generally to be used for cells in vitro and now particular emphasis can be paid to the growth of cells for the production of therapeutically-important heterologous proteins.
