Energy levels, production and decay rates of toponiumP-states are calculated and their dependence on different assumptions on the short distance part of the potential is studied. The branching ratio for radiative decays to lower lyingS-states will be very large. Weak decays ofP-states will play an important role for quark masses above 25 GeV. Aliphatic nitro groups are replaced by hydrogen on treatment with tributyltin hydride which proceeds via free radical chain processes. As the nitro group is selectively denitrated and other reducible groups are not affected with tributyltin hydride, this reaction can be used as a method for removing the nitro group from polyfunctional compounds. The radical intermediates generated via denitration can be also used for the carbon-carbon bond forming reactions.  相似文献

Robert Alexander Rankin, an eminent Scottish number theorist and, for several decades, one of the world's foremost experts in modular forms, died on January 27, 2001 in Glasgow at the age of 85. He was one of the founding editors of The Ramanujan Journal. For this and the next two issues of the The Ramanujan Journal, many well-known mathematicians have prepared articles in Rankin's memory. In this opening paper, we provide a short biography of Rankin and discuss some of his major contributions to mathematics. At the conclusion of this article, we provide a complete list of Rankin's doctoral students and a complete bibliography of all of Rankin's writings divided into five categories: (1) Research and Expository Papers; (2) Books; (3) Books Edited; (4) Obituaries; (5) Other Writings.  相似文献

A frequency modulation (FM) method was developed to measure electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) absorption. The first-derivative spectrum of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) powder was measured with this FM method. Frequency modulation of up to 1.6 MHz (peak-to-peak) was achieved at a microwave carrier frequency of 1.1 GHz. This corresponds to a magnetic field modulation of 57microT (peak-to-peak) at 40.3 mT. By using a tunable microwave resonator and automatic control systems, we achieved a practical continuous-wave (CW) EPR spectrometer that incorporates the FM method. In the present experiments, the EPR signal intensity was proportional to the magnitude of frequency modulation. The background signal at the modulation frequency (1 kHz) for EPR detection was also proportional to the magnitude of frequency modulation. An automatic matching control (AMC) system reduced the amplitude of noise in microwave detection and improved the baseline stability. Distortion of the spectral lineshape was seen when the spectrometer settings were not appropriate, e.g., with a lack of the open-loop gain in automatic tuning control (ATC). FM is an alternative to field modulation when the side-effect of field modulation is detrimental for EPR detection. The present spectroscopic technique based on the FM scheme is useful for measuring the first derivative with respect to the microwave frequency in investigations of electron-spin-related phenomena.  相似文献

This paper describes a simple batch process for fabrication of microlens and microlens array at the end of an optical fiber or an optical fiber bundle using self-photolithography and etching techniques. A photoresist micro-cylinder was exactly formed at the core of the fiber end by exposing an UV light from the other end of the fiber and conventional development, rinse processes. A photoresist microlens was formed by thermal reflowing of the fiber at 170°C for 1 h. A measurement of transmissivity showed that the fabricated photoresist microlens is applicable for a wavelength that is longer than 450 nm. Alternatively, a glass microlens was fabricated at the core of the fiber by dry etching with an SF6 gas using the photoresist microlens as a mask. The focusing of the lensed fiber was confirmed and simulation work showed that the lensed fiber could focus the light with a beam spot of 2 μm, numerical aperture (NA) of 0.285 and a depth of focus of 16 μm.  相似文献

We have measured intrinsic-tunneling spectra of a single CuO-layer La-doped Bi2(Sr(2-x)Lax)CuO(6+delta) (Bi2201-Lax). Despite a difference of a factor of 3 in the optimal superconducting critical temperatures for Bi2201-La0.4 and Bi2212 (32 and 95 K, respectively) and different spectral energy scales, we find that the pseudogap vanishes at a similar characteristic temperature T* approximately 230-300 K for both compounds. We find also that, in Bi2201-Lax, pseudogap humps are seen as sharp peaks and, in fact, even dominate the intrinsic spectra.  相似文献
