Ring transformation of 6H-cyclopropa[e]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine. IV (1). Reduction and reaction of 5a-acetyl-6a-ethoxycarbonyl-5a,6a-dihydro-6H-cyclopropa[e]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-3-carbonitriles with primary amines

The reaction of 5a-acetyl-6-ethoxycarbonyl-5a,6a-dihydro-6H-cyclopropa[e]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-3-carbonitrile ( 1a ) with benzylamine gave ethyl l-benzyl-5-cyano-8a,9-dihydro-2-methyl-1H-pyrrolo[3,4-e]-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-8a-carboxylate ( 2a ), in addition to 5-acetyl-3-benzylamino-1-(4-cyanopyrazol-3-yl)- 2-pyridone ( 3 ). Reaction of 1a with aniline gave ethyl 6-acetyl-8-anilino-3-cyano-7,8-dihydro-4H-pyrazolo-[1,5-a][1,3]diazepine-8-carboxylate ( 4 ), in addition to ethyl 3-cyano-7-methyl-6-pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine-acrylate ( 5 ). On the other hand, the same reactions of 1b with benzylamine or aniline gave 2b or 8b , respectively. Though catalytic hydrogenation of 1a over 5% palladium-carbon proceeded by ring fission of cyclopropane ring to give 9 , 1a (or 1b ) afforded 4,5-dihydro derivatives ( 13 or 15 ) by catalytic hydrogenation over platinum oxide. The reactivity of 5-methoxy-4,5,5a,6a-tetrahydro-6H-cyclopropa[e]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine ( 16 ), which are related analogs of 1a,b , is also described.     

Synthesis of 1,4-dihydro-2-methyl-4-oxo-3-quinolineglyoxylic acid and related compounds

The synthesis of 1,4-dihydro-1-methoxy or ethyl -2-methyl-4-oxo-3-quinolineglyoxylic acid derivatives are described. α-Acetoxy-1,4-dihydro-1-hydroxy-2-methyl-4-oxo-3-quinolineacetic acid esters ( 7a, 7a ), which are key intermediates, were prepared by catalytic hydrogenation of 2-acetoxy-3-acetyl-4-hydroxy-4-(2-nitrophenyl) crotonic acid lactone ( 6 ) in methanol or ethanol.     

Comparison of PAMAM-Au and PPI-Au nanocomposites and their catalytic activity for reduction of 4-nitrophenol

Dendrimer-Au nanocomposites are prepared in aqueous solutions using poly(amidoammine)dendrimers (PAMAM) (generation 2, 3, and 5) and poly(propyleneimine)dendrimers (PPI)(generation 2, 3, and 4) by wet chemical NaBH(4) method. The Au nanoparticles thus obtained are 2-4 nm in diameter for both dendrimers and no generation dependence on the particle size is observed, whereas the generations of the dendrimers are increased as stabilization of Au-nanoparticles is achieved with lower dendrimer concentrations. Studies of the reduction reaction of 4-nitrophenol using these nanocomposites show that the rate constants for the PAMAM dendrimers (generations 2 and 3) are higher than those for the PPI dendrimers (generations 2 and 3), while a distinct difference in the rate constants is not seen for the PAMAM dendrimer (generation 5) or the PPI dendrimer (generation 4). In addition, the rate constants for the reduction of 4-nitrophenol involving all the dendrimers decrease with increases in dendrimer concentrations.     

Density-fluctuation-induced swelling of polymer thin films in carbon dioxide

We report an anomalous swelling of polymer thin films in carbon dioxide (CO(2)) which is associated (in both locus and form) with the density fluctuation ridge that forms along the extension of the coexistence curve of gas and liquid in the P-T phase diagram. Neutron reflectivity results showed that CO(2) could be sorbed to a large extent ( approximately 60%) in thin polymer films even when the bulk miscibility of the polymer with CO(2) is very poor. The anomalous swelling is found to scale with the polymer radius of gyration (R(g)) and extends to a distance approximately 10 R(g).     

New 2,5-dialkylthio-2-formyl-2,3-dihydro-γ-pyrans

Reaction of α-alkoxyacroleins with thiols

Conclusions The nucleophilic or radical addition of thiols to -alkoxyacroleins leads to 2-alkoxy-3-organylthiopropanals. Some chemical peoperties of 2-formyl-2,5-dialkoxy (alkylthio)-2, 3-dihydro-γ-pyrans

The conditions of heteropolar and radical thiylation of 2-formyl-2,5-diethoxy-2,3-dihydro--pyrans were studied. Oxidation of the carbonyl group occurs along with the Cannizzaro reaction in the reaction of 2-formyl-2,5-diethoxy-2,3-dihydro--pyran with silver oxide in alkaline media. Oxidation of 2-formyl-2,5-dibutylthio-2,3-dihydro--pyran with silver oxide leads to stable 2,5-dibutylthio-2,3-dihydro--pyran-2-carboxylic acid.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 10, pp. 1319–1322, October, 1976.     

Growth and properties of YAlO film synthesized by RF magnetron sputtering

YAlO films are synthesized on (1 0 0)-oriented Si substrates by RF magnetron sputtering method. Al₂O₃ wafer is used as a target material, and some small pieces of Y bulk material are put on the Al₂O₃ target to synthesize YAlO films. Y composition ratio is varied from 0 to 34%. Amorphous YAlO films are characterized. An electrical resistivity as high as 3.4 × 10¹⁴ Ω-cm is achieved for the YAlO film with Y composition ratio of 10%. The dielectric constant increases with increasing Y composition ratio, and the YAlO film with Y composition ratio of 34% has a dielectric constant of 10.2. The bandgap energy of the YAlO film is suggested to be wider than 6.5 eV. YAlO films with a surface roughness of 0.4-1.3 nm are obtained irrespective of the Y composition ratio.
