Polycyclic N-hetero compounds. XX. Synthesis of 11,13,15-triazasteroid with an alkyl group in the d-ring and an investigation of its antidepressive activity

11,13,15-Triazasteroidal skeleton with an alkyl group in the D-ring was synthesized and it was screened for antidepressive activity. Compounds VIIId and XIIa exhibited antireserpine action.

The SCF potential surface of the ground state for NO₂ was calculated by using program JAMOL 3. The McLean–Loew–Berkowitz CGTO 's were used as basis functions. One of the two N? O distance R is fixed to 2.25 a.u. and the other one r and the ONO angle θ are varied from 2.25 to 5.0 a.u. and from 0° to 180°, respectively. The potential surface has the minimum around r = 2.50 a.u. and θ = 120°, where the energy is found to be ?203.954 a.u.     

Some properties of 2-alkoxy-1-alken-3-ols

Conclusions The reaction of 2-alkoxyacroleins with Grignard reagent gave some new 2-alkoxy-1-alken-3-ols, which in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid are cyclodimerized to 2,3,5,6-tetraalkyl-2,5-dialkoxy-1,4-dioxanes, which tend to cleave ethanol to give 2,3,5,6-tetraalkyl-5-alkoxy-1,4-dioxenes.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 11, pp. 2534–2538, November, 1980.The authors express their gratitude to V. A kinetic method for the determination of zinc(II) in presence of a large excess of cadmium(II) by the different dissociation rate of their complexes with 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphine

Summary Acid-dissociation reaction of the cadmium(II) complex of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl)porphme (H₂tspp) proceeds about 10¹² times as fast as that of the zinc(II) complex. This provides the basis for a kinetic determination of zinc(II) in presence of a large excess of cadmium (II). The absorbance at soret-band (421 nm) of Zn(II)(tspp) was used to monitor the reaction. At 5.0×10^–2 M hydrogen ion concentration, Cd(II)(tspp) dissociates completely to Cd²⁺ in 1 s and only the reaction associated with Zn(II)(tspp) is observed during the reaction time from 30 s to 5 min. Zinc(II) concentration <10^–6 M is determined in the presence of 10^–2 M cadmium(II). The molar absorption coefficient is 2.7×10⁵ M ^–1 cm^–1. Iron(III), aluminum(III) and cobalt(II) being masked sodium tartrate, this method is highly selective and is free from interferences of most substances usually encountered. The method was applied to determine zinc(II) in tap water and in cadmium(II) sulfate.     

Preparation and O2 binding study of myoglobin having a cobalt porphycene

Sperm whale myoglobin, an oxygen-storage hemoprotein, was reconstituted with 2,7-diethyl-3,6,12,17-tetramethyl-13,16-bis(carboxyethyl)porphycenatocobalt(II) in order to investigate the reactivities of a cobalt porphycene in a protein matrix. Similar to the previously reported finding for the myoglobin with the iron porphycene, the reconstituted myoglobin with the cobalt porphycene was also found to have an O2 affinity 2 orders of magnitude greater than that of the myoglobin possessing cobalt protoporphyrin IX. The EPR spectra of the deoxy and oxy myoglobins having the cobalt porphycene at 77 K also have features similar to those of the myoglobin with cobalt protoporphyrin IX. These spectra suggest that the porphycene cobalt in the deoxy form is coordinated by one nitrogenous ligand postulated to be the imidazole ring of His93, and that the bond configuration of CoII-O2 is regarded as the CoIII-Omicron2*- species.     

Development of a new traceless aniline linker for combinatorial solid-phase parallel synthesis of rod-shaped liquid crystals with an azomethine linkage

A new traceless linker was developed to synthesize a library of 28 compounds possessing an azomethine linkage using combinatorial solid-phase parallel synthesis. The loading of the substrates on a solid support and cleavage from the solid support were performed by an imine synthesis and by imine-exchanged process in the mild conditions, respectively. Products with a thioester group exhibited liquid crystalline properties with the higher transition temperatures than the others.
