Aging is a continuous process over time that is mainly related to natural alterations in mechanical–biological processes. This phenomenon is due to several factors, including the time and energy of biological processes. Aging can be attributed to biological factors such as oxidative stress, cell longevity, and stem cell senescence. Currently, aging is associated with several diseases, such as neurodegenerative diseases, cancer, and other diseases related to oxidative stress. In addition, certain natural molecules, including those derived from vegetables, have shown the ability to delay the aging process. Their effects are linked to different mechanisms of action, such as tissue regeneration and the activation of longevity and anti-senescence genes. The present work discusses the impact of vegetables, and bioactive compounds isolated from vegetables, against the physiological and pathological aging process and accompanying human diseases. 相似文献

Alzheimer’s disease remains one of the most widespread neurodegenerative reasons for dementia worldwide and is associated with considerable mortality and morbidity. Therefore, it has been considered a priority for research. Indeed, several risk factors are involved in the complexity of the therapeutic ways of this pathology, including age, traumatic brain injury, genetics, exposure to aluminum, infections, diabetes, vascular diseases, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity. The pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease is mostly associated with hyperphosphorylated protein in the neuronal cytoplasm and extracellular plaques of the insoluble β-amyloid peptide. Therefore, the management of this pathology needs the screening of drugs targeting different pathological levels, such as acetylcholinesterase (AchE), amyloid β formation, and lipoxygenase inhibitors. Among the pharmacological strategies used for the management of Alzheimer’s disease, natural drugs are considered a promising therapeutic strategy. Indeed, bioactive compounds isolated from different natural sources exhibit important anti-Alzheimer effects by their effectiveness in promoting neuroplasticity and protecting against neurodegeneration as well as neuroinflammation and oxidative stress in the brain. These effects involve different sub-cellular, cellular, and/or molecular mechanisms, such as the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AchE), the modulation of signaling pathways, and the inhibition of oxidative stress. Moreover, some nanoparticles were recently used as phytochemical delivery systems to improve the effects of phytochemical compounds against Alzheimer’s disease. Therefore, the present work aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the key advances concerning nano-drug delivery applications of phytochemicals for Alzheimer’s disease management. 相似文献

Novel fully renewable AA‐BB type nonisocyanate polyurethanes (NIPUs) were synthesized using the transurethanization approach. Dicarbamate monomers were prepared by the reaction of a diamine with an excess of dimethylcarbonate (DMC), in presence of 1,5,7‐triazabicyclo[4.4.0]dec‐5‐ene (TBD) as catalyst. Then, the dicarbamate was reacted with a diol to afford the polymer, in presence of TBD or K2CO3 as catalyst. Several renewable diamines and diols were tested. The two steps were conducted under neat conditions. The obtained materials exhibited Tg values varying from ?38 to 42 ° C, Tm values varying from 42 to 204 °C , and thermal stabilities above 200 ° C. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. The aim of the present work was to study the effect of pomegranate seeds powder (PSP) supplementation to gluten-free (GF) sheeted pasta on cooking properties, sensory characteristics and antioxidants properties using TLC-DPPH test. Five levels of pomegranate seed powder were used (2.5, 5.0, 7.5, 10.0 and 12.5%) on formula replacement basis. Antioxidant potential of GF pasta increased with the addition of pomegranate seeds powder. The GF pasta without additives and with 2.5% concentration of PSP did not reveal ability to scavenge free radicals. The highest aforementioned activity was observed for crude pomegranate seed extract followed by GF pasta with 12.5, 10.0, 7.5 and 5.0% addition of PSP. The total dietary fibers content of pasta increased from 5.68 to 14.80?g/100?g with the increase in the incorporation of PSP from 0 to 12.5%. The results revealed that cooking loss of gluten-free pasta increased from 9.09 to 10.18%, whereas pasta firmness decreased from 381.43 to 366.30?N, upon incorporation of PSP. Pomegranate seeds powder decreased the lightness of the pasta from 82.26 to 57.27. Sensory analysis suggested that control pasta (without PSP) and pasta supplemented with low levels of PSP have the most acceptable quality. In conclusion, incorporating PSP at low levels enhanced the nutritional quality of pasta without a significant adverse effect on its cooking, textural and sensory properties. 相似文献

The respiratory chain (membranous, multienzymatic system) from Escherichia coli, was coimmobilized with gelatin and insolubilized in film form by tanning with glutaraldehyde. The film was fixed onto an oxygen sensor. The enzyme electrode can be used for measuring NAD(P)H, D- and L-lactate, succinate, L-malate, 3-glycerophosphate, or pyruvate. The range of metabolites concentrations was from 1 to 50 mM. It was possible to discriminate between the different metabolites (if mixed): By inducing during bacterial growth the specific flavoproteins necessary for L-lactate, succinate, L-malate, and 3-glycerophosphate respirations. The constitutive activities are unaltered on glucose or glycerol, namely D-lactate, NAD(P)H, and pyruvate respiration. When intact bacteria were immobilized (with or without induction), D- and L-lactate, succinate, 3-glycerophosphate, and L-malate respiration were measured, no activities of pyruvate and NAD(P)H respiration were obtained. For these last activities, French press breakage (see section on Membrane Preparations) of bacteria prior to immobilization was necessary. Products of reactions can be used as enzyme inhibitors: Pyruvate inhibits D- and L-lactate; fumarate inhibits succinate, and oxaloacetate inhibits L-malate respirations. Heat denaturation of the bacteria at 55 degrees C for 1 h maintains full activity of succinate and pyruvate respiration. On the other hand, no activity of D- and L-lactate, L-malate, or NAD(P)H respiration was measurable. These enzyme electrodes have many applications in basic and applied research. 相似文献

The structural characterization of polyamides (PA) was achieved by tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) with a laser induced dissociation (LID) strategy. Because of interferences for precursor ions selection, two chemical modifications of the polymer end groups were proposed as derivatization strategies. The first approach, based on the addition of a trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) molecule, yields principally to complementary bn and yn product ions. This fragmentation types, analogous to those obtained with peptides or other PA, give only poor characterization of polymer end-groups [1]. A second approach, based on the addition of a basic diethylamine (DEA), permits to fix the charge and favorably direct the fragmentation. In this case, bn ions were not observed. The full characterization of ω end group structure was obtained, in addition to the expected yn and consecutive fragment ions. 相似文献
