This study aimed to assess the effect of diffusion-weighted image (DWI) quality on abdominal apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) measurements and the usefulness of anisotropic images. Twenty-six patients (10 men and 16 women; mean, 58.1 years) who underwent DW imaging and were diagnosed not to have any abdominal diseases were analyzed. Single-shot spin-echo echo-planar DW imaging was performed, and one isotropic and three orthogonal anisotropic images were created. ADCs were calculated for liver (four segments), spleen, pancreas (head, body, tail) and renal parenchyma. Image quality for each organ part was scored visually. We estimated the correlation between ADC and image quality and evaluated the feasibility of using anisotropic images. ADCs and image quality were affected by motion probing gradient directions in the liver and pancreas. A significant inverse correlation was found between ADC and image quality. The r values for isotropic images were −.46, −.48, −.70 and −.28 for the liver, spleen, pancreas and renal parenchyma, respectively. Anisotropic images had the best quality and lowest ADC in at least one organ part in 17 patients. DWIs with the best quality among isotropic and anisotropic images should be used in the liver and pancreas. 相似文献

Under the harmonic approximation, the contributions from the indirect ionic interactions to the elastic constants are calculated for the alkali halide and silver halide crystals with the rock-salt structure. The coupling constants of the indirect ionic interactions are calculated by the self-consistent field treatment of the local density approximation and the spherical solid model. The calculated values of the coupling constants are large for the silver ion. The indirect ionic interaction significantly affects the elastic constants. It quantitatively explains the deviation from the Cauchy relation in alkali halide crystals. Moreover, it provides a clear account for the large values of the deviation from the Cauchy relation in AgCl and AgBr. 相似文献

We report an experimental demonstration of the induction synchrotron, the concept of which has been proposed as a future accelerator for the second generation of neutrino factory or hadron collider. The induction synchrotron supports a superbunch and a superbunch permits more charge to be accelerated while observing the constraints of the transverse space-charge limit. By using a newly developed induction acceleration system instead of radio-wave acceleration devices, a single proton bunch injected from the 500 MeV booster ring and captured by the barrier bucket created by the induction step voltages was accelerated to 6 GeV in the KEK proton synchrotron. 相似文献

The time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) of sintered ZnO ceramics was measured at low temperatures. A broad luminescence band was observed in the visible region. The TRPL experiment shows that photoluminescence decay behaviour can be depicted as t-n(r). The decay rate n(r) and lifetime are wavelength dependent, and the former varies exponentially with wavelength. The power-lowering behaviour of the luminescence intensity indicates that the luminescence band originates from the recombination of donor-acceptor pairs. 相似文献

We numerically investigate the propagation of light through the photonic crystal (PhC) waveguide on low refraction index material for near-field light focusing at the visible wavelength (635 nm) by incorporating a center air slot and Fabry-Perot resonator on the scanning tip. Perturbations by water and substrate refraction index changes of the PhC are analyzed by the finite-difference time-domain method to show minimal impact on light confinement and throughput. Such a total dielectric probe tip design has great potential to complement the current widely used metal-coated optical-fiber-based light confinement probe. 相似文献

Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) is a rare disorder caused by the obstruction of hepatic venous outflow, leading to sinusoidal congestion, ischemic injury to liver cells and portal hypertension. Long-term survival largely depends on whether hepatocellular carcinoma occurs. A recently available liver-specific contrast medium, gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriamine penta-acetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA), reportedly has high diagnostic capability for detection of malignant liver tumors. However, there has been no report of the sue of Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for BCS. We present a case of chronic BCS who underwent both gadopentetate dimeglumine (Gd-DTPA) and Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI. Hepatic congestion and edema were seen as slightly hypointense areas on Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced hepatobiliary-phase images, although these areas were observed as slightly hyperintense on previously obtained Gd-DTPA-enhanced delayed-phase image. Reduced uptake of Gd-EOB-DTPA by hepatocytes in the region of congestion or edema may account for this difference, which should be recognized in image interpretations. 相似文献

In our previous paper, structural changes of selenium powders ground by a planetary ball mill at various rotational speeds
were investigated for the nanostructural modification of particles using mechanical grinding process. The experimental results
indicated that the amorphisation of Se by grinding accompanies lattice strain, and the lattice strain arises from impact energy
which is more than an energy related to intermolecular interaction. In this paper, molecular dynamics simulations of selenium
have been carried out under compressing conditions of various pressure strengths for obtaining information of the lattice
strain at atomic level. Then, dynamical behaviour of atomic configuration has been discussed in this process. The structural
disordering and formation of the structural defects were estimated by deviations of bond length and angle and the number of
created defects before and after compressing from simulated results. The disordering took place during compressing at various
pressure strengths, and the disordered atoms return to their initial positions at lower pressure. Stable disordered state
and defects after the compression can however remain by compression at more than a certain pressure strength mainly associated

Recent cosmological observations, such as the measurement of the primordial 4He abundance, CMB, and large scale structure, give preference to the existence of extra radiation component, ΔNν>0. The extra radiation may be accounted for by particles which were in thermal equilibrium and decoupled before the big bang nucleosynthesis. Broadly speaking, there are two possibilities: (1) there are about 10 particles which have very weak couplings to the standard model particles and decoupled much before the QCD phase transition; (2) there is one or a few light particles with a reasonably strong coupling to the plasma and it decouples after the QCD phase transition. Focusing on the latter case, we find that a light chiral fermion is a suitable candidate, which evades astrophysical constraints. Interestingly, our scenario predicts a new gauge symmetry at TeV scale, and therefore may be confirmed at the LHC. As a concrete example, we show that such a light fermion naturally appears in the E6-inspired GUT. 相似文献

Numerical analysis and scale analysis are combined in a novel manner in this work to develop closed-form expressions for flame geometry in opposed-flow flame spread over condensed fuels. A scale analysis is used to relate different geometric attributes to appropriate non-dimensional parameters. A comprehensive numerical model is then used to generate a large set of numerical data for flame height, flame length, and pyrolysis length as functions of different fuel and oxidizer parameters for flame spread in the thermal, kinetic, and radiative regimes. The numerical data is then correlated to scaled expressions and the unknown coefficients are numerically determined. It is shown that flame length, flame height, and pyrolysis length can be expressed in terms of the preheat length in different regimes of flame spread. An experimental approach is outlined to measure the preheat length necessary for accurately predicting the flame structure. Experimental images obtained from interferometry in two different regimes – downward spreading configuration and quiescent microgravity environment – are consistent with the proposed flame height correlation. 相似文献
