Cu nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of impurities (Zn, Ni, and La)-doped spin-1/2 Heisenberg ladder compounds SrCu2O3 (Sr123) are broadened with Curie-like temperature (T) dependence. The spectra have been successfully fit by using a quasi-one-dimensional (Q1D) staggered polarization (SP) model. Such a SP has also revealed in Cu NMR measurements of Sr14–x

The mechanism for negative photochromism of spiropyran in silica was investigated. Prior to our study, the chemical origin of the high thermal stability of the photomerocyanine form (PMC‐form) dispersed in perhydropolysilazane (PHPS), which is converted to silica at ambient temperature, had been investigated. The high thermal stability of the PMC‐form is attributed to the protonated PMC‐form (H???PMC‐form), which is produced by intermolecular hydrogen bonding between oxide anions generated by the cleavage of the C ? O bonds and the partially uncondensed Si ? OH and O ? H bonds of silica. Furthermore, the H???PMC‐form could be thermally isomerized from the SP‐form without UV light irradiation. This specific phenomenon is caused by the so‐called negative photochromism. In this study, we proposed a mechanism for negative photochromism according to the relationship of the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO). The relationship between the HOMOs was determined using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). On the other hand, the relationship between the LUMOs was determined from the respective optical bandgap. As a result, the HOMO level of H???PMC‐form was ?6.1 eV and that of SP‐form was ?5.3 eV. In situ monitoring of nucleation and evolution of Ge nanodots on faintly oxidized Si(1 1 1) surfaces
We have investigated the nucleation and evolution of germanium (Ge) nanodot (ND)s taking place while depositing Ge onto the silicon (Si) (1 1 1) surfaces with ultra-thin Si oxide films by using ultra-high vacuum in situ high-resolution transmission electron microscopy in the profile-imaging geometry. Various types of growth phenomena such as nucleation, growth and coalescence of Ge NDs have successfully been observed. The results show that the growth phenomena of the Ge NDs are dramatically rapid after their size reaches the size of the critical nucleus. The critical nucleus size estimated from a model using the cohesive energy of the Ge NDs has been consistent with observed one. 相似文献

Photocathode devices operating in reflection-mode, where the photoemission is detected on the same side as the light irradiation, were developed for the detection of deep ultraviolet light by using p-AlxGa1−xN films grown on Si(1 1 1) substrates. The external quantum efficiencies were as high as 20-15% at 200 nm and 280 nm, while the value was as low as 10−2% at 310 nm. The on-off ratio was more than four orders of magnitude, which represents high solar-blind sensitivity. The escape probability of AlxGa1−xN photocathode was decreased with increase of AlN mole fraction. The effective barrier potential against the photoelectron emission near the surface was reduced due to the upward shift of conduction band of AlxGa1−xN. The photoemission from the AlxGa1−xN films terminated with Cs-O adatoms will be discussed in terms of band diagrams that were evaluated by hard X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. 相似文献

Sign-language comprehension activates the auditory cortex in deaf subjects. It is not known whether this functional plasticity in the temporal cortex is age dependent. We conducted functional magnetic-resonance imaging in six deaf signers who lost their hearing before the age of 2 years, five deaf signers who were >5 years of age at the time of hearing loss and six signers with normal hearing. Transitions related to the spin-glass phase in Mn1−xTixSb

In this work, the application of an undecimated wavelet transformation together with digital interferometric contrast to improve the resulting reconstructions in a digital hard X‐ray Gabor holographic microscope is shown. Specifically, the starlet transform is used together with digital Zernike contrast. With this contrast, the results show that only a small set of scales from the hologram are, in effect, useful, and it is possible to enhance the details of the reconstruction. 相似文献

We experimentally demonstrated two-photon pumping of random lasers using picosecond and nanosecond pump lasers. The picosecond laser pumping experiment was performed with 400 ps laser pulses at 770 nm, and the gain media was a Coumarin 480D dye solution doped with TiO2 nanoparticles. Onset of laser action was observed at a pump laser pulse energy below 500 μJ. The nanosecond laser pumping experiment was performed with 7 ns laser pulses at 1064 nm, and the gain media was a Rhodamine 640 dye solution doped with TiO2 nanoparticles. Onset of laser action was observed at a pump laser energy ∼18 mJ. Our results suggest that there exists an optimal pulse duration of the pumping laser in two-photon pumped random lasing that leads to minimum photodamage of the gain media and still keeps a high pumping efficiency. This paper presents a new method of multispectral hyperbolic incoherent holography in which a hyperbolic volume interferogram was directly measured by an appropriate designed interferometer. This method enables to obtain a set of spectral components of three-dimensional images and continuous spectra for spatially incoherent, polychromatic objects. We introduced a calibration method of a phase aberration of the interferometer. The spectral resolution and spatial resolutions are investigated based on analytical solution of impulse response function of hyperbolic holography. From experimental results and theoretical predictions, the validity of the calibration method was confirmed. Experimental results agree with the theoretical ones. Consequently, the retrieved images obtained by the method are shown to demonstrate the performance of the method. 相似文献
