Ageratum conyzoides L. (Family—Asteraceae) is an annual aromatic invasive herb, mainly distributed over the tropical and subtropical regions of the world. It owns a reputed history of indigenous remedial uses, including as a wound dressing, an antimicrobial, and mouthwash as well as in treatment of dysentery, diarrhea, skin diseases, etc. In this review, the core idea is to present the antifungal potential of the selected medicinal plant and its secondary metabolites against different fungal pathogens. Additionally, toxicological studies (safety profile) conducted on the amazing plant A. conyzoides L. are discussed for the possible clinical development of this medicinal herb. Articles available from 2000 to 2020 were reviewed in detail to exhibit recent appraisals of the antifungal properties of A. conyzoides. Efforts were aimed at delivering evidences for the medicinal application of A. conyzoides by using globally recognized scientific search engines and databases so that an efficient approach for filling the lacunae in the research and development of antifungal drugs can be adopted. After analyzing the literature, it can be reported that the selected medicinal plant effectively suppressed the growth of numerous fungal species, such as Aspergillus, Alternaria, Candida, Fusarium, Phytophthora, and Pythium, owing to the presence of various secondary metabolites, particularly chromenes, terpenoids, flavonoids and coumarins. The possible mechanism of action of different secondary metabolites of the plant against fungal pathogens is also discussed briefly. However, it was found that only a few studies have been performed to demonstrate the plant’s dosage and safety profile in humans. Considered all together, A. conyzoides extract and its constituents may act as a promising biosource for the development of effective antifungal formulations for clinical use. However, in order to establish safety and efficacy, additional scientific research is required to explore chronic toxicological effects of ageratum, to determine the probability of interactions when used with different herbs, and to identify safe dosage. The particulars presented here not only bridge this gap but also furnish future research strategies for the investigators in microbiology, ethno-pharmacology, and drug discovery.  相似文献

The various thermodynamic parameters for the periodate oxidation of six anilines, viz. aniline, p-chloroaniline, p-ethoxyaniline, o- and p-methoxyanilines and p-methylaniline have been reported and discussed. The validity of the isokinetic relationship and various linear free energy relationships (LFERs) have been tested and discussed. The gross structures of the cyclised products from the acid-catalysed cyclisations of 2-benzyl-1, 3-dimethylcyclohexanol (6) and 1-benzyl-3, 5-dimethylcyclohexanol (11) revealing the influence of the structure of the benzylcyclohexanol derivative, and of the cyclisation reagent, have been evaluated. Polyphosphoric acid and aluminium chloride catalysed cyclisations of (6) result in the formation of predominantly 1, 4a-dimethyl-1, 2, 3, 4, 4a, 9a-hexahydrofluorene (7) and 4, 9-dimethyl-7, 8-benzobicyclo [3.3.1] non-7-ene (9) respectively. Under the same conditions, (11) produced cyclised products consisting mostly the benzobicyclo [3.3.1] non-7-ene derivative (12), characterised through 1,3-dimethyl-7,8-benzobicyclo [3.3.1] non-6-oxo-7-ene (14) by oxidation with chromium trioxide. Phosphorus pentoxide induced cyclisation of (6), followed by oxidation gave a mixture of the bridged-ring ketone (10) and the 9-oxohydrofluorene (8) in a ratio ofca. 3 : 2, whereas 2-benzyl-5-methylcyclohexanol (19) resulted in mostly 2-methyl-7,8-benzobicyclo [3.3.1] non-6-oxo-7-ene (19).  相似文献

This paper presents an investigation of the enhancement of self focusing of high frequency EM waves in a compensated degenerate magnetoactive solid state plasma. The nonlinearity in the dielectric constant responsible for self focusing arises due to nonuniform heating and consequent redistribution Of carriers. A rigorous kinetic treatment valid beyond the perturbation limit has been presented assuming the carrier relaxation time to be energy dependent. The results show that the self-focusing of extraordinary waves is enhanced while that of ordinary waves is reduced with ωcω increasing. However the focusing of extraordinary waves is not possible when ωc > ω. The effect of degeneracy is also found to enhance the self-focusing of the waves while that of the enhanced absorption is to suppress the self-focusing process.  相似文献

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) is a highly surface sensitive technique and is used in identification of oxidation states in catalysts at various stages. Copper, silver and platinum based catalysts are widely used in petrochemical industries. Our attempts at characterization have revealed that elements in these catalysts are normally present then one stae. It is terefore essential to identify their in more chemical as well as oxidation states. Such identification combined with quantitative analysis of data is helpful in correlating catalyst performance. Technique and instrumentation to detect reliably, multiplicity of neutrons emitted in sharp bursts (≤100 μs) has been developed where a burst of as low as 15 neutrons and continuous emission of ⋍10−1 neutron/s may be detected. Using this technique, attempts were made to detect neutron emission from various experiments in which anomalous nuclear effects (or what is commonly referred to as cold fusion) may be expected to occur. No neutrons, above our detection threshold, were detected in the recent series of experiments.  相似文献

Summary Investigations on the aquation of tris-(substituted)malonatochromate(III)ion, between 25°–40° in the presence of acid (I=1.0M) show that the mono- and dimethyl substituted complexes aquate by a two term rate law, only one of which is acid dependent. All other complexes aquate by a one term rate law which is first-order with respect to acid concentration; the unsubstituted malonato complex behaves in this way. Aquation of the first two complexes is dissociative, while for others appreciable associative character has been observed.  相似文献
