In plants, excess light has the potential to damage the photosynthetic apparatus. The damage is caused in part by reactive oxygen species (ROS) generated by electrons leaking from the photosynthetic electron transport system. To investigate the mechanisms equipped in higher plants to reduce high light (HL) stress, we surveyed the response of 7000 Arabidopsis genes to HL, taking advantage of the recently developed microarray technology. Our analysis revealed that 110 genes had a positive response to a 3 h treatment at a light intensity of 150 W m(-2). In addition to the scavenging enzymes of ROS, the genes involved in biosynthesis of lignins and flavonoids are activated by HL and actually resulted in increased accumulation of lignins and anthocyanins. Comparing the HL-responsive genes with drought-inducible genes identified with the same microarray system revealed a dense overlap between HL- and drought-inducible genes. In addition, we have identified 10 genes that showed upregulation by HL, drought, cold and also salt stress. These genes include RD29A, ERD7, ERD10, KIN1, LEA14 and COR15a, most of which are thought to be involved in the protection of cellular components.  相似文献

The present study focused on the effect of an intermediate-temperature (IT; ∼900 °C) buffer layer on GaN films, grown on an AlN/sapphire template by hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE). In this paper, the surface morphology, structural quality, residual strain, and luminescence properties are discussed in terms of the effect of the buffer layer. The GaN film with an IT-buffer revealed a relatively lower screw-dislocation density (3.29×107 cm−2) and a higher edge-dislocation density (8.157×109 cm−2) than the GaN film without an IT-buffer. Moreover, the IT-buffer reduced the residual strain and improved the luminescence. We found that the IT-buffer played an important role in the reduction of residual strain and screw-dislocation density in the overgrown layer through the generation of edge-type dislocations and the spontaneous treatment of the threading dislocation by interrupting the growth and increasing the temperature.  相似文献

In this short paper, we give an upper bound for the number of different basic feasible solutions generated by the simplex method for linear programming problems (LP) having optimal solutions. The bound is polynomial of the number of constraints, the number of variables, and the ratio between the minimum and the maximum values of all the positive elements of primal basic feasible solutions. When the problem is primal nondegenerate, it becomes a bound for the number of iterations. The result includes strong polynomiality for Markov Decision Problem by Ye (http://www.stanford.edu/~yyye/simplexmdp1.pdf, 2010) and utilize its analysis. We also apply our result to an LP whose constraint matrix is totally unimodular and a constant vector b of constraints is integral.  相似文献

We propose a strategy for a micromanipulation method using SSFLC (surface stabilized ferroelectric liquid crystals). By adjusting the frequency of the applied ac electric field, the surface layers that cannot follow an applied ac electric field are constructed in SSFLC. In addition, by applying a sawtooth wave voltage, net flow along the smectic layer is generated. The flow direction is reversed by changing the polarity of the sawtooth wave. Consequently, the particles dispersed in SSFLC can be driven bidirectionally along the smectic layer. The particle velocity depends on the temperature, amplitude, and frequency of the applied voltage.  相似文献

We derive the path integral representation of the conditional probability for a Markovian process starting from the master equation. Existing derivations require both the variable and the transition probability to be extensive. We show that this requirement may be relaxed if Langer's formula for the transition probability is used. Poly(amide amine) dendrimer with naphthyl units (N8) as a fluorescent chemosensor for metal ions was synthesized. We investigated the metal ion recognition of N8. Large changes in the fluorescence spectra of N8 were observed upon the addition of cadmium and zinc ions.  相似文献
