An approach to deduce the mechanism of stabilization of the hybrid-derived populations in the Ohomopterus ground beetles has been made by comparative studies on the phylogenetic trees of the mitochondrial and nuclear DNA. A phylogenetic tree based on the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) of nuclear ribosomal gene roughly reflects the relations of morphological species group, while mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 5 (ND5) gene shows a considerable different topology on the tree; there exist several geographically-linked lineages, most of which consist of more than one species. These results suggest that the replacement of mitochondria has occurred widely in the Ohomopterus species. In most cases, hybridization is unidirectional, i.e., the species A (♂) hybridized with another species B (♀) and not vice versa, with accompanied replacement of mitochondria of A by those of B. The results also suggest that partial or complete occupation of the distribution territory by a hybrid-derived morphological species. The morphological appearance of the resultant hybrid-derivatives are recognized as that of the original species A. Emergence of a morphological new species from a hybrid-derived population has been exemplified. 相似文献

We report on the observation of doubly charged helium ions produced by a nonlinear interaction between a helium atom and photons with a photon energy of 42 eV which are generated with the 27th harmonic of a femtosecond pulse from a Ti:sapphire laser. The number of ions is proportional to the square of the intensity of the 27th harmonic pulse, and thus two-photon double ionization should be dominantly induced as compared with other nonlinear processes accompanying sequential ionization via a singly charged ion. This phenomenon is utilized to measure the pulse duration of the 27th harmonic pulse by using an autocorrelation technique, for the first time to our knowledge, and as a result a duration of 8 fs is found. 相似文献

We investigated the photoluminescence (PL) properties of regularly arranged N‐polar InN microcrystals with m ‐plane sidewall facets. We observed narrow PL emission at 0.678 eV with a linewidth of ~14 meV at 4 K and a clear band‐filling effect with increasing excitation power. We also observed a normal red shift of the PL peak energy as large as 51 meV (~150 nm) with increasing temperature from 4 to 300 K, similar to that observed for non‐degenerated semiconductors. The integrated PL intensity ratio I300K/I4K was measured to be 6.1%. These results indicate that InN microcrystals have a low residual carrier density and excellent optical properties without being adversely affected by surface electron accumulation, despite their relatively high surface area. Resonance magnetoabsorption spectra of CuGeO3 single crystals containing 2% Co impurity have been studied in the frequency range 60–360 GHz in magnetic fields of up to 16 T and in the temperature interval 2–60 K with the magnetic field B aligned parallel to the a crystallographic axis. In addition to the Cu2+ chain resonance, a new absorption line (unobserved previously in doped CuGeO3 and deriving apparently from the Co2+ ions) was detected in EPR spectra. Quantitative analysis of the spectra suggests that the spin-Peierls transition occurs in about 10% Cu2+ chains, while the spin-Peierls state in the remaining 90% chains is completely destroyed by cobalt doping. The results obtained reveal considerable deviations from the universally accepted scenario of CuGeO3 doping and are discussed within alternative theoretical models, namely, the quantum critical behavior (based on the EPR theory for quasi-one-dimensional systems) and a three-dimensional antiferromagnet with the Néel temperature lowered by disorder. 相似文献

We report on the integration of microlens and microfluidic channels in fused silica glass chip using femtosecond laser micromachining.
The main process includes three procedures: (1) femtosecond laser scanning for forming a hemispherical surface and a Y-shaped
channel in the fused silica glass; (2) chemical etching of the sample for removal of the modified areas; and (3) oxyhydrogen
(OH) flame polish for smoothening the surface of the microlens. In addition, we demonstrate that the fabricated microlens

We succeed in synthesizing NbSe2 nanotubes along with nanofibers by chemical vapor transportation. They are stable crystalline systems and can be synthesized reproducibly in a nearly equilibrium reacting process. We have investigated these nanosize structures of NbSe2 by transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction. Both of the structures have a similar size of 100–200 nm in diameter. While nanotubes consist of rolled-up NbSe2 layers, nanofibers are a pile of thin flat layers. We propose a mechanism of the formation of NbSe2 nanotubes and nanofibers on the basis of deseleniditive transition from a NbSe3 fiber-shaped crystal. We also measured electrical resistance of the nanofibers with conductive atomic force microscopy and demonstrated that the material show metallic behavior at room temperature. 相似文献

Evidence for a reduction of heat transport inside the magnetic island O point is observed from the propagation of a cold pulse produced by a tracer encapsulated solid pellet in the Large Helical Device. A small peak and slow propagation of the cold pulse are observed inside the island. A significant result is that electron heat diffusivity inside the island is estimated to be 0.2 m(2)/s which is smaller than that outside the island by an order of magnitude. 相似文献

An MR imaging system was developed to visualize brine drainage channels in sea spray icing. Brine pockets trapped in spray-ice matrices during ice growth are structural features of sea spray icing. Brine in the spray ice sample had drained out; therefore, using a suction pump, we filled the air gaps in the drainage channels with dodecane. In the experiments, 0.5-1.0 h was necessary to accumulate signals sufficient to obtain a 3-D micro-image; the image matrix comprised 128(3) voxels (each voxel was 200 microm per side). The MIP view showed that sea spray icing has a developed drainage-channel network structure. 相似文献
