An efficient 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition between aromatic selenoaldehydes and nitrile oxides or nitrile imines: an easy access to selenium-containing five-membered heterocyclic ring system

1,3-Dipolar cycloaddition between aromatic selenoaldehydes, generated by thermal retro Diels-Alder reaction of anthracene cycloadducts, and nitrile oxides or nitrile imines proceeded efficiently to give the corresponding [3+2] cycloadducts as a single isomer in good yields, being 1,4,2-oxaselenazoles or 1,3,4-selenadiazoles, respectively.     

Synthesis and photoluminescence properties of BF2 complexes with 1,3-diketone ligands

BF₂ complexes with 1,3-diketone ligands were synthesized, and their optical and electrochemical properties were studied. The colors of the complexes varied depending on the structures of the 1,3-diketone ligands. The absorption and emission maxima of the complexes with 1,3-diaryl-1,3-diketone ligands were considerably red shifted as compared to those of the complexes with 1-aryl-3-trifluoromethyl-1,3-diketone ligands, suggesting an extended π-conjugation of the 1,3-diaryl-1,3-diketone moieties. The molar absorption coefficients and quantum yields of the complexes with 1,3-diaryl-1,3-diketone ligands were larger than those of the complexes with 1-aryl-3-trifluoromethyl-1,3-diketone ligands. Cyclic voltammetry measurements revealed that the reduction potentials of the BF₂ complexes were higher than those of the free ligands. These complexes exhibited various emission colors in the solid states due to the intermolecular interactions.     

Application and analysis of a DSC-Raman spectroscopy for indium and poly(lactic acid)

Simultaneous measurement system of DSC-Raman spectroscopy and its analysis method are developed. The developed method was applied to the melting of Indium and the optimum laser irradiation condition was determined. The obtained result of the heat flow is similar to the modulated DSC and the precise melting temperature and the heat of fusion can be obtained from the analyzed DSC. DSC-Raman spectroscopy is also applied to PLLA. Analyzed data indicate the existence of the recrystallization behavior in addition to T _g and T _m. Corresponding to these transitions, Raman peak shifts, intensities, and widths varied. From those results, it is proved that DSC-Raman spectroscopy is useful for the analysis of thermal property of the polymer in connection with the polymer structure.     

Preparation of Metallaiminophosphoranes and Their Reactivity

Treatment of [Cp*(CO) 2 M{P(NHPh)(OMe) 2 }]PF 6 (M = Fe and Ru) with NaNH 2 gives metallaiminophosphoranes, Cp*(CO) 2 M{P(NPh)(OMe) 2 }. The x-ray structures and reactivity of the complexes are reported.
