Synthesis and characterization of 9,9‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl and 4‐aminophenyl)dibenzofluorenes: Novel fluorene‐based monomers

Two novel 9,9‐difunctionalized fluorene‐type monomers, 9,9‐bis(4‐hydroxyphenyl‐ and 4‐aminophenyl)‐2,3:6,7‐dibenzofluorenes, are synthesized by the reaction of dibenzenzofluorenone with phenol and aniline. These monomers are used for the preparation of polyester and polyimide as the typical polymers to evaluate the property change such as thermal stability caused by the benzene rings fused to the fluorene skeleton with keeping good solubility, in comparison with the polymers derived from simple fluorenone. In fact, these two new polymers have the fairly enhanced thermal stability and refractive index value along with satisfactory solubility in organic solvents, enough to emphasize the fusion effect. © 2019 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. On the duality and the derivation relations for multiple zeta values

We consider the problem of deducing the duality relation from the extended double shuffle relation for multiple zeta values. Especially we prove that the duality relation for double zeta values and that for the sum of multiple zeta values whose first components are 2’s are deduced from the derivation relation, which is known as a subclass of the extended double shuffle relation.     

Preparation of Metallaiminophosphoranes and Their Reactivity

Treatment of [Cp*(CO) 2 M{P(NHPh)(OMe) 2 }]PF 6 (M = Fe and Ru) with NaNH 2 gives metallaiminophosphoranes, Cp*(CO) 2 M{P(NPh)(OMe) 2 }. The x-ray structures and reactivity of the complexes are reported.     

One‐Pot Stereoselective Synthesis of 2‐Acylaziridines and 2‐Acylpyrrolidines from N‐(Propargylic)hydroxylamines

The stereoselective direct transformation of N‐(propargylic)hydroxylamines into cis‐2‐acylaziridines was achieved by the combined use of AgBF₄ and CuCl. Copper salts were found to promote the transformation of the intermediary 4‐isoxazolines into 2‐acylaziridines and both 3‐aryl‐ and 3‐alkyl‐substituted 2‐acylaziridines could be prepared by using this method. Furthermore, subsequent 1,3‐dipolar cycloaddition of azomethine ylides that were generated in situ from the intermediary 2‐acylaziridines with maleimides was achieved in a stereoselective one‐pot procedure to afford the corresponding 2‐acylpyrrolidines, which consisted of an octahydropyrrolo[3,4‐c]pyrrole skeleton.     

Synthesis of Novel Spiro[indol-2,2′-pyrroles] Using Isocyanide-Based Multicomponent Reaction

An efficient and facile method for the synthesis of novel spiro[indole-2,2′-pyrroles] from N-methyl-3-isatin imines, t-butyl isocyanide, and dialkyl acetylenedicarboxylate has been achieved by [3 + 2] cyclo addition reaction. All the products were purified by column chromatography as yellow solids and confirmed with ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, fast atom bombardment, mass, and infrared. Compound 11 was further confirmed with x-ray analysis.     

Additional cytotoxic substances isolated from the sponge-derived Gymnascella dankaliensis

A continuous investigation of secondary metabolites produced by the sponge-derived fungus, Gymnascella dankaliensis, has yielded a new polyketide tyrosine derivative, dankastatin C (3) and the known steroid, demethylincisterol A₃ (4), which was originally found from a Homaxinella marine sponge. The stereostructure of the new compound has been determined based on the analysis of 1D and 2D NMR data. Dankastatin C (3) showed potent cell growth inhibitory activity against the murine P388 cell line.
