Mechanistic Investigation of Catalyst‐Transfer Suzuki–Miyaura Condensation Polymerization of Thiophene–Pyridine Biaryl Monomers with the Aid of Model Reactions

We have investigated the requirements for efficient Pd‐catalyzed Suzuki–Miyaura catalyst‐transfer condensation polymerization (Pd‐CTCP) reactions of 2‐alkoxypropyl‐6‐(5‐bromothiophen‐2‐yl)‐3‐(4,4,5,5‐tetramethyl‐1,3,2‐dioxaborolan‐2‐yl)pyridine ( 12 ) as a donor–acceptor (D –A) biaryl monomer. As model reactions, we first carried out the Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reaction of X–Py–Th–X′ (Th=thiophene, Py=pyridine, X, X′=Br or I) 1 with phenylboronic acid ester 2 by using tBu3PPd0 as the catalyst. Monosubstitution with a phenyl group at Th‐I mainly took place in the reaction of Br–Py–Th–I ( 1 b ) with 2 , whereas disubstitution selectively occurred in the reaction of I–Py–Th–Br ( 1 c ) with 2 , indicating that the Pd catalyst is intramolecularly transferred from acceptor Py to donor Th. Therefore, we synthesized monomer 12 by introduction of a boronate moiety and bromine into Py and Th, respectively. However, examination of the relationship between monomer conversion and the Mn of the obtained polymer, as well as the matrix‐assisted laser desorption ionization time‐of‐flight (MALDI‐TOF) mass spectra, indicated that Suzuki–Miyaura coupling polymerization of 12 with (o‐tolyl)tBu3PPdBr initiator 13 proceeded in a step‐growth polymerization manner through intermolecular transfer of the Pd catalyst. To understand the discrepancy between the model reactions and polymerization reaction, Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reactions of 1 c with thiopheneboronic acid ester instead of 2 were carried out. This resulted in a decrease of the disubstitution product. Therefore, step‐growth polymerization appears to be due to intermolecular transfer of the Pd catalyst from Th after reductive elimination of the Th‐Pd‐Py complex formed by transmetalation of polymer Th–Br with (Pin)B–Py–Th–Br monomer 12 (Pin=pinacol). Catalysts with similar stabilization energies of metal–arene η2‐coordination for D and A monomers may be needed for CTCP reactions of biaryl D–A monomers. 相似文献

In the research field of single-molecule magnets (SMMs), lanthanoid–lanthanoid interactions, so-called f–f interactions, are known to affect the SMM properties, although their magnitudes are small. In this article, an SMM with very weak f–f interactions is reported, and the effects of the interactions on the SMM properties are discussed. X-ray structural analysis of the DyIII-CdII-phthalocyaninato sextuple-decker complex (Dy2Cd3) reveals that the intramolecular Dy−Dy length in Dy2Cd3 is more than 13 Å, which is longer than the intermolecular Dy−Dy length. Even though the two DyIII ions are far apart, intermolecular ferromagnetic dipole–dipole interactions are observed in Dy2Cd3. From detailed analysis of ac magnetic susceptibilities, quantum tunneling of the magnetization (QTM) in Dy2Cd3 is partially suppressed owing to the existence of very weak Dy−Dy interactions. A flexible electrochromic active matrix addressed display, including 8 × 8 pixels, is demonstrated by using solution processing based on standard printing and coating manufacturing techniques. Each organic electrochromic display (OECD) pixel and its corresponding organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) are located on different sides of the flexible PET substrate. Electronic vias generated through the plastic substrate connects each OECD pixel with one addressing OECT. When comparing this display with actively addressed OECDs with all its components located on the same side, the present approach based on this electronic via substrate provides an enhanced pixel resolution and a relatively more simplified manufacturing process. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Polymers containing 1,4-dihydronicotinamide (P-NAH) alloxan (P-A), and viologen (P-V2+) moieties were synthesized and characterized. P-NAH reduced various organic substances such as lipoic acid, alloxan, and viologens and also immobilized quinone mediated by alloxan. P-A was reduced to the polymer-bearing alloxan radical and the dialuric acid structure without crosslinks by one- and two-electron reduction, respectively, and P-A also mediated the redox reaction occurring between aqueous and organic (water-immiscible) layers. P-V2+ was converted to the stable viologen radical reversibly by one-electron reduction. Electric potentials and currents on photo-reduction of P-V2+ and catalytic behavior of P-V2+ in the reduction of carbonyl compounds were examined. 相似文献

In the hydrosilylation of 1,6-divinyl(perfluorohexane) (FDV) with trichlorosilane (TCS) in the presence of catalytic chloroplatinic acid (Pt-Cat) under an air atmosphere (0.99 MPa), a runaway reaction accompanied by a severe pressure release occurred when Fe2O3 was present as an impurity in the system. In this study, we investigated the mechanism of action of Fe2O3 on this hydrosilylation by monitoring the thermal behavior of TCS/FDV/Pt-Cat/Fe2O3 mixtures with various compositions, using an accelerating rate calorimeter (ARC). In the case of TSC/FDV/Pt-Cat, a typical hydrosilylation composition in the industrial process, heat release, possibly due to hydrosilylation, began at 90 °C. On the other hand, for TCS/FDV/Pt-Cat/Fe2O, the heat release due to hydrosilylation was hardly observed, but abrupt heat and pressure releases occurred at higher temperatures (>170 °C). Like TCS/FDV/Pt-Cat/Fe2O3, TCS/FDV, which contain neither Pt-Cat nor Fe2O3, released heat and pressure at high temperatures (>210 °C), while the heat and pressure release rates were comparatively low. From these results, the runaway reaction may occur when hydrosilylation is prevented, and Fe2O3 behaves as a negative catalyst for hydrosilylation. In the FT-IR spectrum of TCS/FDV/Pt-Cat/Fe2O3 after heating, an absorption peak at approximately 1,710 cm?1, which may be attributed to a carbonyl group, was observed. Thus, it is considered that the runaway reaction observed during the hydrosilylation results from the action of Fe2O3 as a negative catalyst for hydrosilylation as well as as an oxidation catalyst for the by-product generated from the reaction between TCS and FDV. 相似文献

As a fundamental study on the development of dismantlable adhesives containing chemically reactive materials, the thermal behavior and dismantlability of an epoxy adhesive containing one of the twenty-seven inorganic salts (chlorides, perchlorates, and nitrates) were observed. In the thermal behavior measured by the differential scanning calorimetry, epoxy adhesives with inorganic salts containing iron, copper, zinc, and aluminum cations released heats of reaction at lower temperatures than the adhesive alone or the adhesives with other inorganic salts. Since such inorganic salts were considered to be effective candidates as fillers in dismantlable adhesives, the adhesion strengths of their mixtures with the adhesive were observed after heat aging at 270 °C for 30 min. The results showed that both chloride and perchlorate salts specifically decreased the adhesion strength after heating. On the other hand, the effect of nitrate salts on the decrease in adhesion strength was low in comparison with the chloride and perchlorate salts. 相似文献

The molar excess enthalpies of eight systems of butylamines + propanols were determined at 298.15 K using a twin-microcalorimeter. All excess enthalpies were exothermic and large. An equilibrium constant K 1 expressed in terms of mole fractions and standard thermodynamic properties of formation (Δf H, Δf G, Δf S) of 1:1 complex were evaluated by ideal mixtures of monomeric molecules and their associated complexes. Concentration dependence of the FT-Raman spectrum showed systematic changes of bands. Spectroscopic considerations based on this and ab initio calculations on molecules were performed at the Mp2/6-311G(d,p) level of theory. Interaction energies between butylamine and propanol were calculated by the supermolecular and NBO methods. The results were discussed with previous results to clarify the steric and positional effect of the amino and hydroxyl group. 相似文献

Concomitant supplementation of a histone deacetylase inhibitor, suberoylanilide hydroxamic acid, and a DNA methyltransferase inhibitor, 5-azacytidine, to the culture medium of a plant endophytic fungus, Pestalotiopsis acaciae, dramatically altered its metabolic profiles. Polymers containing droplets of liquid crystal smaller than 100 nm, which have good transparency and easily form films, were prepared under various conditions to evaluate their potential as electro-optic materials for waveguide-type devices. By varying the liquid crystal concentration and the strength of the UV irradiation causing photo-induced phase separation of the droplets, we were able to control the droplet size and density. We have clarified how the birefringence generated in an applied electric field, switching speed, and optical loss of light propagating in the film depend on droplet size and density. Polymer materials having a large electro-optic effect (δn = 0.001 at 8 V μm-1), low propagation loss (~2.5 dB cm-1), and fast response time (~10 μs) have been developed. 相似文献

p‐Dodecylbenzenethiol (1) and p‐octyloxybenzenethiol (2) were synthesized as new odorless benzenethiols. Moreover, preparation of novel 1‐thioglycosides using 1 and 2 as well as their application for glycosylation reactions was performed. As a result, it was found that these 1‐thio‐glycosides were excellent glycosyl donors, and especially 2‐thio‐sialoside prepared from 1 and 2 afforded the best result to date in terms of α‐ and β‐selectivity in the sialylation where only the single C‐3 hydroxyl group of acceptor D‐galactopyranoside was free. All procedures from the preparation of thioglycosides to glycosylation reaction were attainable under completely odorless conditions. 相似文献
