N‐Alkyl‐N‐methylpyrrolidinium cations have been used for the design of ionic liquid crystals, including a new type of uranium‐containing metallomesogen. Pyrrolidinium salts with bromide, bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide, tetrafluoroborate, hexafluorophosphate, thiocyanate, tetrakis(2‐ thenoyltrifluoroacetonato)europate(III) and tetrabromouranyl counteranions were prepared. For the bromide salts and tetrabromouranyl compounds, the chain length of the alkyl group CnH2n+1 was varied from eight to twenty carbon atoms (n=8, 10–20). The compounds show rich mesomorphic behaviour: highly ordered smectic phases (the crystal smectic E phase and the uncommon crystal smectic T phase), smectic A phases, and hexagonal columnar phases were observed, depending on chain length and anion. This work gives better insight into the nature and formation of the crystal smectic T phase, and the molecular requirements for the appearance of this highly ordered phase. This uncommon tetragonal mesophase is thoroughly discussed on the basis of detailed powder X‐ray diffraction experiments and in relation to the existing literature. Structural models are proposed for self‐assembly of the molecules within the smectic layers. In addition, the photophysical properties of the compounds containing a metal complex anion were investigated. For the uranium‐containing mesogens, luminescence can be induced by dissolving them in an ionic liquid matrix. The europium‐containing compound shows intense red photoluminescence with high colour purity. 相似文献

This study explored how mathematics content and methods courses for preservice elementary and middle school teachers could be improved through the integration of a set of instructional materials based on the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). A set of eight instructional modules was developed and tested. The study involved 7 university instructors and 542 preservice teachers (PSTs) from three different universities. A quasi‐experimental nonequivalent groups design was used for this study in which the following data sources were collected and analyzed. Three versions of a Learning Mathematics for Teaching test were given to assess PSTs‘ mathematical content knowledge for teaching: (a) Elementary Number Concepts and Operations—Content Knowledge; (b) Elementary Geometry—Content Knowledge; and (c) Middle School Number Concepts and Operations—Content Knowledge. In addition, the Mathematics Teacher Efficacy Beliefs Instrument was given to assess PSTs’ teacher efficacy beliefs. Test results were analyzed using paired samples t‐tests. Findings suggest that use of instructional materials, based on NAEP, with PSTs results in increases in their mathematical content knowledge for teaching and in their teaching efficacy beliefs. 相似文献

Comparative WAXD/SAXS/SEM/DSC structural studies of a series of semi-crystalline poly(oxymethylene) (POM) engineering plastics, including the commercial products, homopolymer Delrin® and typical poly(oxymethylene-co-oxyethylene)s, and a few lab-made POM compositions, were performed. The latter differed in their content of functional additives (present in low concentrations) and POM molecular weight characteristics. In parallel, their densities, thermal behavior/laser-interferometric creep rate spectra (DSC/CRS) at 20-180 °C, as well as long-term creep resistance (LTCR) at 20 °C were studied. It has been found that introducing the nucleating agents and oxyethylene units resulted in formation of more fine spherulitic or practically non-spherulitic structure with close- or loose-packed lamellar stacks. The presence of both “thick” (5-10 nm) and “thin” (1.5-3 nm) lamellae in the weight ratio of ∼3:1 was shown in all cases. Close values of real POM crystallinities, not exceeding 50%, were obtained by WAXD and DSC. A predominant role of “straightened out” or slightly bent tie chains in disordered layers of isotropic POMs was presumed, resulting in segmental dynamics differently constrained by crystallites (DSC/CRS data). As a result, certain morphology - density - creep resistance correlations were found. 相似文献

A brief summary of crystal growth models – the surface diffusion model of Burton, Cabrera and Frank and computer simulation models – is given and these models are confronted with measured (R, σ) curves. It was found that the most (R, σ) curves measured so far can be fitted by BCF curves with 10−2 ≲ σ1 ≲ 10−1 and C having an order of magnitude of 10−4 cm ≲ s−1. ΔG turns out to be 12 ± 5 kcal ≲ mol−1. – Some of the (R, σ) curves can be described better by a nucleus above nucleus formalism. The order of magnitude of A is 10−4 cm · s−1 and 10−2 ≲ B ≲ 10−1. – It is concluded what kind of work should be done in future to check theoretical models. 相似文献

The characterization of fire retardant polymer blends by temperature resolved in-source pyrolysis mass spectrometry (PYMS) is demonstrated with a few examples. Electron impact (EI) and electron capture negative ionization (ECNI) were used to identify the thermal degradation products of polymer blends containing brominated fire retardants. PYMS (EI mode) offers an analytical instrument for a fast analysis of unknown mixtures of polymers and for the presence of fire retardant additives. Under electron impact conditions, in vacuo, low-molecular weight additives like fire retardants mainly evaporate from the polymer matrix. PYMS (EI mode) has been used for the characterization of addition polymers like polystyrene and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer, and for condensation polymers like the polyester poly(butylene terephthalate). Applying electron capture negative ionization, at low argon pressure in the ionization chamber, a more realistic pyrolysis situation is created because the premature loss of volatile additives is suppressed. The selectivity of ECNI for electron accepting groups like bromine makes it possible to study the influence of brominated compounds on the degradation processes in the melt. This is demonstrated by our studies on polystyrene and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer. High-molecular weight pyrolysis products in the m/z range of 1000 - 2000 are detected for p-bromopolystyrene and for a blend of high impact polystyrene with the fire retardant system decabromodiphenyl ether/antimony(III) oxide. In addition to the formation of antimony bromides shown in earlier studies, the emission of the synergist antimony(III) oxide as a dimeric cluster (Sb4O6) or as a reduced Sb4 cluster is observed under PYMS conditions. 相似文献
