Both the Kjeldahl and the Dumas methods for the determination of protein in foodstuffs are currently in use, but the empirical nitrogen factors used to convert the determined nitrogen content to protein content are based on the Kjeldahl method alone. Non-equivalence between the two methods could therefore result in some laboratories reporting an incorrect protein content. We report here a study using data accumulated over several years in the results of a proficiency testing scheme. On average the Dumas method provided results that were relatively higher by about 1.4% than the Kjeldahl method, but the difference between the methods depended on the type of foodstuff. The synthesis of C(4)H and C(4)Me analogues of the JNK/p38 pathway activator anisomycin, based upon an aldol or Claisen construction of the C(3)-C(4) bond, has been demonstrated. The relative activation of the JNK/SAPK1 and p38/SAPK2 pathways in RAW macrophages by these analogues, and their synthetic precursors, has been assessed using immunoblot assays against phosphorylated c-Jun and MAPKAP-K2. Several inorganic esters have been evaluated as phosphoryl transfer catalysts. Of these, Ti(t-BuO)(4) was found to be the most effective catalyst giving excellent yields of the desired phosphate esters. The loading of the catalyst could be reduced to a little as 5 mol % for a majority of substrates with no loss in the yield of product. This methodology is significantly more versatile than using TiCl(4) and is suitable for the phosphorylation of more complex carbohydrates and molecules of biological interest. 相似文献

Fluorinated graphene can be prepared directly by thermal exfoliation of fluorographite. The exfoliation was performed in a dynamic nitrogen atmosphere at various temperatures and the exfoliation products were analysed in detail by GC‐MS. The structure and properties of all prepared fluorinated graphenes with various contents of fluorine were characterized by a number of analytical techniques. The results show both the dependence of fluorine concentration on exfoliation temperature and the suitability of this method for the synthesis of graphene with controlled concentration of fluorine. The high‐temperature exfoliated fluorographite exhibits a high heterogeneous electron transfer rate and excellent catalytic properties towards the oxygen reduction reaction. These synthetic procedures can open a simple way for the synthesis of fluorinated graphene‐based devices with tailored properties. 相似文献
