Synthesis and Structures of γ-Halopropyl-octa(silasesquioxanes) As a more rapid and versatile synthetic approach, we have studied the FeCl₃-catalyzed hydrolytic polycondensation of suited trichlorosilanes in a biphasic system which yields e.g. the new octa(silasesquioxane) (BrCH₂CH₂CH₂)₈Si₈O₁₂.     

An explicit characterization of Calogero-Moser systems

Combining theorems of Halphen, Floquet, and Picard and a Frobenius type analysis, we characterize rational, meromorphic simply periodic, and elliptic KdV potentials. In particular, we explicitly describe the proper extension of the Airault-McKean-Moser locus associated with these three classes of algebro-geometric solutions of the KdV hierarchy with special emphasis on the case of multiple collisions between the poles of solutions. This solves a problem left open since the mid-1970s.

     

Cardinal hermite interpolation with box splines II

Summary In the present work we extent the results in [RS] on CHIP, i.e. Cardinal Hermite Interpolation by the span of translates of directional derivatives of a box spline. These directional derivatives are that ones which define the type of the Hermite Interpolation. We admit here several (linearly independent) directions with multiplicities instead of one direction as in [RS]. Under the same assumptions on the smoothness of the box spline and its defining matrixT we can prove as in [RS]: CHIP has a system of fundamental solutions which are inL L ² together with its directional derivatives mentioned above. Moreover, for data sequences inl ^p ( ^d ), 1p2, there is a spline function inL ^p, 1/p+1/p=1, which solves CHIP.Research supported in part by NSERC Canada under Grant # A7687. G-invariante Morse-funktionen

If f is a Morse function on a smooth manifold M there exists a homotopy equivalence from M to a CW complex X such that the critical points of f with index are in a one-one correspondence to the -cells of X. In the equivariant case, a similar result holds for a special type of invariant Morse functions. In this paper we prove the existence of such special invariant Morse functions on compact smooth G-manifolds. As a consequence, any compact smooth G-manifold is homotopy equivalent to a G-CW complex. Other applications deal with the Euler number of the fixed point set and Morse inequalities in equivariant homology theory.
