The ground state g-factor for 55Co has been measured as ¦g¦= 1.378±0.001 by the technique of nuclear magnetic resonance on oriented nuclei. The temperature dependence of γ-ray anisotropy in the 55Fe daughter decay determines both the 1408 keV level spin and the 55Co ground state spin to be 72, and yields values of mixing ratios in the 1037 keV β-transition and the 477 keV γ-transition. The gas phase basicities of a series of cyclic and acyclic N-nitrosamines were determined by ion cyclotron resonance techniques. The fragmentation pattern and ion-molecule reactions of these compounds are discussed in terms of high resolution mass spectrometry and deuterium labeling. The presence of a unique rearrangement of the molecular ion is discussed in terms of specific ion-molecule proton transfer reactions and fragment ion products.  相似文献

Using a high-speed photographic technique, we have recorded directly the crystalline distortion associated with a first-order phase transition in tetrathiafulvalenium-bis-ditholene (Cu). This structural distortion, at a temperature of 238 K, has been observed as a crystal motion through an angle of the order of 10°. The phase change may be important in establishing the one-dimensional magnetic character of the crystal that leads to a spin-dimerization transition at a temperature of 12 K.  相似文献

Inclusive4He and4H energy spectra and heavy fragment coincidence correlations have been measured for reactions of 7.31 MeV/u238U with238U and?197Au targets. The H/He production cross sections are in the range 15–26 mb, and their emission spectra are very similar for the two systems. The observed strong kinematic shifts with angle are reproduced in shape and magnitude by Monte Carlo simulations of particle evaporation from projectile-like and target-like fragments, indicating competition between charged particle emission and sequential fission. No evidence is found for high energy charged particle emission associated with ultra-highZ composite systems. Heavy fragment measurements indicate an abundance of quasielastic and deeply inelastic reaction fragments, as well as sequential fission of target and projectile nuclei. For238U nuclei, the fission occurs predominantly in an asymmetric mode, reminiscent of fission at low excitation energy. For238+238U reactions in the vicinity of the grazing angle, the frequency of single sequential fission (with survival of the partner fragment) is twice as large as double sequential fission in which both the target and projectile undergo fission. In238U+197Au reactions, the survival probability of the heavy fragments is even greater. The surprisingly high survival probabilities of high-Z fragments imply a preponderance of very soft collisions in these very-heavy-ion reactions, at least at energies not very far over the Coulomb barrier.  相似文献

The possibility of excitation of the 238U shape-isomer by the atomic cascade of a negative muon has been investigated by a search for back-decay γ-rays. No candidates for such γ-rays have been found with yields greater than 1% per stopping muon, indicating that the probability of the isomer excitation by muons is less than 3%. The lifetime of a μ? bound to 238U has been determined from capture γ-rays to be 79.1 ± 0.5 ns, which also set the upper limit of this probability to 7–15%.  相似文献
