We report a determination of the B(0)(d)-&B_(0)(d) mixing parameter Deltam(d) based on the time evolution of dilepton yields in Upsilon(4S) decays. The measurement is based on a 5.9 fb(-1) data sample collected by the Belle detector at KEKB. The proper-time difference distributions for same-sign and opposite-sign dilepton events are simultaneously fitted to an expression containing Deltam(d) as a free parameter. Using both muons and electrons, we obtain Deltam(d) = 0.463+/-0.008 (stat)+/-0.016 (syst) ps(-1). This is the first determination of Deltam(d) from time evolution measurements at the Upsilon(4S). We also place limits on possible CPT violations.  相似文献

The total squared curvature of a closed plane curve is minimized by a covering of a circle, if the rotation number of the curve is not zero. We measure the closeness of a closed plane curve to a circle by the difference of its total squared curvature from the minimum. The radiation chemical yields of the products derived from the triplet excited state produced in the radiolysis of liquid benzene with gamma-rays, 10 MeV 4He ions, and 10 MeV 12C ions have been determined. Iodine scavenging techniques have been used to examine the formation and role of radicals, especially the H atom and phenyl radical. For all irradiation types examined here, the increase in hydrogen iodide yields with increasing iodine concentration matches the increase in iodobenzene yields. This agreement suggests that the benzene triplet excited state is the common precursor for the H atom and the phenyl radical. Pulse radiolysis studies in liquid benzene have determined the rate coefficients for the reactions of phenyl radicals with iodine and with the solvent benzene to be 9.3 x 10(9) M(-1) s(-1) and 3.1 x 10(5) M(-1) s(-1), respectively. Direct measurements of polymer formation, which refers to trimers (C18) and higher order compounds (>C18), in liquid benzene radiolysis using gamma-rays, 4He ions, and 12C ions at relatively high doses have been performed using gel permeation chromatography. The yields of trimers increase from gamma-rays to 12C ions due to the increased importance of intratrack radical-radical reactions that can be scavenged by the radical scavenging reactions of iodine. On the other hand, the >C18 product yields decrease from gamma-rays to 12C ions. The structure of the polymer consists of a partly saturated ring as determined by infrared and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry studies. A schematic representation for the radiolytic decomposition of the benzene triplet excited state is presented.  相似文献

Fluorohydrogenate salts of quaternary phosphonium cations with alkyl and methoxy groups (tetraethylphosphonium (P(2222)(+)), triethyl-n-pentylphosphonium (P(2225)(+)), triethyl-n-octylphosphonium (P(2228)(+)), and triethylmethoxymethylphosphonium (P(222(101))(+))) have been synthesized by the metatheses of anhydrous hydrogen fluoride and the corresponding phosphonium bromide or chloride precursors. The three salts with asymmetric cations, P(222m)(FH)(2.1)F (m = 5, 8, and 101), are room temperature ionic liquids (ILs) and are characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, density, viscosity, and conductivity measurements. Linear sweep voltammetry using a glassy carbon working electrode shows these phosphonium fluorohydrogenate ILs have wide electrochemical windows (>4.9 V) with the lowest viscosity and highest conductivity in the known phosphonium-based ILs. Thermogravimetry shows their thermal stabilities are also improved compared to previously reported alkylammonium cation-based fluorohydrogenate salts. Differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction revealed that tetraethylphosphonium fluorohydrogenate salt, P(2222)(FH)(2)F, exhibits two plastic crystal phases. The high temperature phase has a hexagonal lattice, which is the first example of a plastic crystal phase with an inverse nickel arsenide-type structure, and the low-temperature phase has an orthorhombic lattice. The high-temperature plastic crystal phase exhibits a conductivity of 5 mS cm(-1) at 50 °C, which is the highest value for the neat plastic crystals.  相似文献

Abstract— The mechanism of action of psoralen plus UVA (PUVA) and photopheresis is not entirely understood. These therapies are assumed to be immunomodulating partly by gradually decreasing leukocyte viability. We investigated whether this delayed form of cell death was due to apoptosis. Untreated and treated (PUVA exposed) leukocytes obtained from six patients with systemic sclerosis and (untreated) leukocytes from healthy control individuals were studied. Qualitative gel electrophoresis and quantitative in situ nick translation analysis of DNA fragmentation was performed. Apoptosis of the treated cells did occur (gel electrophoresis) after 24 h. At t = 0 h, immediately after exposure to PUVA, there was no evidence of DNA fragmentation in the treated cells. The percentage of treated cells undergoing apoptosis was 20–55% at t = 24 h ( in situ nick translation). The untreated leukocytes of the patients and the healthy individuals showed no distinctive rise in apoptotic cells. Apoptosis of the leukocytes after PUVA or photopheresis treatment might be a mechanism of action and might explain the therapeutic response.  相似文献

Hairpin pyrrole-imidazole polyamides (hPIPs) and their chlorambucil (Chb) conjugates (hPIP-Chbs) can alkylate DNA in a sequence-specific manner, and have been studied as anticancer drugs. Here, we conjugated Chb to a cyclic PIP (cPIP), which is known to have a higher binding affinity than the corresponding hPIP, and investigated the DNA alkylation properties of the resulting cPIP-Chb using the optimized capillary electrophoresis method and conventional HPLC product analysis. cPIP-Chb conjugate 3 showed higher alkylation activity at its binding sites than did hPIP-Chb conjugates 1 and 2 . Subsequent HPLC analysis revealed that the alkylation site of conjugate 3 , which was identified by capillary electrophoresis, was reliable and that conjugate 3 alkylates the N3 position of adenine as do hPIP-Chbs. Moreover, conjugate 3 showed higher cytotoxicity against LNCaP prostate cancer cells than did conjugate 1 and cytotoxicity comparable to that of conjugate 2 . These results suggest that cPIP-Chbs could be novel DNA alkylating anticancer drugs.  相似文献

Activated opioid receptors transmit internal signals through two major pathways: the G-protein-mediated pathway, which exerts analgesia, and the β-arrestin-mediated pathway, which leads to unfavorable side effects. Hence, G-protein-biased opioid agonists are preferable as opioid analgesics. Rubiscolins, the spinach-derived naturally occurring opioid peptides, are selective δ opioid receptor agonists, and their p.o. administration exhibits antinociceptive effects. Although the potency and effect of rubiscolins as G-protein-biased molecules are partially confirmed, their in vitro profiles remain unclear. We, therefore, evaluated the properties of rubiscolins, in detail, through several analyses, including the CellKeyTM assay, cADDis® cAMP assay, and PathHunter® β-arrestin recruitment assay, using cells stably expressing µ, δ, κ, or µ/δ heteromer opioid receptors. In the CellKeyTM assay, rubiscolins showed selective agonistic effects for δ opioid receptor and little agonistic or antagonistic effects for µ and κ opioid receptors. Furthermore, rubiscolins were found to be G-protein-biased δ opioid receptor agonists based on the results obtained in cADDis® cAMP and PathHunter® β-arrestin recruitment assays. Finally, we found, for the first time, that they are also partially agonistic for the µ/δ dimers. In conclusion, rubiscolins could serve as attractive seeds, as δ opioid receptor-specific agonists, for the development of novel opioid analgesics with reduced side effects.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles have been conformally coated with amorphous silica (using a sol-gel method) and then an organic polymer (via surface-grafted, atom transfer radical polymerization) to form spherical colloids with a core-double-shell structure. The thickness of silica and polymer shells could be conveniently controlled in the range of tens to several hundred nanometers by changing the concentration of the reagent and/or the reaction time. Selective removal of the silica layer (through etching in aqueous HF) led to the formation of hollow polymer beads containing movable gold cores. This new form of core-shell particles provides a unique system for measuring the feature size and transport property associated with hollow particles. In one demonstration, we showed that the thickness of a closed polymer shell could be obtained by mapping the electrons backscattered from the core and shell. In another demonstration, the plasmon resonance band of the gold cores was used as an optical probe to follow the diffusion kinetics of chemical reagents across the polymer shells.  相似文献

High level ab initio calculations using complete active space self-consistent field and multi reference single and double excitation configuration interaction methods with cc-pVDZ (correlation consistent polarized valence double zeta) and cc-pVTZ (triple zeta) basis sets have been performed to elucidate the reaction mechanism of the ion-molecule reaction, C2H2(1Sigmag+) + O+(4S), for which collision experiment has been performed by Chiu et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 109, 5300 (1998)]. The minor low-energy process leading to the weak spin-forbidden product C2H2+ (2Piu) + O(1D) has been studied previously and will not be discussed here. The major pathways to form charge-transfer (CT) products, C2H2+ (2Piu) + O(3P) (CT1) and C2H2+ (4A2) + O(3P) (CT2), and the covalently bound intermediates are investigated. The approach of the oxygen atom cation to acetylene goes over an energy barrier TS1 of 29 kcal/mol (relative to the reactant) and adiabatically leads the CT2 product or a weakly bound intermediate Int1 between CT2 products. This transition state TS1 is caused by the avoided crossing between the reactant and CT2 electronic states. As the C-O distance becomes shorter beyond the above intermediate, the C1 reaction pathway is energetically more favorable than the Cs pathway and goes over the second transition state TS2 of a relative energy of 39 kcal/mol. Although this TS connects diabatically to the covalent intermediate Int2, there are many states that interact adiabatically with this diabatic state and these lead to the other charge-transfer product CT1 via either of several nonadiabatic transitions. These findings are consistent with the experiment, in which charge transfer and chemical reaction products are detected above 35 and 39 kcal/mol collision energies, respectively.  相似文献
