Three 0.5% cold-leg small-break loss-of-coolant accident (SBLOCA) experiment were conducted at the ROSA-IV Large Scale Test Facility (LSTF) to investigate the effects of break orientation on system thermal-hydraulic responses. In these three experiments, the break hole was located at the side, bottom, and top of the horizontal cold leg, respectively. Although the key phenomena observed in the three experiments were basically the same, the break flow rate was affected by the break orientation when phase stratification occured in the cold leg; the break flow rate was largest for the side break and smallest for the top break. The RELAP5/MOD2 code failed to predict the difference in the break flow rate observed in the experiments. Modification to the break flow calculation models, for both subcooled and two-phase flow discharge conditions, resulted in good agreement between data and predictions.  相似文献

Alkali-free lead phosphate glasses containing silver chloride have been developed for anion responsive sensors. From measurements of the final glass compositions by electron probe microanalysis, it became clear that some of chloride ions in the glass bulk were not volatilized during the glass melting process. Compared with phosphate glasses containing silver oxide, the new glass electrodes containing silver chloride could respond more rapidly, although the response behaviour for anionic species were similar. From the electrode potential vs. time curve for the anionic species, the potential rapidly reached equilibrium when these concentrations varied from 10?5 to 10?2 M. The response times, t95, to thiocyanate of the new glass electrode and the phosphate glass electrode containing silver oxide were 30 and 110 s, respectively. Moreover, the response time required for an initial potential change with a concentration jump of thiocyanate with the new glass electrode was found to be independent of the membrane thickness within about 2 mm and of the measuring temperature between 15 and 40°C. It is concluded that the diffusion process of species such as silver ion in the glass bulk does not take part in the initial part of the response behaviour.  相似文献

The passages of vapor flow and the returning liquid flow, are perfectly partitioned in a separate thermosyphon. Therefore the flooding limit can be eliminated, and practicability based on its construction is highly evaluated. In the present work, a container tube made of heat resisting glass, in which an electric heater is inserted, is selected as the heating section of the experimental equipment. Distilled water is used as the working fluid. The influence of the heater type, the diameter of evaporating section and the liquid fill charge on the heat transfer performance have been studied. The larger heat transfer coefficient is achieved in the case of the U type heater, the larger tube diameter and the less liquid fill charge of the evaporating section. The useful correlation equations of the heat transfer coefficient in the evaporator have been derived.
Experimentelle Untersuchung an einem Trennstrom-Thermosiphon
Zusammenfassung In einem Trennstrom-Thermosiphon sind die Strömungskanäle für die Dampfströmung und den Kondensatrücklauf vollkommen separiert. Die Flutgrenze kann deshalb unberücksichtigt bleiben. In dieser Untersuchung dient ein temperaturbeständiges Glasrohr mit innenliegender Heizung als Wärmequelle. Arbeitsmedium ist destilliertes Wasser. Untersucht wurden der Einfluß des Heizelementtyps, des Durchmessers der Verdampferstrecke und der Füllmenge auf das Wärmeüber-gangsverhalten. Das U-Typ Heizelement liefert bei größerem Rohrdurchmesser und geringerer Füllmenge in der Verdampferstrecke die höchsten Wärmeübergangskoeffizienten. Für diese wurden Korrelationsgleichungen aufgestellt.

New moment equations were developed for chromatography using superficially porous (shell-type) spherical particles, which have recently attracted much attention as one of separation media for fast separation with high efficiency. At first, the moment equations of the first absolute and second central moments in the real time domain were derived from the analytical solution in the Laplace domain of a set of basic equations of the general rate model of chromatography, which represent the mass balance, mass-transfer rate, and reaction kinetics in the column packed with shell-type particles. Then, the moment equations were used for analyzing the experimental data of chromatography of kallidin in a Halo column, which were published in a previous paper written by other researchers. It was tried to predict the chromatographic behavior of shell-type particles having different shell thicknesses. The new moment equations are useful for a detailed analysis of the chromatographic behavior of shell-type spherical particles. It is also concluded that they can be used for the preliminarily optimization of their structural characteristics.  相似文献

We report a unique macromolecule consisting of a rodlike helical polyisocyanide backbone with a narrow molecular weight distribution and rigid mesogenic chiral pendants linked via a flexible spacer that exhibits lyotropic nematic and latticelike new smectic (lat-Sm) liquid crystal phases at different concentrations. The unprecedented lat-Sm phase is associated with the smectic ordering of both the stiff polymer backbone and the rigid-rod side groups. A detailed investigation of the films using X-ray scattering and atomic force microscopy revealed a novel tilted smectic layer structure of the polymer backbone aligned perpendicular to the smectic layer of the mesogenic pendants, which arrange in an antiparallel overlapping interdigitated manner.  相似文献

It was tried to estimate the molecular diffusivity (D(m)) of solutes in the mixtures of acetonitrile (ACN) and water by the Wilke-Chang equation. Although the information about association coefficient (α) is necessary for the calculation, it has never been proposed for ACN. The value of α was estimated as 1.37 from D(m) of benzene in ACN at 303 K experimentally measured by the peak parking method. The values of α, i.e. 2.6, 1.9, 1.5, and 1.0, which have respectively been proposed for four solvents, i.e. water, methanol, ethanol, and benzene, were correlated with two physico-chemical parameters of the solvents, i.e. solubility parameter and E(T) value. The α value for ACN was plotted around the two correlations, indicating its appropriateness. The values of D(m) calculated by the Wilke-Chang equation using the α value for ACN were compared with those measured by the peak parking method and the Aris-Taylor method in aqueous solutions of ACN. The mean square deviation of the estimation of D(m) was calculated as 8.8 and 14%. It was demonstrated that the Wilke-Chang equation can be used for estimating D(m) with a reasonable accuracy in the mixtures consisting of ACN and water.  相似文献

(19)F NMR/MRI probe is expected to be a powerful tool for selective sensing of biologically active agents owing to its high sensitivity and no background signals in live bodies. We have recently reported a unique supramolecular strategy for specific protein detection using a protein ligand-tethered self-assembling (19)F probe. This method is based on a recognition-driven disassembly of the nanoprobes, which induced a clear turn-on signal of (19)F NMR/MRI. In the present study, we conducted a systematic investigation of the relationship between structure and properties of the probe to elucidate the mechanism of this turn-on (19)F NMR sensing in detail. Newly synthesized (19)F probes showed three distinct behaviors in response to the target protein: off/on, always-on, and always-off modes. We clearly demonstrated that these differences in protein response could be explained by differences in the stability of the probe aggregates and that "moderate stability" of the aggregates produced an ideal turn-on response in protein detection. We also successfully controlled the aggregate stability by changing the hydrophobicity/hydrophilicity balance of the probes. The detailed understanding of the detection mechanism allowed us to rationally design a turn-on (19)F NMR probe with improved sensitivity, giving a higher image intensity for the target protein in (19)F MRI.  相似文献

Five types of non-symmetric calamitic dimers were synthesized to investigate the effect of the core structure and length of the spacer on mesomorphic properties. Two non-symmetric dimers containing a troponoid and benzenoid unit showed smectic A and C phases whereas the corresponding benzenoid dimers showed no mesophase. Non-symmetric dimers with a three-ring system showed smectic A and C phases with higher transition temperatures than the two-ring system. We propose packing models for these non-symmetric dimers by considering the direction of the dipole moments of the ring structures and microsegregation between the polar units and the non-polar chains.  相似文献
