We report molecular structures and temperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility data for several new metal complexes of heterospin triplet ground-state biradical ligands. The ligands are comprised of both nitronyl-nitroxide (NN) and semiquinone (SQ) spin carriers. Five compounds are five-coordinate M(II) complexes (M = Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn), and one is a six-coordinate Ni(II) complex. Five compounds were structurally characterized. During copper complex formation a reaction with methanol occurs to form a unique methoxy-substituted SQ ring. Variable-temperature magnetic susceptibility studies are consistent with strong intraligand (NN-SQ and NN-PhSQ) ferromagnetic exchange coupling. For the five-coordinate Mn, Co, and Ni complexes, the S = 1 ligand is antiferromagnetically coupled to the metal. For both the five-coordinate Cu complex and the six-coordinate Ni complex, the ligand is ferromagnetically coupled to the metal spins in accordance with orbital symmetry arguments. Despite the low molecular symmetries, the predicted trend in metal-ligand exchange interactions is supported by spin dimer analysis based on extended Hückel calculations. For (NN-SQ)NiTp(Cum,Me)() (Tp(Cum,Me)() = hydro-tris(3-cumenyl-5-methylpyrazolyl)borate), an antisymmetric exchange term was required for the best fit of the magnetic susceptibility data. Antisymmetric exchange was less important for the other complexes due to inherently smaller Deltag. Finally, it is shown that intraligand exchange coupling is of paramount importance in stabilizing high-spin states of mixed metal-biradical complexes.  相似文献

Reaction of Mn(ClO4)2 with di-pyridyl ketone oxime, (2-py)2C=NOH, gives the novel cluster [Mn(II)4Mn(III)6Mn(IV)2(mu4-O)2(mu3-O)4(mu3-OH)4(mu3-OCH3)2(pko)12](OH)(ClO4)3 1. It is the only example of a 24-MC-8, and the first metallacrown with ring metal ions in three different oxidation states. Magnetic measurements show antiferromagnetic behavior.  相似文献

Binuclear manganese complexes Mn2(III/IV)(dtsalpn)2DCBI, 1, Mn2(III/III)(dtsalpn)2HDCBI, 2, containing the ligand dicarboxyimidazole (DCBI) have been prepared in order to address the issue of imidazole bridged and ferromagnetically coupled Mn sites in high oxidation states of the OEC in Photosystem II (PS II). Temperature dependent magnetic susceptibility studies of 1 indicates that the interaction between the two Mn(III)/Mn(IV) ions is ferromagnetic (J = +1.4 cm(-1)). Variable temperature EPR spectra of 1 shows that a g = 2 multiline is as an excited state signal corresponding to S = 1/2.  相似文献

We report here the synthesis and the investigation of the magnetic properties of a series of binuclear lanthanide complexes belonging to the metallacrown family. The isostructural complexes have a core structure with the general formula [Ga4Ln2(shi3–)4(Hshi2–)2(H2shi)2(C5H5N)4(CH3OH)x(H2O)xxC5H5xCH3OH·xH2O (where H3shi = salicylhydroxamic acid and Ln = GdIII1; TbIII2; DyIII3; ErIII4; YIII5; YIII0.9DyIII0.16). Apart from the Er-containing complex, all complexes exhibit an antiferromagnetic exchange coupling leading to a diamagnetic ground state. Magnetic studies, below 2 K, on a single crystal of 3 using a micro-squid array reveal an opening of the magnetic hysteresis cycle at zero field. The dynamic susceptibility studies of 3 and of the diluted DyY 6 complexes reveal the presence of two relaxation processes for 3 that are due to the excited ferromagnetic state and to the uncoupled DyIII ions. The antiferromagnetic coupling in 3 was shown to be mainly due to an exchange mechanism, which accounts for about 2/3 of the energy gap between the antiferro- and the ferromagnetic states. The overlap integrals between the Natural Spin Orbitals (NSOs) of the mononuclear fragments, which are related to the magnitude of the antiferromagnetic exchange, are one order of magnitude larger for the Dy2 than for the Er2 complex.  相似文献

In view of the biological and commercial interest in models for Oxalate Decarboxylases (OxDC) and Oxalate Oxidases (OxOx), we have synthesized and characterized three new Mn (II) complexes ( 1- 3) employing N3O-donor amino-carboxylate ligands (TCMA, 1,4,7-triazacyclononane- N-acetic acid; K (i) Pr 2TCMA, potassium 1,4-diisopropyl-1,4,7-triazacyclononane- N-acetate; and KBPZG, potassium N,N-bis(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl methyl)glycinate). These complexes were characterized by several techniques including X-ray crystallographic analysis, X-band electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR), electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), and cyclic voltammetry. The crystal structures of 1 and 3 revealed that both form infinite polymeric chains of Mn (II) complexes linked by the pendant carboxylate arms of the TCMA (-) and the BPZG (-) ligands in a syn-antipattern. Complex 2 crystallizes as a mononuclear Mn (II) cation, six-coordinate in a distorted octahedral geometry. Although complexes 1 and 3 crystallize as polymeric chains, all compounds present the same N3O-donor set atoms around the metal center as observed in the crystallographically characterized OxDC and OxOx. Moreover, complex 2 also contains two water molecules coordinated to the Mn center as observed in the active site of OxDC and OxOx. ESI-MS spectrometry, combined with EPR, were useful techniques to establish that complexes 1- 3 are present as mononuclear Mn (II) species in solution. Finally, complexes 1- 3 are able to model the resting state active sites, with special attention focused on complex 2 which provides the first exact first coordination sphere ligand structural model for the resting states of both OxDC and OxOx.  相似文献

The ligand 4,5-dicarboxyimidazole (H(2)DCI) and its methyl derivative 1-methyl-4,5-dicarboxyimidazole (H(2)MDCI) have been shown to bind to Be(II) forming a zwitterionic species that has been structurally characterized. A new dicarboxyimidazole-based polymer has been prepared and its Be-binding properties have been studied using NMR ((1)H and (9)Be) and fluorescence spectroscopy; it represents a rare example of beryllium binding to a polymer. Models of the mononuclear and polymeric Be(II)-binding sites have been studied using density functional theory (DFT), and the (9)Be NMR chemical shifts of these model materials have been calculated for the purpose of direct comparison to experimentally observed values. Differences in the binding modes of the mononuclear and polymeric species are discussed.  相似文献

Complexes of the type N≡Mo(OR)(3) (R = tertiary alkyl, tertiary silyl, bulky aryl) have been synthesized in the search for molybdenum-based nitrile-alkyne cross-metathesis (NACM) catalysts. Protonolysis of known N≡Mo(NMe(2))(3) led to the formation of N≡Mo(O-2,6-(i)Pr(2)C(6)H(3))(3)(NHMe(2)) (12), N≡Mo(OSiPh(3))(3)(NHMe(2)) (5-NHMe(2)), and N≡Mo(OCPh(2)Me)(3)(NHMe(2)) (17-NHMe(2)). The X-ray structure of 12 revealed an NHMe(2) ligand bound cis to the nitrido ligand, while 5-NHMe(2) possessed an NHMe(2) bound trans to the nitride ligand. Consequently, 17-NHMe(2) readily lost its amine ligand to form N≡Mo(OCPh(2)Me)(3) (17), while 12 and 5-NHMe(2) retained their amine ligands in solution. Starting from bulkier tris-anilide complexes, N≡Mo(N[R]Ar)(3) (R = isopropyl, tert-butyl; Ar = 3,5-dimethylphenyl) allowed for the formation of base-free complexes N≡Mo(OSiPh(3))(3) (5) and N≡Mo(OSiPh(2)(t)Bu)(3) (16). Achievement of a NACM cycle requires the nitride complex to react with alkynes to form alkylidyne complexes; therefore the alkyne cross-metathesis (ACM) activity of the complexes was tested. Complex 5 was found to be an efficient catalyst for the ACM of 1-phenyl-1-butyne at room temperature. Complexes 12 and 5-NHMe(2) were also active for ACM at 75 °C, while 17-NHMe(2) and 16 did not show ACM activity. Only 5 proved to be active for the NACM of anisonitrile, which is a reactive substrate in NACM catalyzed by tungsten. NACM with 5 required a reaction temperature of 180 °C in order to initiate the requisite alkylidyne-to-nitride conversion, with slightly more than two turnovers achieved prior to catalyst deactivation. Known molybdenum nitrido complexes were screened for NACM activity under similar conditions, and only N≡Mo(OSiPh(3))(3)(py) (5-py) displayed any trace of NACM activity.  相似文献

The ground state of a double-exchange model for orbitally degenerate e(g) electrons with Jahn-Teller lattice coupling and weak disorder is found to be spatially inhomogeneous near half filling. Using a real-space Monte Carlo method we show that doping the half-filled orbitally ordered insulator leads to the appearance of hole-rich disordered regions in an orbitally ordered environment. The doping driven orbital order to disorder transition is accompanied by the emergence of metallic behavior. We present results on transport and optical properties along with spatial patterns for lattice distortions and charge densities, providing a basis for an overall understanding of the low-doping phase diagram of La1 - xCaxMnO3.  相似文献
