While momentum transfer from active particles to their immediate surroundings has been studied for both synthetic and biological micron‐scale systems, a similar phenomenon was presumed unlikely to exist at smaller length scales due to the dominance of viscosity in the ultralow Reynolds number regime. Using diffusion NMR spectroscopy, we studied the motion of two passive tracers—tetramethylsilane and benzene—dissolved in an organic solution of active Grubbs catalyst. Significant enhancements in diffusion were observed for both the tracers and the catalyst as a function of reaction rate. A similar behavior was also observed for the enzyme urease in aqueous solution. Surprisingly, momentum transfer at the molecular scale closely resembles that reported for microscale systems and appears to be independent of swimming mechanism. Our work provides new insight into the role of active particles on advection and mixing at the Ångström scale. 相似文献

Mononuclear divalent complexes of Co, Ni, Cu and Zn derived from a benzofuran‐based novel hydrazone tridentate ligand were synthesized and characterized using various spectroscopic methods. Elemental analysis reveals that the metal‐to‐ligand ratio is 1:2 which is supported by mass spectrometry results. Conductivity measurements suggest that all the complexes are non‐electrolytic in nature. The ligand and complexes were evaluated for their antimicrobial potency. Bioassay of all hydrazone chelates shows enhanced activity as compared to that of the ligand. The complex with cobalt ion as the metal centre shows better activity against fungi than the standard. Also, ligand and complexes were screened for antituberculosis activity; some analogues (Ni, Cu, Zn) are eight times more active than the standard. L-Tyrosine and iodinated L-tyrosines, i.e., 3-iodo-L-tyrosine and 3,5-diiodo-L-tyrosine, are successfully used as chiral references for the chiral discrimination of aliphatic, acidic, and aromatic amino acids. Chiral discrimination is achieved by investigating the collision-induced dissociation spectra of the trimeric complex [Cu(II)(ref)(2)(A) - H](+) ion generated by electro spraying the mixture of D- or L-analyte amino acid (A), chiral reference ligand (ref) and M(II)Cl(2) (M = Ni and Cu). The relative abundances of fragment ions resulted by the competitive loss of reference and analyte amino acids are considered for measuring the degree of chiral discrimination by applying the kinetic method. The chiral discrimination ability increases as the number of iodine atom increases on the aromatic ring of the reference and the discrimination is better with Cu when compared with Ni. A large chiral discrimination is obtained for aliphatic and aromatic amino acids using iodinated L-tyrosine as the reference. Computational studies on the different stabilities of the diastereomeric complexes also support the observed differences measured by the kinetic method. The suitability of the method in the measurement of enantiomeric excess over the range of 2% to 100% ee with relative error 0.28% to 1.6% is also demonstrated. 相似文献

Photoisomerization and thermal isomerization behaviors of an extensive series of arylazoimidazoles are investigated. Absorption spectra are characterized by a structured pipi* absorption band around 330-400 nm with a tail on the lower energy side extending to 500 nm corresponding to an npi* transition. The trans-to-cis photoisomerization occurs on excitation into these absorption bands. The quantum yields are dependent on the excitation wavelength, as observed for azobenzene derivatives, but are generally larger than those of azobenzene. The thermal cis-to-trans isomerization rates are also generally larger than that of azobenzene and are comparable to those of 4-N,N-dimethylaminoazobenzene and 4-nitroazobenzene. Arylazoimidazoles with no substituent on the imidazole nitrogen are unique in that the quantum yield for the trans-to-cis photoisomerization and the rate of thermal cis-to-trans isomerization are particularly large. It is proposed that the fast thermal isomerization is due to an involvement of self-catalyzed and protic molecule-assisted tautomerization to a hydrazone form. 相似文献

Complexes of the general formula [ReIII(L)Cl(PPh3)2] have been synthesised by reacting H2L and [ReOCl3(PPh3)2] in ethanol. Here H2L represents imines of α-amino acids (glycine, l-alanine, l-valine, l-phenylalanine) derived from salicylaldehyde and naphthaldehyde. The crystal structure of one complex has been determined. The complexes are mononuclear, paramagnetic and display paramagnetic 1H NMR in CDCl3 solution. Their spectral and redox properties are scrutinised. 相似文献

Apoptosis is defined by a distinct set of morphological changes observed during cell death including loss of focal adhesions, the formation of cell membrane buds or blebs, and a decrease in total cell volume. Recent studies suggest that these dramatic morphological changes, particularly apoptotic volume decrease (AVD), are an early prerequisite to apoptosis and precede key biochemical time-points. Here we use atomic force microscopy to observe early stage AVD of KB cells undergoing staurosporine-induced apoptosis. After a 3-h exposure to 1 microM staurosporine, a 32% decrease in total cell height and a 50% loss of total cell volume is observed accompanied by only a 15% change in cell diameter. The observed AVD precedes key biochemical hallmarks of apoptosis such as loss of mitochondrial membrane potential, phosphatidyl serine translocation, nuclear fragmentation, and measurable caspase-3 activity. This suggests that morphological volume changes occur very early in the induction of apoptosis. 相似文献

Quantum chemical insights into normal Pd‐C2(NHCR) and abnormal Pd‐C5(aNHCR) bonding, dominated by dispersion interactions in N‐hetereocyclic carbene complexes [PdCl2(NHCR)2] ( I , R = H; II , R = Ph; III , R = Mes (2,4,6‐trimethyl)phenyl)) and [PdCl2(NHCR)(aNHCR] ( IV , R = H; V , R = Ph; VI , R = Mes) have been investigated at DFT and DFT‐D3(BJ) level of theory with particular emphasis on the effects of the noncovalent interactions on the structures and the nature of Pd‐C2(NHCR) and Pd‐C5(aNHCR) bonds. The optimized geometries are good agreement with the experimental values. The Pd‐C bonds are essentially single bond. Hirshfeld charge distributions indicate that the abnormal aNHCR carbene ligand is relatively better electron donor than the normal NHCR carbene ligand. The C2 atom has larger %s contribution along Pd‐C2 bond than the C5 atom along Pd‐C5 bond. As a consequence the Pd‐C2(NHCR) bonds are relative stronger than the Pd‐C5(aNHCR) bonds. Thus, the results of natural hybrid orbital analysis support the key point of the present study. Calculations predict that for bulky substituent (R = Ph, Mes) at carbene, the Pd‐C2(NHCR) bond is stronger than Pd‐C5(aNHCR) bond due to large dispersion energy in [PdCl2(NHCR)2] than in [PdCl2(NHCR)(aNHCR)]. However, in case of non‐bulky substituent with small and almost equal contribution of dispersion energy, the Pd‐C2(NHCR) bond is relative weaker than Pd‐C5(aNHCR) bond. The bond dissociation energies are dependent on the R substituent, the DFT functional and the inclusion of dispersion interactions. Major point of this study is that the abnormal aNHCs are not always strongly bonded with metal center than the normal NHCs. Effects of dispersion interaction of substituent at nitrogen atoms of carbene ligand are found to play a crucial role on estimation of relative bonding strengths of the normal and abnormal aNHCs with metal center. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. 相似文献

Nanocrystalline Fe2O3 powder was synthesized by a simple chemical route involving FeCl3 and NaOH. The Fe2O3 powder thus prepared was characterized using x-ray diffraction study, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The adsorption properties of crystalline Fe2O3 powder have been investigated with an aim to explore a possible low cost and efficient way to remove Congo red (CR) from waste water. Fe2O3 powder was found as an excellent adsorbent for CR from aqueous medium. Adsorption capacity as much as 203.66 mg g?1 is reported at room temperature. Effect of different experimental parameters such as reaction pH, initial CR dye concentration, adsorbent dose, and reaction temperature were studied on adsorption capacity of Fe2O3 powder and modeled by artificial neural network (ANN). Optimal ANN structure (4–5–1) shows minimum mean squared error (MSE) of 0.00235 and determination coefficient (R2) of 0.991 with Levenberg–Marquardt algorithm. Isotherm analysis of experimental data exhibited better fit to the Langmuir isotherm. The adsorption process was found to follow second-order kinetics as depicted by the analysis of experimental results. Thermodynamic study shows that the adsorption process is endothermic, spontaneous, and thermodynamically favorable in the temperature range of 27°C to 60°C. 相似文献

HZSM‐5‐supported Brönsted and Lewis acidic ionic solid 1,3‐disulfoimidazolium chlorozincate materials ([dsim]2[ZnCl4]@HZSM‐5) were synthesized with various ratios (3, 6, 9, 17 and 50% w/w). The heterogeneous materials were characterized via a variety of spectroscopic techniques. Dual acidity of these materials was determined using specified techniques. These acidic solids were examined as stable heterogeneous catalysts for the Fischer indole reaction of equimolar amounts of phenylhydrazine hydrochloride and various aliphatic or aromatic ketones at 80–90°C in neat condition to produce substituted indole derivatives. The efficient 17% ionic salt‐loaded HZSM‐5 composite was easily reused for ten consecutive cycles with a slight loss of its activity. The recycled catalyst was further analysed using powder X‐ray diffraction and inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometric techniques. 相似文献

Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have garnered immense scientific interest among porous materials because of their structural tunability and diverse properties. However, the response of such materials toward laser‐induced nonlinear optical (NLO) applications is hardly understood and demands prompt attention. Three novel regioregular porphyrin (Por)‐based porous COFs—Por‐COF‐HH and its dual metalated congeners Por‐COF‐ZnCu and Por‐COF‐ZnNi—have been prepared and present excellent NLO properties. Notably, intensity‐dependent NLO switching behavior was observed for these Por‐COFs, which is highly desirable for optical switching and optical limiting devices. Moreover, the efficient π‐conjugation and charge‐transfer transition in ZnCu‐Por‐COF enabled a high nonlinear absorption coefficient (β=4470 cm/GW) and figure of merit (FOM=σ1/σo, 3565) value compared to other state‐of‐the‐art materials, including molecular porphyrins (β≈100–400 cm/GW), metal–organic frameworks (MOFs; β≈0.3–0.5 cm/GW), and graphene (β=900 cm/GW). 相似文献
