The reaction of [NEt(4)](2)[Fe(2)OCl(6)] with sodium benzoate, 4,6-dimethyl-2-hydroxypyrimidine (dmhp), and 1,1,1-tris(hydroxymethyl)ethane (H(3)thme) gives the undecametallic compound [NEt(4)][Fe(11)O(4)(O(2)CPh)(10)(thme)(4)(dmhp)(2)Cl(4)]. X-ray crystallography, EPR spectroscopy, bulk magnetic susceptibility studies, and low-temperature single-crystal magnetic measurements were used to characterize the compound. Magnetic measurements indicate an S = (11)/(2) ground state with the parameters g = 2.03 and D = -0.46 cm(-)(1). Single-crystal magnetic studies show hysteresis of molecular origin at T < 1.2 K with fast quantum mechanical tunneling at zero field.  相似文献

Combined density functional and ab initio calculations are performed on two isomorphous tetranuclear {Ni3IIILnIII} star‐type complexes [Ln=Gd ( 1 ), Dy ( 2 )] to shed light on the mechanism of magnetic exchange in 1 and the origin of the slow magnetization relaxation in complex 2 . DFT calculations correctly reproduce the sign and magnitude of the J values compared to the experiments for complex 1 . Acute ?Ni?O?Gd bond angles present in 1 instigate a significant interaction between the 4fxyz orbital of the GdIII ion and 3d orbital of the NiII ions, leading to rare and strong antiferromagnetic Ni???Gd interactions. Calculations reveal the presence of a strong next‐nearest‐neighbour Ni???Ni antiferromagnetic interaction in complex 1 leading to spin frustration behavior. CASSCF+RASSI‐SO calculations performed on complex 2 suggest that the octahedral environment around the DyIII ion is neither strong enough to stabilize the mJ |±15/2〉 as the ground state nor able to achieve a large ground‐state–first‐excited‐state gap. The ground‐state Kramers doublet for the DyIII ion is found to be the mJ |±13/2〉 state with a significant transverse anisotropy, leading to very strong quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM). Using the POLY_ANISO program, we have extracted the JNiDy interaction as ?1.45 cm?1. The strong Ni???Dy and next‐nearest‐neighbour Ni???Ni interactions are found to quench the QTM to a certain extent, resulting in zero‐field SMM behavior for complex 2 . The absence of any ac signals at zero field for the structurally similar [Dy(AlMe4)3] highlights the importance of both the Ni???Dy and the Ni???Ni interactions in the magnetization relaxation of complex 2 . To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that the roles of both the Ni???Dy and Ni???Ni interactions in magnetization relaxation of a {3d–4f} molecular magnet have been established.  相似文献

Polymerization of acrylamide (M) in the presence of ultrasound and peroxomonosulfate (PMS) was carried out for the first time for various concentration ranges of monomer and initiator and various temperatures at a constant frequency of 1 Mhz. The rate of polymerization Rp was found to increase with increase in the concentration of monomer and initiator and found to depend on [M] and [PMS]1/2. The rate of disappearance of initiator (-d[PMS]/dt) was also followed simultaneously under the experimental conditions and found to increase linearly with increase in [PMS]. A probable reaction mechanism was proposed on the basis of the observed results, and the individual rate constant were evaluated. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Silver nanoparticles were formed in situ along with poly(2,5‐dimethoxyaniline) (PDMA) in an interconnected network matrix (reactor), comprising the electronic conductive polymer, PDMA, and a polyelectrolyte, poly(styrene sulfonic acid) (PSS), through the simultaneous reduction of Ag+ ions and polymerization of 2,5‐dimethoxyaniline. In situ ultraviolet‐visible spectroscopy showed that peaks corresponding to the plasmon resonance of silver nanoparticles at 411 nm and the polaronic transition of PDMA at 438 nm provided evidences for the simultaneous formation of silver nanoparticles and PDMA. Transmission electron microscopy and size distribution analysis revealed the presence of spherical silver nanoparticles with an average diameter of 12 nm in the composite. X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed that the amine units in PDMA changed to imine units upon the formation of silver nanoparticles. A comprehensive mechanism for the formation of the PDMA‐PSS‐Ag nanocomposite is proposed. A 10‐fold increase in the conductivity was noticed for the PDMA–PSS–Ag nanocomposite (1 S/cm) in comparison with the PDMA–PSS composite (0.1 S/cm). © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A new multiferroic system comprising of BaTiO3 (BT) and BaFe12O19 (BF) have been synthesized and investigated. The presence of both phases i.e., Piezoelectric/Ferroelectric and Piezomagnetic/Ferrimagnetic phases was confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies. With the decrease of Ferrite content, the ferroelectric polarization values have increased and hysteresis loops were recorded. The ferrimagnetic nature was dominant in all the ferrite compositions with a high coercivity of 3.5 kOe. Magnetoelectric hysteresis loops were recorded from the room temperature magnetoelectric (ME) measurements and the output has shown non-linearity indicating striction induced phenomena in BT–BF system.  相似文献

Composite electrolytes are well-known multiphase systems and exhibit maxima in the conductivity at certain second-phase concentration. An attempt has been made to investigate a number of sodium sulfate (Na2SO4)-based composite systems. The dispersoids that have been used are MgO, Al2O3, and SiO2. The samples have been characterized using impedance spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and differential scanning calorimetry. The maximum conductivity has been observed for MgO dispersed system, and the percolation threshold has been observed at 30-mol% dispersoid, MgO concentration. Interestingly, two maxima have been observed in case of the Na2SO4–SiO2 and Na2SO4–Al2O3 composite systems. In the Na2SO4–SiO2 system, the first maximum occurs at lower concentration, i.e., in the range between 10 and 20 mol%, whereas the second occurs at the 40-mol% dispersoid concentration. For the Na2SO4–Al2O3 system, although slightly indistinguishable, two peaks in the conductivity vs composition plot have been observed around 12- and 30-mol% Al2O3 concentrations.  相似文献

The lithium salt (x) (x=LiAsF6, LiPF6) was complexed with a blend of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) / poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) and plasticized with a combination of ethylene carbonate(EC) and propylene carbonate(PC). The electrolyte films were prepared using doctor blade method and subjected to ionic conductivity measurements at nine different temperatures viz.,-30, -15, 0, 15, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 °C. The films were also subjected to TG - DTA and FT-IR analysis. The effect of salt on ionic conductivity is discussed. A 75:25 PMMA/PVC blend at 60 % plasticizer content has been found to possess optimal properties in terms of ionic conductivity, thermal and electrochemical stability.  相似文献

The kinetics of cyclopolymerization of N,N' -methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) was carried out using peroxydisulfate ion as initiator. The rate of polymerization, Rp, was found to be proportional to [M] and [S2O8 2-]1/2 for the uncatalyzed system. A cyclopolymerization mechanism was found to fit the experimental results. The k21/kt 1/2 value for MBA polymerization was evaluated. Evidence in favor of the cyclopolymerization mechanism is provided. The addition of Ag ion enhances Rp.  相似文献
