Mono and multilayer of water-soluble pyronin B (PyB) and pyronin Y (PyY) mixed with stearic acid (SA) have been incorporated in Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films. The surface pressure-area (π-A) isotherm studies pointed out that pure PyB and PyY are incapable of forming stable films at air-water interface and collapsed readily at low surface pressures. However, mixture of PyB or PyY with SA easily formed stable films at the air-water interface and they were easily transferred onto solid substrates. The average area per molecule of mixed films of PyB and PyY at the air-water interface was observed to decrease with increasing concentrations of PyB and PyY. The spectroscopic characteristics of PyB and PyY in chloroform, in SA containing chloroform and in LB films have also been investigated by using absorption and steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy techniques. The morphology of the LB film surfaces has been characterized by using atomic force microscopy (AFM).  相似文献

The heat shock proteins (HSPs) protect the other proteins in the process of folding under stressful conditions such as oxygen deprivation, hypothermy or presence of alcohol. They have also an important role in tumour invasion. In this paper, the existence, uniqueness and permanence properties for the solution of the mathematical model which focuses on the synthesis of HSP70 is proved. Moreover the numerical simulations are performed by using FDM, namely a combination of backward and forward Euler methods, and the results confirm the expected behaviour of the solution.  相似文献

The effective orifice area (EOA) is the most commonly used parameter to assess the severity of aortic valve stenosis as well as the performance of valve substitutes. Particle image velocimetry (PIV) may be used for in vitro estimation of valve EOA. In the present study, we propose a new and simple method based on Howe’s developments of Lighthill’s aero-acoustic theory. This method is based on an acoustical source term (AST) to estimate the EOA from the transvalvular flow velocity measurements obtained by PIV. The EOAs measured by the AST method downstream of three sharp-edged orifices were in excellent agreement with the EOAs predicted from the potential flow theory used as the reference method in this study. Moreover, the AST method was more accurate than other conventional PIV methods based on streamlines, inflexion point or vorticity to predict the theoretical EOAs. The superiority of the AST method is likely due to the nonlinear form of the AST. There was also an excellent agreement between the EOAs measured by the AST method downstream of the three sharp-edged orifices as well as downstream of a bioprosthetic valve with those obtained by the conventional clinical method based on Doppler-echocardiographic measurements of transvalvular velocity. The results of this study suggest that this new simple PIV method provides an accurate estimation of the aortic valve flow EOA. This new method may thus be used as a reference method to estimate the EOA in experimental investigation of the performance of valve substitutes and to validate Doppler-echocardiographic measurements under various physiologic and pathologic flow conditions.  相似文献

In this study, free‐standing polymer films were obtained first with an electrochemical coating of polyaniline and then with a coating of polypyrrole on an insulating polycarbonate‐coated Pt electrode. The films contained varying amounts of polyaniline and polypyrrole obtained by varying the electrolysis time, and their conductivities were determined. The Raman spectra of the films taken from the electrode side were similar to those of pure polyaniline, whereas the spectra of the solution side were identical to those of pure polypyrrole. Invasion is a key property of tumour cells for building metastasis. A class of functionally related proteins called heat shock proteins (HSPs), the expression of which is increased when cells are exposed to elevated temperatures or other stress, play an important role in the invasion. In this paper we develop a mathematical model focusing on the effect of HSPs on the tumour cell migration. The resulting multiscale setting accounts both for the microscopic, intracellular level on which these proteins are acting and for the macroscopic level of the cell population. We prove the local existence of a unique positive solution and perform numerical simulations in order to illustrate the behaviour of cancer cells w.r.t. the fibre density of the tissue and the matrix degrading enzymes, along with the effect of HSPs.  相似文献

The effect of aromatic hydrocarbon (benzene, C6H6) addition on lattice parameters, microstructure, critical temperature (Tc), critical current density (Jc) of bulk MgB2 has been studied. In this work only 2 mol% C6H6 addition was found to be very effective in increasing the Jc values, while resulting in slight reduction of the Tc. Jc values of 2 mol% C6H6 added MgB2 bulks reached to 1.83×106 A/cm2 at 15 K and 0 T. Microstructural analyses suggest that Jc enhancement is associated with the substitution of carbon with boron and which also results in the smaller MgB2 grain size. The change in the lattice parameters or the lattice disorder is claimed as a cause of the slight reduction in the Tc by carbon addition. We note that our results show the advantages of C6H6 addition include homogeneous mixing of precursor powders, avoidance of expansive nanoadditives, production of highly reactive C, and significant enhancement in Jc of MgB2, compared to un-doped samples.  相似文献

The stratification of two fluid phases, namely gas and liquid, within flow distribution devices, such as headers, that have side or bottom oriented fluid pipe connections, or discharges, has shown relevance to loss-of-coolant accidents in nuclear power plants. Under critical conditions the gas phase could entrain into the predominantly liquid discharge flow causing the fluid quality to be dramatically affected. This condition is referred to as the onset of gas entrainment (OGE) phenomenon and it occurs at a specific critical liquid height which changes with the Froude number. The liquid velocity field at the OGE is of importance, for example, to theorists who may find a semi-empirical approach to model this phenomenon. Stereoscopic particle image velocimetry (PIV) technique is an excellent candidate for non-intrusively investigating the velocity field. The liquid-phase velocity field was investigated for three discharge Froude numbers at the OGE. It was found that the stereoscopic PIV could be used to extract the velocity field experimentally, yet a high degree of error was found in the region closest to the discharge. The relative error was determined through conservation of mass by comparing the flow rate obtained with the PIV data to that obtained using a flow meter. In summary it was found that the number of image planes used, the resolution of the image planes, and consequently the number of vectors used to calculate the flow rate, all contributed a great deal to the relative error.  相似文献

In linear regression analysis, outliers often have large influence in the model/variable selection process. The aim of this study is to select the subsets of independent variables which explain dependent variables in the presence of multicollinearity, outliers and possible departures from the normality assumption of the error distribution in robust regression analysis. In this study to overcome this combined problem of multicollinearity and outliers, we suggest to use robust selection criterion with Liu and Liu-type M(LM) estimators.  相似文献
