Boundary value problems for some degenerate-elliptic operators

Variation of electronic transition moment with the internuclear separation for the (AO+−X1Σ+) band system of PbO

Relative integrated intensities of the (AO⁺?X¹Σ⁺) band system of PbO have been measured by photographic photometry. These have been interpreted with the aid of Franck-Condon factors (q_υ′υ″) and r-centroids ($\text{r}{}_{\mathrm{\upsilon \prime \upsilon ″}}$) to show that the variation of electronic transition moment with internuclear separation is R_e(r)=const.(0.521r?1). Arrays are shown for the band strengths S_υ′υ″.     

Relevance of ICRP metabolic model of Th in bio-assay monitoring

This paper compares the urinary excretion levels of Th obtained in bio-assay monitoring using the neutron activation technique with those predicted by applying the ICRP metabolic model to the measured Th activity in chest and total body of a group of Thorium plant workers. The results indicated much lower urinary Th excretion as compared to what was expected on the basis of the ICRP model. Lower urinary excretion in occupational subjects is explained in terms of negligible contribution of skeleton and soft tissue to the activity excreted in urine. It is suggested that the existing model should be modified to enable it to be applicable to the bio-assay monitoring of occupational workers.     

Spin-orbit splitting in theN-Δ spectra and the deformed baryon model

The absence of appreciable spin-orbit splitting in the low-lying even and odd parity states of the nucleon and delta is puzzling in conventional quark models. A constitutent quark model, in which the quarks interact through gluon as well as pion exchange, and the baryon is allowed to deform in the excited states, may provide a solution to the problem.
