A new set of high speed matrix addressing schemes for ferroelectric liquid crystal displays

A new set of matrix addressing schemes for ferroelectric liquid crystal displays is reported. The schemes use the minimum in the response time-voltage characteristic found in certain mixtures and deliver improved operating speed and contrast ratio compared with previously reported schemes operating in this mode.     

Measurement of Hartmann-Hahn cross-polarization dynamics with quenching of proton T1ρ relaxation dependence

A simple modification of the standard cross-polarization method designed for quenching the proton T_1ρ dependence when studying polarization transfer is presented. It is demonstrated that by using this simple procedure, new and subtle details of cross-polarization dynamics, previously hidden by the T_1ρ(¹H) effect, can be observed in dipolar-coupled spin systems.

There is a recursive set of natural numbers which is the difference set of some recursively enumerable set but which is not the difference set of any recursive set.     

On the nature of the γ-α transition in cerium

In 1964 Davis and Adams established that the large increase of the thermal expansion and compressibility in the critical region of the γ-to α-Ce phase transition occurs predominantly in the α phase. This provides strong evidence that a tricritical point is realized in Ce. This also means that the aforementioned transition is not isomorphic and that α-Ce should have a distorted fcc structure. A careful examination of Jayaraman’s data (1965) shows that a second-order transition line continues beyond the tricritical point to the vicinity of a triple point on the melting curve. The phase boundary with the tricritical point and the minimum of the melting curve are reconstructed within the framework of Landau theory. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. New computational method for atoms in an intense electromagnetic field

A new representation is found for the interaction of intense circularly polarized light with an atom. A stationary centrosymmetric part, which depends on the field parameter a ₀=F/ω², is separated out from the atom-field interaction. The time-dependent part of the interaction is represented in the form of a multipole expansion with a ₀ taken into account. The application of this representation for calculating the nonlinear dynamic polarizability of a complicated atom in the random-phase approximation with exchange is studied. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor.
