The mechanism of the dyeing of cotton and nylon cloth by the azo dyes Orange G and Sunset Yellow FCF was investigated using a channel flow cell. The variation in dyeing with flow rate was found to proceed via a mechanism in which the flux of dye entering the cloth relative to the flux of dye to the cloth surfacedecreasedwith increasing flow rate. A mechanism is deduced in which the dye passes from bulk solution, through a porous surface layer within the cloth, before passing into the bulk cloth. Adsorption onto surface sites in this porous layer blocks the passage of further dye into the cloth. Kinetic parameters for such a mechanism are given.  相似文献

The macrocyclic "cholaphanes" 3a-c were synthesized from the inexpensive steroid cholic acid. Like earlier relatives they feature substantial cavities with inward-directed hydroxyl groups, suitable for binding polar molecules such as carbohydrates in nonpolar media. New features are the externally directed alkyl chains, promoting solubility in organic solvents, and (in the case of 3b/c) reduced conformational freedom resulting from truncation of the steroidal side-chain. In particular, modeling shows that the smallest macrocycle 3c possesses very little flexibility, preferring an open conformation which is also revealed in the X-ray crystal structure of its pentahydrate. NMR studies indicated that all three cholaphanes form 1:1 complexes with octyl beta-D-glucoside in CDCl(3), with K(a) = 600-1560 M(-)(1). Cholaphanes 3b/c proved able to extract methyl beta-D-glucoside from aqueous solutions into CHCl(3). The transport of methyl beta-D-glucoside across a chloroform barrier was also demonstrated for 3c.  相似文献

The synthesis of marokite CaMn(2)O(4) nanowires using a hydrothermal method is reported. Transmission electron microscopy and electron diffraction measurements show that the nanowires are polycrystalline in nature with diameters between 10 and 20 nm and lengths ranging from approximately 100 to 500 nm. Most interestingly, in contrast with the bulk material, magnetization measurements show that these nanowires exhibit ferromagnetic ordering with a Curie temperature (T(C)) of approximately 40 K.  相似文献

Assessing the degree of proton transfer from a Br?nsted acid site to one or more adsorbed bases is central to arguments regarding the strength of zeolites and other solid acids. In this regard certain solid-state NMR measurements have been fruitful; for example, some (13)C, (15)N, or (31)P resonances of adsorbed bases are sensitive to protonation, and the (1)H chemical shift of the Br?nsted site itself reflects hydrogen bonding. We modeled theoretically the structures of adsorption complexes of several bases on zeolite HZSM-5, calculated the quadrupole coupling constants (Q(cc)) and asymmetry parameters (eta) for aluminum in these complexes and then in turn simulated the central transitions of their (27)Al MAS NMR spectra. The theoretical line width decreased monotonically with the degree of proton transfer, reflecting structural relaxation around aluminum as the proton was transferred to a base. We verified this experimentally for a series of adsorbed bases by way of single-pulse MAS and triple quantum MQMAS (27)Al NMR. The combined theoretical and experimental approach described here provides a strategy by which (27)Al data can be applied to resolve disputed interpretations of proton transfer based on other evidence.  相似文献

Genetic selection provides the most powerful method to assay large libraries of biomolecules for function. However, harnessing the power of genetic selection for the detection of specific, nonendogenous small-molecule targets in vivo remains a significant challenge. The ability to genetically select for small molecules would provide a reaction-independent mechanism to clone biosynthesis genes from large DNA libraries and greatly facilitate the exploration of large libraries of mutant enzymes for improved synthetic capabilities including altered substrate specificities and enhanced regio- or stereoselectivities. While remarkable progress has been made in developing genetic methods to detect small molecules in vivo, many of these methods rely on engineering small-molecule-protein interactions which remains a difficult problem, and the potential for some of these systems to assay large libraries is limited by the low transformation efficiency and long doubling time of yeast relative to bacteria. Herein, we demonstrate that synthetic riboswitches that activate protein translation in response to a specific small molecule can be used to perform sensitive genetic screens and selections for the presence of small molecules in Escherichia coli. We further demonstrate that the exquisite molecular discrimination properties of aptamers selected in vitro translate directly into an in vivo genetic selection system. Finally, we demonstrate that a cell harboring a synthetic riboswitch with a particular ligand specificity can be selectively amplified from a million-fold larger pool of cells containing mutant riboswitches that respond to a closely related ligand, suggesting that it is possible to use genetic selection in E. coli to discover synthetic riboswitches with new ligand specificities from libraries of mutant riboswitches.  相似文献

[reaction: see text] Calculations of the activation barrier for the 1,3-shifts of substituents X in alpha-imidoylketenes 1 (HN=C(X)-CH=C=O), which interconverts them with alpha-oxoketenimines 3 (HN=C=CH-C(X)=O) via a four-membered cyclic transition state TS2 have been performed at the B3LYP/6-311+G(3df,2p)//B3LYP/6-31G* level. Substituents with accessible lone pairs have the lowest activation barriers for the 1,3-shift (halogens, OR, NR2). The corresponding activation barriers for the alpha-oxoketene-alpha-oxoketene rearrangement of 4 via TS5 are generally lower by 1-30 kJ/mol. A polar medium (acetonitrile, epsilon = 36.64) was simulated using the polarizable continuum (PCM) solvation model. The effect of the solvent field is a reduction of the activation barrier by an average of 12 kJ/mol. In the cases of 1,3-shifts of amino and dimethylamino groups, the stabilization of the transition state TS2 in a solvent field is so large that it becomes an intermediate, Int2, flanked by transition states (TS2' and TS2') that are due primarily to internal rotation of the amine functions, and secondarily to the 1,3-bonding interaction. In the case of the alpha-oxoketene-alpha-oxoketene rearrangement of 4, there is a corresponding intermediate Int5 for the 1,3-amine shift already in the gas phase.  相似文献

One successful strategy utilized a novel TMSBr-mediated cyclization that proceeded with complete axial selectivity. Displacement of bromide with cesium acetate provided the C13 hydroxyl stereocenter of 22. Additionally, treatment of alpha-acetoxy ether 20 with TFA enabled a more concise synthesis of the C3-C19 target 13 by allowing direct access to the equatorial alcohol.  相似文献

TNA, or threose nucleic acid, is capable of Watson-Crick base pairing with DNA, RNA, and TNA; coupled with its chemical simplicity, this suggests that TNA is a possible progenitor of RNA. As an initial step toward developing the molecular tools necessary to investigate the functional capabilities of TNA by in vitro selection, we have screened a variety of DNA polymerases for activity on a TNA template. We report that despite having a repeating unit that is one atom shorter than that of DNA, several polymerases showed surprisingly good ability to copy limited stretches of TNA.  相似文献

The novel adduct 1,1,3,3-tetramethylguanidine-gallane, (Me2N)2CN(H).GaH3, has been prepared by the reaction of [(Me2N)2CNH2]+Cl- with LiGaH4 in Et2O solution. Its spectroscopic properties indicate a monomeric species with an unusually strong coordinate link between the imido function and GaH3, an inference confirmed by the crystal structure at 150 K which also reveals significant secondary interactions through non-classical N-H...H-Ga bridges. Despite the intrinsic strength of the Ga-N bond, however, vaporisation at ca. 310 K occurs with partial dissociation, and decomposition via more than one pathway proceeds at temperatures >330-350 K to give a variety of products, including the free base, Me2NH, H2, and a novel gallium-nitrogen compound composed of a Ga4N4 cubane-like core bridged on three edges by -N{C(NMe2)2}GaH2- units.  相似文献
