On the Distribution of Random Samples from Finite Populations of Random Variables

This article deals with probability distributions of sums of simple random sample and Bernoulli sample when samples are selected from finite population of independent random variables. Random variables are quasi-lattice. Probability distributions from class ? and Poisson distribution are used for approximation. Analogue of Cornish-Fisher transformation is obtained in case of limit distributions from class ?.     

Effect of silver ions on codischarge of copper and silver at a platinum electrode at the copper underpotentials

Codischarge of copper and silver ions at potentials more positive than the equilibrium potential of the Cu⁺²/Cu system is studied by the voltammetry technique. At the Ag⁺ concentrationc below 10^-7 M, silver ions make no noticeable impact on the formation of a Cu_ad monolayer but decelerate that of supermonolayers of Cu at almost equilibrium potentials. Atc ≥ 4 × 10^-5 M, voltammograms indicate the concurrent adsorption of Cu_ad and Ag_ad and the nucleation and deposition of phase Ag

Cyclization of Nitrospirobenzopyrans to Bridged Benzoxazepino[3,2-a]indoles

Condensation of 1-substituted 1,2,3,9a-tetrahydro-9H-imidazo[1,2-a]indol-2-ones with 5-nitrosalicylaldehyde afforded 1′-[(N-monosubstituted carbamoyl)methyl]indoline nitrospirobenzopyrans. Treatment of the latter with strong base led to the formation of a mixture of cis/trans-5a,13-methano-1,3-benzoxazepino[3,2-a]indoles. Results of semiempirical calculations gave evidence that such a transformation of nitrospirobenzopyrans to bicyclic indole derivatives could proceed via a single transition state, where the negatively charged carbon atom attacks the vinylic double bond of the spiropyran system.     

Effect of milled fluidised bed cracking catalyst waste on hydration of calcium aluminate cement and formation of binder structure

The effect of Bi addition on precipitation and dissolution, in Cu–9at% In and Cu–5at% Sb supersaturated solid solutions, has been studied by several complementary techniques. Differential Dilatometry and Differential Scanning Calorimetry permit only the analysis of the δ phase dissolution kinetic in sufficiently aged samples. Delayed spheroidization due to Bi segregation around the precipitated lamellae, observed by Transmission Electron Microscopies in the first alloy, gives a residual interfacial energy leading to accelerated δ phase dissolution with decreased activation energy. Kinetics parameters evolution indicates a progressive δ phase continuous dissolution which makes available a small chemical driving force at high temperatures and leads to an increasing activation energy during dissolution. However, Bi dispersed particles in the second alloy haven’t effect on the dissolution but they cause a contraction above 833 K. Kinetics parameters evolution indicates rapid δ phase dissolution that shifted to high temperatures where an important chemical driving force for solution treatment is available. It leads to almost constant activation energy.

     

Ascorbate oxidase

Ascorbate oxidase fromCucurbita sp. was isolated by ammonium sulfate precipitation and DEAE-dextran-silochrome column chromatography. The thermal and pH stabilities of the purified enzyme were investigated. TheK _M forl-ascorbic acid (1.5 mM) and chlorohydroquinone (0.37 mM) was determined. Substrate specificity of ascorbate oxidase was investigated and compared with those of laccases fromCoriolus hirsutus andCerrena maxima. Ascorbate oxidase was covalently bound to a polymeric membrane and used in an enzyme electrode for ascorbic acid.     

Modular access to heterocycles: methyl 3-aminobenzo[<Emphasis Type="Italic">b</Emphasis>]thiophene-2-carboxylate–thiourea linkage or pyrimidine-4-one-2-thione formation

Abstract  Modular conditions for the formation of thioureas or pyrimidine-4-one-2-thiones connected to the benzo[b]thiophene, benzene and indole structures were performed. A benzo[b]thiophene isothiocyanate derivative was used as a model to study the condensation with simple aromatic amines and amino-l-sorbose derivative. The construction of pyrimidine-4-one-2-thiones using basic conditions afforded efficiently new heterocyclic aromatics, which were further transformed using the alkylated sulfur as a leaving group in palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions. On asymptotics of deficit distribution and its moments at the time of ruin

In this paper, we consider the Sparre Andersen insurance risk model with initial surplus x > 0. Let A_x denote the deficit at the time of ruin. Assuming that the tail probabilities of claim size are regularly varying, the second-order asymptotic of the deficit distribution and its moments at the time of ruin are derived.
