Global well-posedness theory for the spatially inhomogeneous Boltzmann equation without angular cutoff

We present the first global well-posedness result for the Boltzmann equation without angular cutoff in the framework of weighted Sobolev spaces, in a close to equilibrium framework, and for Maxwellian molecules. These solutions become smooth for any positive time. An important ingredient of the proof rests on the introduction of a new norm, encoding both the singularity and the dissipation properties of the linearized collision operator.

Organotin phosphate condensates proved to catalyze the ring opening reaction of epoxides with alcohols in a highly regioselective manner.

The Michael reaction of chitosan with acrylic acid was carried out successfully, even in water alone as the reaction medium. As a consequence of its good solubility in water, the reaction product, N‐carboxyethylchitosan, showed excellent biodegradable properties with standard activated sludge.

     

Synthesis of 1-triazolyl-4-trimethylsilyl-2-butanol and 1-triazolyl-5-trimethylsilyl-2-pentanol derivatives and an investigation of their fungicidal activities

A new series of azole derivatives of 1-triazolyl-4-trimethylsilyl-2-butanol and 1-triazolyl-5-trimethylsilyl-2-pentanol were synthesized and evaluated for fungicidal activities against rice blast, sheath blight, and powdery mildew on barley. The derivatives of 2,4-difluorobenzene exhibited high antifungal activities when applied by spray, but exhibited no fungicidal activity by submerged application.

A novel synthetic method for α-methylene-γ-butyrolactones involving a thioallylic rearrangement as a key step was developed.

Owing to the unprecedented stability of O-acylTEMPOs towards hydride-transferring and metallic alkylating reagents such as LiAlH4 and RMgX, chemoselective transformation of diacid mixed alkyl/TEMP-1-yl esters, where O-acylTEMPOs remained intact, is achieved with these reagents, giving the corresponding carbinols, respectively.     

New synthetic reaction by electrolysis malonic acid as a ketone synthon

Malonic acid derivatives(gem-dicarboxylic acids) were converted to the corresponding ketones by the electrolysis. The reaction was employed for the synthesis of jasmones.
