Soot formation characteristics of a lab-scale pulverized coal flame were investigated by performing carefully controlled laser diagnostics. The spatial distributions of soot volume fraction and the pulverized coal particles were measured simultaneously by laser induced incandescence (LII) and Mie scattering imaging, respectively. In addition, the radial distributions of the soot volume fraction were compared with the OH radical fluorescence, gas temperature and oxygen concentration obtained in our previous studies [1], [2]. The results indicated that the laser pulse fluence used for LII measurement should be carefully controlled to measure the soot volume fraction in pulverized coal flames. To precisely measure the soot volume fraction in pulverized coal flames using LII, it is necessary to adjust the laser pulse fluence so that it is sufficiently high to heat up all the soot particles to the sublimation temperature but also sufficiently low to avoid including a too large of a change in the morphology of the soot particles and the superposition of the LII signal from the pulverized coal particles on that from the soot particles. It was also found that the radial position of the peak LII signal intensity was located between the positions of the peak Mie scattering signal intensity and peak OH radical signal intensity. The region, in which LII signal, OH radical fluorescence and Mie scattering coexisted, expanded with increasing height above the burner port. It was also found that the soot formation in pulverized coal flames was enhanced at locations where the conditions of high temperature, low oxygen concentration and the existence of pulverized coal particles were satisfied simultaneously. 相似文献

The project in producing the hyperpolarized 3He and 19F are addressed in pursuit of radiation free medical diagnosis. Typical polyacenequinododimethides exist only in a single classical structure. These hydrocarbons are moderately aromatic and diatropic, although they have no aromatic conjugated circuits. This apparent dichotomy was resolved with our graph theory of aromaticity and magnetotropicity. Many nonconjugated circuits were found to contribute collectively to aromaticity and diatropicity. For individual molecules, local aromaticity increases with distance from the exo‐methylene groups. Most dicyclopenta-fused polyacenes are predicted to be moderately aromatic and diatropic, although they have no (4n + 2)-site conjugated circuits. We applied our graph theory of aromaticity and magnetotropicity to these molecules and found that these anomalous properties arise from a set of non-conjugated circuits, which contribute collectively to aromaticity and diatropicity. This result indicates that the conjugated circuit model is not always applicable to such non-alternant hydrocarbons. A method for exact determination of phagocytic activity of alveolar macrophage (M) cells toward synthetic microspheres (MS) by optical microscopy was developed. We examined the effectiveness of the treatment of M samples with trypsin, acid or xylene to remove the polystyrene latex microspheres (PSL MS) attached to M cell membranes during their phagocytosis by M cells. We found that centrifugation, which was employed to collect M samples after incubation with MS, affected significantly the efficiency of the various treatments. Of the three treatments, xylene treatment without centrifugation was the most effective to determine the phagocytic activity of M cells, as xylene dissolved the PSL MS on the cell surface almost completely. This treatment was also effective in the case of poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) MS (PLGA MS), which have been commonly used as an efficient vehicle for drug delivery system. 相似文献

Process design and energy requirement for a practical plant are investigated for an energy-saving drying (dewatering) process invented by the authors in 2002 for high-moisture porous materials. The basic concept of the process involves the extraction of water from a high-moisture porous material by bringing it in physical contact with liquefied dimethyl ether (DME) at room temperature. Water content of DME asymptotically increases to the saturation value and the high-moisture porous material is dried almost perfectly. DME from the DME-water mixture is vaporized by decompression. DME and water are separated by flash distillation. DME vapor is compressed and cooled in a heat exchanger, and the latent heat of condensation is reused to vaporize the DME in the heat exchanger. Multistage compression and multistage flash distillation are employed. After compression, the temperature of DME is less than 50?°C. Because specific heat ratio of DME is only 1.11, the energy consumption of the compressor is reduced. Considering the adiabatic efficiency of the compressor and the net thermal efficiency, the total energy for dewatering is about 1100 kJ per 1-kg-water-content of the material being dewatered This process has significant potential and is compact than the existing dewatering processes. 相似文献

The isolated polystyrene chains spin-labeled with peroxide radical at the free end (IPSOO) in which the chain roots were covalently bonded to the surface of microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) powder were produced by mechanochemical polymerization of styrene initiated by MCC mechanoradicals. The IPSOO was used as motional probes at the ends of isolated polystyrene chains tethered on the surface of MCC powder. Two modes for the molecular motion of IPSOO were observed. One was a tumbling motion of IPSOO on the MCC surface, defined as a train state, and another was a free rotational motion of IPSOO protruding out from the MCC surface, defined as a tail state. The temperature of tumbling motion (T tum ) of IPSOO at the train state was at 90 K with anisotropic correlation times. T tum (90 K) is extremely low compared to the glass transition temperature (T g b ; 373 K) of polystyrene in the bulk. At temperatures above 219 K, the IPSOO was protruded out from the MCC surface, and freely rotated at the tail state. The train–tail transition temperature (T train–tail ) was estimated to be 222 K. T tum (90 K) and T train–tail (222 K) are due to the extremely low chain segmental density of IPSOO on the MCC surface under vacuum. The interaction between IPSOO and the MCC surface is a minor contributing factor in the mobility of IPSOO on the surface under vacuum. It was found that peroxy radicals are useful probes to characterize the chain mobility reflecting their environmental conditions. 相似文献

We demonstrated previously that 3-position-modified 6-formylpterin (6FP) derivatives produce reactive oxygen species (ROS) such as hydrogen peroxide (H(2)O(2)) from oxygen in the presence of NADH in the dark. It has been shown that 6FP derivatives markedly generate ROS, which gives rise to their particular physiological activities, such as induction of apoptosis in cellular and living systems, suggesting that such compounds provide a hint for the design of a ROS controlling agent in vivo. However, it is not well understood why such unique activities appear on chemical modification. In the present study, in order to see the effect on ROS generation activity in the dark by the modification of the 1-position in 6FP, we have developed a new synthetic procedure for nucleoside analogs of 6FP and prepared 1-(beta-d-ribofuranosyl)-2-(N,N-diethylaminomethyleneamino)-6-formylpteridin-4-one (RDEF) and 1-(beta-d-ribofuranosyl)-2-(piperidine-1-ylmethyleneamino)-6-formylpteridin-4-one (RPIF) in which the 1-position of 6FP is glycosylated. At pH 7.4, NADH was spontaneously oxidized to NAD(+) in the presence of RDEF in the dark. Using electron paramagnetic resonance analysis coupled with the spin trapping technique, we show that O(2) was converted to H(2)O(2)via superoxide anion radical ( O(2)(-)) during this reaction. The modification of the 1-position of 6FP did not cancel ROS generation activities, which were demonstrated in 3-position-modified 6FPs. Since the 6FP derivatives developed in the present study have a ribose moiety, these compounds can be subjected to further derivatization, such as incorporation into oligonucleotides, oligosaccharides, proteins, or any other compounds that recognize and interact with specific biomolecules, and therefore would be useful in pharmaceutical investigations that need generation of appropriate and controllable amounts of ROS in vivo. 相似文献
