Eisen(III)-rhodanidpapier als analytisches Reagens bei Luftuntersuchungen

Zusammenfassung Mit Hilfe von Reagenspapierstreifen, die mit Eisen(III)-rhodanid imprÄgniert sind, lassen sich alle in der Luft gelegentlich vorkommenden, alkalisch reagierenden Gase oder DÄmpfe (Ammoniak, Amine, Äthylenoxyd) nachweisen. Das dunkelrotbraune Reagenspapier wird hierbei entfÄrbt. Das Ausma\ der EntfÄrbung folgt stöchiometrischen Gesetzen. Der Grad der EntfÄrbung lÄ\t sich daher quantitativ auswerten. Eine untere und obere Nachweisgrenze gibt es bei diesem Verfahren theoretisch überhaupt nicht. Bei der vorgeschlagenen Ausführungsmethode, die eine Absaugung von Luftmengen bis zu 1 Liter vorsieht, liegt die untere Nachweisgrenze — in AnhÄngigkeit von dem Molekulargewicht des gefundenen Stoffes — z. B. bei 0,07 g NH₃ je Liter Luft (=0,07 mg/m₃) oder bei 0,25 g Trimethylamin/1 Liter (=0,25 mg/m³). Die praktische Begrenzung nach oben liegt dort, wo sich andere bekannte Bestimmungsmethoden mit höherem Genauigkeitsgrad anbieten.Die Herstellung eines in reiner Luft auch bei Licht und Zimmertemperatur lÄngere Zeit haltbaren Reagenspapiers wird beschrieben. Die praktische Anwendbarkeit des ER-Papiers liegt vor allem bei Luftuntersuchungen im Zusammenhang mit den Exhalationen und Emanationen von Fischmehlfabriken.     

Instability of nonlinear bound states

A Simple proof of the generalized electrostatic Israel theorem

A simple proof of a generalization of the theorem of Israel concerning the uniqueness of the Reissner-Nordström black holes is presented. The present method is also applied to show, in the bosonic sector ofN=4-supergravity, the uniqueness of a static black hole solution found by Gibbons.Work supported by Fonds zur Förderung der wissenschaftlichen Forschung in Österreich, Project No. 4961.     

Gravitational field strength and generalized Komar integral

We define a gravitational field strength in theories of the Einstein-Cartan type admitting a Killing vector. This field strength is a second rank, antisymmetric, divergence-free tensor, whose (Komar) integral over a closed 2-surface gives a physically meaningful quantity. We find conditions on the Lagrange density of the theory which ensure the existence of such a tensor, and show that they are satisfied forN=2-supergravity and for a special case of the bosonic sector ofN=4-supergravity. We discuss a possible application of the generalized Komar integral in the theory of stationary black holes. We also consider the field strength problem in Kaluza-Klein theory, where the application to black holes is particularly interesting.     

Synthesis of four diastereomeric 3,5-dialkoxy-2,4-dimethylalkanals by a simple extension of the non-aldol aldol process to bis(propionates)

[formula: see text] The synthesis of all four diastereomers of bis(propionates), 3,5-dialkoxy-2,4-dimethylalkanals, by non-aldol aldol chemistry is described. The epoxy alcohols (3, 4) were converted into the mesylates (9, 11) which were cleanly rearranged to the desired 3,5-bis(oxygenated)-2,4-dimethylalkanals (10, 12) in high yield. The epoxy mesylates (13, 16) gave the desired products (14, 17) in good yield on treatment with TMSOTf and a hindered base.

From an investigation of the ICD of bilatrienes-abc and 2,3-dihydrobilatrienes-abc induced by mixtures of CCl₄ with (+)-cis-Pinane, (–)-lactic and (+)-tartaric acid esters it is concluded that specific interactions between chromophore and the chiral reagents afford a partial resolution of the labile racemate of helices. Attaching chiral residues covalently to the chromophore induces very low resolution of the same kind in case of apolar ligands like a cholesteryl-residue. However, with polar ligands as in the case ofBoc-lysyl derivatives enantiomeric excesses up to 90% are achieved depending on the solvent used.
