One-dimensional and two-dimensional periodic TiO2 relief structures were incorporated in dye-sensitized solar cells. The periodic TiO2 structures were fabricated using surface relief gratings photoinscribed on azobenzene functionalized polymer films as templates and TiO2 sol-gel solution. Enhancement of power conversion of the solar cells made with the relief TiO2 structures was achieved. This enhancement suggests that the relief TiO2 structures can offer efficient light-trapping with the increased effective optical-path length in the solar cells. 相似文献
With the increasing use of culture-expanded mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) for cell therapies, factors that regulate the cellular characteristics of MSCs have been of major interest. Oxygen concentration has been shown to influence the functions of MSCs, as well as other normal and malignant stem cells. However, the underlying mechanisms of hypoxic responses and the precise role of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (Hif-1α), the master regulatory protein of hypoxia, in MSCs remain unclear, due to the limited span of Hif-1α stabilization and the complex network of hypoxic responses. In this study, to further define the significance of Hif-1α in MSC function during their self-renewal and terminal differentiation, we established adult bone marrow (BM)-derived MSCs that are able to sustain high level expression of ubiquitin-resistant Hif-1α during such long-term biological processes. Using this model, we show that the stabilization of Hif-1α proteins exerts a selective influence on colony-forming mesenchymal progenitors promoting their self-renewal and proliferation, without affecting the proliferation of the MSC mass population. Moreover, Hif-1α stabilization in MSCs led to the induction of pluripotent genes (oct-4 and klf-4) and the inhibition of their terminal differentiation into osteogenic and adipogenic lineages. These results provide insights into the previously unrecognized roles of Hif-1α proteins in maintaining the primitive state of primary MSCs and on the cellular heterogeneities in hypoxic responses among MSC populations. 相似文献
We describe a robust method for both encapsulating and stabilizing photo‐sensitive antioxidants in polymer microcapsules prepared by a water‐in‐oil‐in‐water double emulsification and evaporation technique, in which a volatile solvent from the oil layer consisting of poly(methyl methacrylate) and methylene chloride is gradually removed. Using poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) in this study, we demonstrate that control over its molecular weight allows to tune the phase property of the capsule wall; introducing PEG with high molecular weight results in increased heterogeneity. The heterogeneity of the capsule walls displays an ability to effectively block sunlight, which is essential for improving the molecular stability of photo‐sensitive antioxidants. In this study, we experimentally confirm this by observing natural sunlight‐driven molecular decomposition of a model antioxidant, riboflavin‐5′‐phosphate, in poly (methyl methacrylate) microcapsules.
Obstacle detection is a crucial issue for driver assistance systems as well as for autonomous vehicle guidance function and it has to be performed with high reliability to avoid any potential collision with the front vehicle. The vision-based obstacle detection systems are regarded promising for this purpose because they require little infrastructure on a highway. However, the feasibility of these systems in passenger car requires accurate and robust sensing performance. In this paper, an obstacle detection system using stereo vision sensors is developed. This system utilizes feature matching, epipoplar constraint and feature aggregation in order to robustly detect the initial corresponding pairs. After the initial detection, the system executes the tracking algorithm for the obstacles. The proposed system can detect a front obstacle, a leading vehicle and a vehicle cutting into the lane. Then, the position parameters of the obstacles and leading vehicles can be obtained. In the polymerization of ethene cocatalyzed with modified methylaluminoxane, the catalyst activities of the siloxane-bridged dinuclear zirconocenes, tetramethyldisiloxanediylbis(cyclopentadienylindenylzirconium dichloride) ( 3 ) and hexamethyltrisiloxanediylbis(cyclopentadienylindenylzirconium dichloride) ( 4 ) were lower than that obtained with the siloxane-bridged mononuclear zirconocene, tetramethyldisiloxanediyldicyclopentadienyldimethylzirconium ( 1 ). On the other hand, weight-average molecular weight M̄w and ratio of weight- to number-average molecular weights M̄w/M̄n of polyethene (PE) obtained with 3 or 4 were higher than those of PE obtained with 1. For a binary mixture of 1/3 or 1/4 , it was found that the obtained PE exhibits a bimodal molecular weight distribution for an appropriate composition of the mixed zirconocenes. M̄w/M̄n of PE could be adjusted by changing the relative concentrations of the two zirconocenes. 相似文献
