Multi‐walled carbon nanotubes (MWNT) purified by acidic solution were processed with PMMA via an in‐situ polymerization. Experimental evidences indicate the role of radical initiator (AIBN) and MWNT, showing increases of polymerization rate and MWNT diameter. Induced radicals on the MWNT by AIBN were found to trigger the grafting of PMMA. Moreover, the solvent cast film showed a better nanoscopic dispersion of MWNT and possibilities of CNT composites in engineering applications.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common cause of chronic liver disease and is strongly associated with obesity-related ectopic fat accumulation in the liver. Hepatic lipid accumulation encompasses a histological spectrum ranging from simple steatosis to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which can progress to cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Given that dysregulated hepatic lipid metabolism may be an onset factor in NAFLD, understanding how hepatic lipid metabolism is modulated in healthy subjects and which steps are dysregulated in NAFLD subjects is crucial to identify effective therapeutic targets. Additionally, hepatic inflammation is involved in chronic hepatocyte damage during NAFLD progression. As a key immune signaling hub that mediates NF-κB activation, the IκB kinase (IKK) complex, including IKKα, IKKβ, and IKKγ (NEMO), has been studied as a crucial regulator of the hepatic inflammatory response and hepatocyte survival. Notably, TANK-binding kinase 1 (TBK1), an IKK-related kinase, has recently been revealed as a potential link between hepatic inflammation and energy metabolism. Here, we review (1) the biochemical steps of hepatic lipid metabolism; (2) dysregulated lipid metabolism in obesity and NAFLD; and (3) the roles of IKKs and TBK1 in obesity and NAFLD.Subject terms: Obesity, Chronic inflammation  相似文献

Monodisperse block copolymer systems in the homogeneous melt exhibit small angle X-ray scattering peaks at finite nonzero angle due to characteristic correlation hole concentration fluctuations. Here we will address these fluctuations for comblike copolymer systems obtained by strong association between polymers and end-functionalized oligomers. Experimentally, the dominant fluctuations have been found by us to vary between conventional long wave length fluctuations (for weak hydrogen bonding) as for simple mixtures, and finite wave length fluctuations (strong hydrogen bonding), characteristic for block copolymer systems. Monte Carlo computer simulations show that both regimes will occur in one and the same system depending on the temperature. The transition between both regimes is directly related to the fraction of free oligomers, which depends on the temperature and the interactions. The structure factors are analysed in terms of the Random Phase Approximation applied to a mixture of free oligomers and comb copolymers, using a uniform distribution of teeth along the polymer chains and a binomial distribution in the number of polymers with a given number of teeth, confirmed numerically, as input. The agreement is excellent both at high and low temperatures.  相似文献

The built-in piezoelectric field induced by compressive stress in InGaN/GaN multi-quantum well (MQW) light-emitting diodes (LEDs) was investigated using the electric field dependent electroreflectance (ER) spectroscopic method. InGaN/GaN MQW structures were prepared on sapphire substrates of different thicknesses. Thinning the sapphire substrate enables control of the compressive stress by changing the curvature of the wafer bowing. The wafer bowing-induced mechanical stress alters the piezoelectric field in the InGaN/GaN MQW. The flat band voltage, estimated by measuring the applied reverse bias voltage that induces a 180° phase shift in the ER spectra, was decreased from −11.21 V to −10.51 V by thinning the sapphire substrate thickness from 200 to 60 μm. To calculate the piezoelectric field (Fpz) from the compensation voltage, the depletion width was obtained from the capacitance–voltage measurement. The Fpz estimated from the energy shift in ER peak in a bias range from 0 to −12 V was changed by 110 kV/cm.  相似文献

Herein, nanometer‐scale morphologies of graft‐copolymer‐like supramolecular thin films, composed of sulfonic acid terminated polystyrene (SPS) and poly(2‐vinylpyridine) (P2VP), and their application to antireflection coatings were investigated. The intermolecular complexes of SPS and P2VP, formed through nonstoichiometric multiple hydrogen bonding between the sulfonic acid group of SPS and the nitrogen atom in pyridine unit of P2VP, occurring in film deposition allowed for the formation of spherical micelles (with SPS and P2VP as the corona and core, respectively) in the thin film. Interestingly, the domain size of the micelles was tunable from approximately 20 to 90 nm on average by controlling either the blend ratio of components or the concentration of polymer solution. Furthermore, nanoporous thin films could be easily prepared by removing the core of micelle‐based nanostructures by using a simple solvent etching process, leaving sulfonic acid groups on the surface of nanopores, which can be utilized as potential functional sites. Those resultant nanoporous thin films were conveniently employed as an antireflection layer on a glass substrate, giving a maximum 97.8 % transmittance in the visible wavelength range.  相似文献

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoarthritis (OA), two common types of arthritis, affect the joints mainly by targeting the synovium and cartilage. Increasing evidence indicates that a significant network connects synovitis and cartilage destruction during the progression of arthritis. We recently demonstrated that hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-2α causes RA and OA by regulating the expression of catabolic factors in fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) or chondrocytes. To address the reciprocal influences of HIF-2α on FLS and chondrocytes, we applied an in vitro co-culture system using a transwell apparatus. When co-cultured with HIF-2α-overexpressing chondrocytes, FLS exhibited increased expression of matrix metalloproteinases and inflammatory mediators, similar to the effects induced by tumor-necrosis factor (TNF)-α treatment of FLS. Moreover, chondrocytes co-cultured with HIF-2α-overexpressing FLS exhibited upregulation of Mmp3 and Mmp13, which is similar to the effects induced by interleukin (IL)-6 treatment of chondrocytes. We confirmed these differential HIF-2α-induced effects via distinct secretory mediators using Il6-knockout cells and a TNF-α-blocking antibody. The FLS-co-culture-induced gene expression changes in chondrocytes were significantly abrogated by IL-6 deficiency, whereas TNF-α neutralization blocked the alterations in gene expression associated with co-culture of FLS with chondrocytes. Our results further suggested that the observed changes might reflect the HIF-2α-induced upregulation of specific receptors for TNF-α (in FLS) and IL-6 (in chondrocytes). This study broadens our understanding of the possible regulatory mechanisms underlying the crosstalk between the synovium and cartilage in the presence of HIF-2α, and may suggest potential new anti-arthritis therapies.  相似文献

This study was conducted to investigate the effects on the shifting performance of the design parameters of a power shuttle tractor using a computer simulation technique. The EASY 5 models of the hydraulic control system and power shuttle transmission were developed, and combined with a tractor model to complete a simulation model for a power shuttle tractor. The models for the hydraulic control system and power shuttle transmission were verified using an experimental power train constructed for the validation purpose.The design parameters included the terminal pressure and time for the modulation of the hydraulic control system, and forward speed, weight, shuttle gear ratio and torsional damping of the tractor. The shift performance was evaluated in term of the peak torques of the input shaft of the transmission and tractor axles, and power transmitted per unit area of the clutch and the time required for the power transmission.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with comparison of the tensile properties of Al1100 thin film in a micro-scale to that of Al1100 sheet in a macro-scale. The material properties of Al1100 film and sheet with a thickness of 96 μm and 1 mm respectively have been investigated at strain rates ranging from 0.001 to 100 s?1. The experiments were conducted with Static Micro-Material Testing Machine (SMMTM) and High Speed Micro-Material Testing Machine (HSMMTM) for micro-specimens and with Instron 5583 and high speed material testing machine (HSMTM) for macro-specimens. A reliable jig system for SMMTM and HSMMTM has been newly developed for easy installation of a specimen and accurate alignment between a specimen and the jig system to enhance the reproducibility of tests. The digital image correlation (DIC) method is employed to measure the axial strain of the specimens. In order to obtain a fine speckle pattern for the DIC method, a novel technique is employed to print the speckle pattern with fine particles by blowing sprayed particles before printing. The grain sizes of two Al1100 specimens have been compared and the number of grains in the gauge cross-section has been calculated to obtain the grain number which is related to the specimen size effect. Electron Back Scattered Diffraction (EBSD) images were obtained for both micro-specimens and macro-specimens and analyzed to measure the grain size. The Al1100 film with a smaller average grain size shows larger strain hardening than the Al1100 sheet with a larger average grain size.  相似文献

In this note, a hereditary radical property, called homomorphically reduced rings, is introduced, observed, and applied. The dual concept of this property is also studied with the help of Courter, proving that any ring R (possibly without identity) has an ideal S such that S/K is not homomorphically reduced for each proper ideal K of S; and if L is an ideal of R with L ? S, then L/H is homomorphically reduced for some ideal H of R with H ? L. The concept of the homomorphical reducedness is shown to be equivalent to the left (right) weak regularity and the (strong) regularity for one-sided duo rings. It is proved that homomorphically reduced rings have several useful properties similar to those of (weakly) regular rings. It is proved that the homomorphical reducedness can go up to classical quotient rings. It is shown that if R is a reduced right Ore ring with the ascending chain condition (ACC) for annihilator ideals, then the maximal right quotient ring of R is strongly regular (hence homomorphically reduced).  相似文献
