A study of the photopolymerization of vinyl monomers in the presence of tetramethyltetrazene (TMT) was made. TMT was found to act as an effective sensitizer. In the photopolymerization of vinyl monomers such as methyl methacrylate or styrene the rate of polymerization was expressed by the equation: Rp = k[TMT]1/2[monomer]. The chain-transfer constant of TMT under ultraviolet irradiation was estimated to be 3.8 × 10?2 for the above monomers. A linear correlation was found to exist between the reactivity of dimethylamino radical toward the vinyl monomers and e values for the corresponding monomers. 相似文献

Pyrrole-imidazole polyamide (PIP) is a nuclease-resistant novel compound that inhibits gene expression through binding to the minor groove of DNA. Human aurora kinase-A (AURKA) and -B (AURKB) are important regulators in mitosis during the cell cycle. In this study, two specific PIPs (PIP-A and PIP-B) targeting AURKA and AURKB promoter regions were designed and synthesized, and their biological effects were investigated by several in vitro assays. PIP-A and PIP-B significantly inhibited the promoter activities, mRNA expression, and protein levels of AURKA and AURKB, respectively, in a concentration-dependent manner. Moreover, 1:1 combination treatment with both PIPs demonstrated prominent antiproliferative synergy (CI value [ED(50)] = 0.256) to HeLa cells as a result of inducing apoptosis-mediated severe catastrophe of cell-cycle progression. The novel synthesized PIP-A and PIP-B are potent and specific gene-silencing agents for AURKA and AURKB. 相似文献

A simple graph-theoretical method is proposed for readily estimating the degree of extra stabilization due to macrocyclic conjugation (superaromaticity). This method is based theoretically on the concept of circuit resonance energy previously defined for cyclic pi systems. Pyrrole-imidazole (Py-Im) polyamides containing stereospecifically alpha-amino- or alpha-hydroxyl-substituted gamma-aminobutyric acid as a 5'-TG-3' recognition element were synthesized by machine-assisted Fmoc solid-phase synthesis. Their binding properties to predetermined DNA sequences containing a core binding site of 5'-TGCNCA-3'/3'-ACGN'GT-5' (N.N' = A.T, T.A, G.C, and C.G) were then systematically studied by surface plasmon resonance (SPR). SPR results revealed that the pairing of stereospecifically alpha-amino-/alpha-hydroxyl-substituted gamma-aminobutyric acids, (R or S)-alpha,gamma-diaminobutyric acid (gammaRN or gammaSN) and (R or S)-alpha-hydroxyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid (gammaRO or gammaSO), side-by-side with beta-alanine (beta) in such polyamides significantly influenced the DNA binding affinity and recognition specificity of hairpin polyamides in the DNA minor groove compared with beta/beta, beta/gamma, and gamma/beta pairings. More importantly, the polyamide Ac-Im-gammaSO-ImPy-gamma-ImPybetaPy-beta-Dp (beta/gammaSO) favorably binds to a hairpin DNA containing a core binding site of 5'-TGCNCA-3'/3'-ACGN'GT-5' (N.N' = A.T) with dissociation equilibrium constant (K(D)) of 1.9 x 10(-)(7) M over N.N' = T.A with K(D) = 3.7 x 10(-)(6) M, with a 19-fold specificity. By contrast, Ac-Im-gammaSN-ImPy-gamma-ImPybetaPy-beta-Dp (beta/gammaSN) binds to the above sequence with N.N' = A.T with K(D) = 8.7 x 10(-)(7) M over N.N' = T.A with K(D) = 8.4 x 10(-)(6) M, with a 9.6-fold specificity. The results also show that the stereochemistry of the alpha-substituent, as well as the alpha-substituent itself may greatly alter binding affinity and recognition selectivity of hairpin polyamides to different DNA sequences. Further, we carried out molecular modeling studies on the binding by an energy minimization method, suggesting that alpha-hydroxyl is very close to N3 of the 3'-terminal G to induce the formation of hydrogen bonding between hydroxyl and N3 in the recognition event of the polyamide Ac-Im-gammaSO-ImPy-gamma-ImPybetaPy-beta-Dp (beta/gammaSO) to 5'-TGCNCA-3'/3'-ACGN'GT-5' (N.N' = A.T). Photoinduced alignment in a polymer liquid crystal prepared from 6-{1-[4-(2-cyano-4-nitrophenylazo)phenyl]piperazino}hexyl acrylate and 4'-[6-(methacryloyloxy)hexyloxy]-4-cyanobiphenyl was investigated for the first time on irradiation with a polarized He-Ne laser beam at 633 nm. The azobenzene moieties as well as the inert cyanobiphenyl mesogenic units were aligned with the molecular long axis perpendicular to the polarization direction of the irradiation light. Alignment induced on short irradiation was reversible, while that induced under prolonged irradiation was irreversible due to the occurrence of crosslinking which might be caused by photoinduced decomposition of the azobenzene moieties during the photoirradiation process. 相似文献

An analytical method was established for the simultaneous determination of 39 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in air. The method was applied to a survey of gaseous and particulate PAHs in household indoor air. The survey was performed in 21 houses in the summer of 1999 and in 20 houses in the winter of 1999-2000 in Fuji, Japan. Thirty-eight PAHs were determined in indoor and outdoor air in the summer, and 39 PAHs were determined in indoor and outdoor air in the winter. The concentrations of gaseous PAHs in indoor air tended to be higher than those in outdoor air in the summer and winter. The concentrations of particulate PAHs in indoor air were the same as or lower than those in outdoor air in the summer and winter. PAH profiles, correlations between PAH concentrations, and multiple regression analysis were used to determine the factors affecting the indoor PAH concentrations. These results showed that gaseous PAHs in indoor air were primarily from indoor emission sources, especially during the summer, and that indoor particulate PAH concentrations were significantly influenced by outdoor air pollution. 相似文献

The UVA is currently thought to be carcinogenic because, similar to UVB, it induces the formation of cyclobutane pyrimidine dimers (CPDs). Various drugs have been reported to cause photosensitive drug eruptions as an adverse effect. Although the precise mechanism of photosensitive drug eruption remains to be elucidated, it is generally accepted that free radicals and other reactive molecules generated via UV‐irradiated drugs play important roles in the pathogenesis of photosensitive drug eruptions. The waveband of concern for photo‐reactive drugs is UVA‐visible light, but some extend into the UVB region. We tested whether photosensitive drugs could enhance CPD formation after UVA exposure by using isolated DNA in the presence of several reported photosensitive drugs using high‐performance liquid chromatography. We found that the diuretic agent hydrochlorothiazide (HCT) significantly enhanced the production of TT dimers over a wide range of UVA. Furthermore, we investigated whether UVA plus HCT could enhance CPD production in xeroderma pigmentosum model mice defective in nucleotide excision repair. Immunofluorescence studies showed that CPD formation in the skin significantly increased after 365 nm narrow‐band UVA irradiation in the presence of HCT, compared with that in wild‐type mice. Telechelic polystyrenes with five benzyl chloride moieties at the polymer end (PSt-E) were prepared by coupling reaction of polystyryllithium with hexakis(4-chloromethyl-phenoxy)cyclotriphosphazene ( 4 ). The coupling reaction occurs almost quantitatively and unfavorable side reactions were not operative. When a mole ratio [ 4 ]/[sec-BuLi] = 9.3 was used, polystyrenes with cyclophosphazene carrying five benzyl chloride moieties at the polymer end (PSt-E) were obtained in more than 90% yield, which have narrow and predictable molecular weights (M w/M n = 1.05). A star shaped polystyrene with phosphazene core could also be prepared by using excess polystyryl anions. 相似文献

In this work, the electronic, structural, dynamic andthermodynamic properties of structure II, H and tetragonalAr clathrate hydrates have been calculated and the effectof multiple occupancy on their stability has been examinedusing first-principles and lattice dynamics calculations.The dynamic properties of these clathrates have beeninvestigated depending on the number of guest moleculesin a clathrate cage. It has been found that selectedhydrate structures are dynamically stable. The calculatedcell parameters are in agreement with experimental data.We also report the results of a systematic investigationof cage-like water structures using first-principles calculations.
