Capillary zone electrophoretic studies of ion association between inorganic anions and tetraalkylammonium ions in aqueous-dioxane media

Ion association between inorganic anions and symmetrical tetraalkylammonium ions, R4N+ (R = Me, Et, Pr, n-Bu, n-Am, and 2-methyl butyl {isoamyl = iAm}) was investigated using ordinary silica capillary by capillary zone electrophoresis. An improved version of the Williams-Vigh method was used for the first time to measure the mobilities of the inorganic anions. Plots of log Kass against log dielectric constant in various media, revealed a smaller change in Kass compared to dielectric constant. These plots suggest that the Bjerrum's equation is inadequate in accounting for the associations of ions in a CZE setup.     

Encapsulation of oligoethylene glycols and perfluoro-n-alkanes in a cylindrical host molecule

Oligoethylene glycols and perfluoro-n-alkanes are suitable guests for the synthetic cylindrical host molecule 1(2); an investigation of these host-guest systems is reported.     

Meson-baryon scattering with SU (3) invariant interactions

The static model invariant under SU₃ is discussed. The baryons and mesons are assigned according to the “eightfold way”, and the Low equation for the scattering matrix is derived. The scattering matric has been diagonalized for arbitrary mixing ofF- andD-type coupling and the crossing matrix has been calculated. To determine the mixing of the two couplings photoproduction cross sections have been calculated. From the comparison of theK ⁺ Λ andK ⁺ Σ0 production cross sections with experiment it follows that α=D/F=3.5. For this value of α the model predicts the 3/2 decublet resonance in very good agreement with the experimental situation.     

Numerical simulation of liquefied fuel spills: II. Instantaneous and continuous LNG spills on an unconfined water surface

A simple numerical model based on the shallow water equations in radial symmetry is used to simulate both instantaneous and continuous spills of liquefied natural gas (LNG) onto a water surface. Using the computed results, a study is made of the similarities and differences in the pool structure resulting from the two types of spills. For instantaneous spills a relation linear on a logarithmic plot is suggested between the maximum pool size and the spill volume. The effects of shear forces and surface cohesivity on the evolution of the spill are also examined.     

Photometrische Bestimmung des Adrenalins mit Dikaliumquecksilber(II)-tetrarhodanid

Zusammenfassung Zur Bestimmung des Adrenalins auf photometrischem Wege wurde eine neue und einfache Schnellmethode ausgearbeitet, die auf der Bildung eines gefärbten Komplexes mit Dikaliummercuritetrarhodanid beruht. Das Absorptionsmaximum liegt um 500 m; das LAMBERT-BEERSche Gesetz ist gültig. Die Erfassungsgrenze beträgt 2 g/ml.
