Nanograin sizes and crystal lattice microstrains in nanocrystalline materials are typically evaluated from the broadening of their x-ray diffraction (XRD) peaks under the assumption of symmetrical diffraction profiles. Since this assumption is not entirely satisfactory, we formulate a line-broadening analysis model of a single peak that considers explicitly the XRD peak asymmetry. The model is a generalization of the variance method in which the shape of the XRD peaks is idealized through asymmetrical split pseudo-Voigt functions. The utilization of a simple focused optical cell to bring to light the competition between wideband stimulated Brillouin scattering (WSBS) and forward stimulated Raman scattering (FSRS) is investigated experimentally. A pulsed, wide bandwidth second-harmonic Nd:YAG laser is used as the pump source. Anomalous behavior of the resistivity at or just below the Néel temperature in antiferromagnetic metals is usually attributed to the formation of superzone gaps. However, we find that RMn12-xFex alloys which have no such gaps exhibit a similarly anomalous resistivity. We show that electron scattering by substitutional spin disorder can account for such behavior of itinerant magnets. This mechanism, which has not been studied before, leads to a relaxation rate that is proportional to x(12-x)m(2), where m is the staggered magnetization. Together with spin fluctuations, phonon, and impurity scattering, it accounts well for the resistivity data we obtain for HoMn12-xFex, for 0< or =x< or =9, in the temperature range of 4 to 400 K. 相似文献

The energy band structure of spin-1 condensates with repulsive spin-independent and either ferromagnetic or antiferromagnetic spin-dependent interactions in one-dimensional (1D) periodic optical lattices is discussed. Within the two-mode approximation, Bloch bands of spin-1 condensates are presented. The results show that the Bloch bands exhibit a complex structure as the atom density of m F=0 hyperfine state increases: bands splitting, reversion, intersection and loop structure are excited subsequently. A non-close-packed three-dimensional photonic crystal of titania hollow spheres has been fabricated. The fabricated process
is based on the silica template technique, thermal sintering, and the sol–gel process. The band-structure calculations and
optical measurements both indicate that a quasi-full three-dimensional photonic bandgap located at the visible wavelength
has been presented between the eighth and ninth bands. This indicates that the non-close-packed structure of titania hollow
spheres was easier to open the complete photonic bandgaps than other face-centered cubic structures made by self-assembling

We propose a new type of Y-branch power splitter and beam expander with scales of microns in two- dimensional (2D) photonic crystals (PCs) by drilling air holes in a silicon slice. Its functionality and performance are numerically investigated and simulated by finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method. Simulation results show that the splitter can split a TE polarized light beam into two parallel sub-beams and the distance between them is tunable by changing the parameters of the splitter, while the expander can expand a narrow beam into a wider one, which is realized in an integrated optical circuit. The proposed device is based on the avoiding of anomalous reflection effect and the coupling transmission of defect modes of the interfaces. 相似文献
