Some new topological cardinal inequalities

In this paper we make use of the Pol-Šapirovski?'s technique to prove several cardinal inequalities, which generalize other well-known inequalities.     

A constructive characterization of the split closure of a mixed integer linear program

Two independent proofs of the polyhedrality of the split closure of mixed integer linear program have been previously presented. Unfortunately neither of these proofs is constructive. In this paper, we present a constructive version of this proof. We also show that split cuts dominate a family of inequalities introduced by Köppe and Weismantel.     

A local strict comparison theorem and converse comparison theorems for reflected backward stochastic differential equations

A local strict comparison theorem and some converse comparison theorems are proved for reflected backward stochastic differential equations under suitable conditions.     

Structure formation and phase behaviour in ferrofluid monolayers: theory and computer simulations

In order to investigate the peculiarities brought by the quasi-2D geometry into the aggregation processes in ferrofluids, a combination of density functional theory (DFT), and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations is presented. Existence and Uniqueness of Fixed Point in Partially Ordered Sets and Applications to Ordinary Differential Equations

We prove some fixed point theorems in partially ordered sets, providing an extension of the Banach contractive mapping theorem. Having studied previously the nondecreasing case, we consider in this paper nonincreasing mappings as well as non monotone mappings. We also present some applications to first–order ordinary differential equations with periodic boundary conditions, proving the existence of a unique solution admitting the existence of a lower solution. Necessary conditions and duality for inexact nonlinear semi-infinite programming problems

First order necessary conditions and duality results for general inexact nonlinear programming problems formulated in nonreflexive spaces are obtained. The Dubovitskii–Milyutin approach is the main tool used. Particular cases of linear and convex programs are also analyzed and some comments about a comparison of the obtained results with those existing in the literature are given.     

Optimization by the Homogenization Method for Nonlinear Elliptic Dirichlet Systems

We study the existence of solutions of control problems relative to a nonlinear elliptic system with Dirichlet boundary conditions. In this problem, the control variables are the coefficients of the equations and the open set where they are posed. It is known that this class of problems has no solution in general, but using homogenization results about elliptic systems we show the existence of solutions when the controls are searched in a bigger set. These results are related to the selection of optimal materials and shapes.     

Singular Measures and Convolution Operators

We show that in the study of certain convolution operators, functions can be replaced by measures without changing the size of the constants appearing in weak type （1, 1） inequalities. As an application, we prove that the best constants for the centered Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator associated with parallelotopes do not decrease with the dimension.
