The hot bimodal fission of 252Cf is reexamined with new high-statistics data. We constructed a γ-γ-γ coincidence cube for binary fission and LCP-gated γ-γ matrix for ternary fission. By identifying the secondary fission fragments from their γ-ray transitions, we measured the yields for various fission splits. The normal neutron yield distribution is found to be
Gaussian for Xe-Ru. However, the binary fission split of Ba-Mo is found to exhibit a bimodal neutron distribution with the
“hot mode” corresponding to ≈3.1% of the total yield. In α ternary fission, the first measurements of yields for specific fission splits are presented. The Te-α-Ru and Xe-α-Mo neutron yields fit well with a single mode, but the Ba-α-Zr split shows evidence for an enhanced hot mode with an intensity of ≈13.8% of the normal mode.

We have used our analysis of γ-γ-γ data (5.7 × 1011 triples and higher folds) taken with Gammasphere from prompt γ rays emitted in the spontaneous fission of 252Cf to study the collective bands in 104,106,108Mo. The one-phonon and two-phonon γ-vibrational bands and known two-quasiparticle bands in neutron-rich 104,106Mo were extended to higher spins. The one-and two-phonon γ-vibrational bands have remarkably close energies for transitions from the same spin states and identical moments of inertia.
Several new bands are observed and are proposed as quasiparticle bands in 104,106Mo, along with the first β-type vibrational band in 106Mo. The quasiparticle bands have essentially constant moments of inertia near the rigid-body value that indicate blocking
of the pairing interaction. Candidates for chiral doublet bands in 106Mo are strong. These are the first reported chiral vibrational bands in an even-even nucleus.

We report on the status of the LPCTrap experiment, devoted to measure the β–ν angular correlation in the pure Gamow–Teller
decay of 6He. This measurement is motivated by the search for the presence of tensor type contributions to the weak interaction. The
6He ions are confined in a novel transparent Paul trap. The β particles and the recoil ions are detected in coincidence to
deduce the angular correlation parameter. The commissioning run performed in 2005 has given the proof of principle of this

Uniform cathode deposits (longer than 15 mm), containing multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) inside, were produced by dc arc discharge evaporation with a computer-controlled feeder of a pure-carbon electrode without a metal catalyst in a He–H2 gas mixture. The purification of MWNTs was carried out to remove amorphous carbon and carbon nanoparticles. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy observations and Raman scattering studies show that the MWNTs possess a high crystallinity and a mean outermost diameter of ∼
∼10 nm. It has been confirmed that the current density in the electron field emission from a purified MWNT mat can reach 77.92 mA/cm2, indicating that the purified MWNTs are a promising candidate electron source in a super high-luminance light-source tube or a miniature X-ray source. 相似文献

A high efficiency launcher of quasi-optical (QO) mode converters for high power gyrotrons have been designed and tested. A
helical cut launcher radiates the RF power via its straight cut onto the first phase correcting mirror. The launchers have
been optimized for the TE31.8 mode at 170 GHz and TE22.6 mode at 110 GHz by numerically optimizing a launcher surface. The helical cut of the launcher has been optimized by taking
the taper angle into account. Further more, the amplitude of the surface perturbation have been optimized for improved focusing
in order to reduce the diffraction losses at the helical cut. Low power measurement shows a good agreement with the design.
High efficiency characteristics of the design have also been calculated on the assumption of frequency downshift due to the
thermal expansion of the cavity and stepwise frequency tuning by changing the operating mode. Besides, the possibility of
high efficiency launcher for higher mode is discussed, and these results give the prospect to high efficiency long pulse gyrotrons. 相似文献

This work proposes and demonstrates the feasibility of gray image encryption using multiple polarization encoding, in which
the cascaded twisted nematic liquid crystal devices sandwiched between a crossed polarizer pair are used to implement exclusive
OR (XOR) logical encryption and decryption. The polarization encoding scheme provides a multichannel XOR logic operation to
secure bit-plane images derived from a gray image, according to the adiabatic following properties of twisted nematic liquid
crystal devices. Experimental data reveal that the multiple polarization encoding schemes for gray image encryption and decryption
are performed with acceptable image quality by selecting appropriate polarization orientation and modulation conditions. Both

The scattering of a hyperthermal Xe from a graphite (0001) surface
has been studied using a molecular beam-surface scattering technique
and molecular dynamics (MD) simulations.
The angular and velocity distributions of scattered Xe atoms
were measured at incidence energies from 0.45 to 3.5 eV,
three incidence angles of 15°, 35° and 60°
and the surface temperatures of 300 K and 550 K.
The observed time-of-flight spectra exhibit a sharp velocity distribution
with only one velocity component, which is ascribed
to the direct inelastic scattering process.
The angle-resolved energy ratios of the mean final translational energy
over the mean incidence energy Ef/Ei agree well
with those predicted based on the assumption of the conservation
of the momentum parallel to the surface.
The Hard-Cube model, where the mass of the cube is approximately 310 u,
has reproduced the angle-resolved flux distributions of scattered Xe atoms.
In the Hard-Cube model
almost 80% of the normal component of the incidence translational energy is found
to be lost in collision.
The MD simulations reproduce well the experimental results
by using the Brenner potential for intralayer C atoms
and a Lennard-Jones potential for interlayer C–C pair interactions. 相似文献
