We consider a closed hypersurface M3?S4(1) with identically zero Gauß–Kronecker curvature. We prove that if M3 has constant mean curvature H, then M3 is minimal, i.e., H=0. This result extends Ramanathan's classification (Math. Z. 205 (1990) 645–658) result of closed minimal hypersurfaces of S4(1) with vanishing Gauß–Kronecker curvature. To cite this article: T. We consider the topological space of all weighted composition operators on weighted Bergman spaces of infinite order endowed with the operator norm. We show that the set of compact weighted composition operators is path connected. Furthermore, we find conditions to ensure that two weighted composition operators are in the same path connected component if the difference of them is compact. Moreover, we compare the topologies induced by L(H) and L(Hv) on the space of bounded composition operators and give a sufficient condition for a composition operator to be isolated.  相似文献

We present a family of first-order functionals which are displacement convex, that is convex along the geodesics induced by the quadratic transportation distance on the circle. The displacement convexity implies the existence and uniqueness of gradient flows of the given functionals. More precisely, we show the existence and uniqueness of gradient-flow solutions of a class of fourth-order degenerate parabolic equations with periodic boundary data. Moreover, positivity of the absolutely continuous part of the solutions is preserved along the flow.  相似文献

In this article we are concerned with the strong stabilization of models for the Reissner–Mindlin plate equations with second sound, that is, models that include thermal effects described according to Cattaneo's law of heat conduction instead of Fourier's law in classical thermoelasticity. Two models will be considered which are distinct with respect to the property of compactness or non-compactness of the resolvent of the generator of the underlying semigroup. In accordance with the compactness or non-compactness of the resolvent operator, a different criterion for strong stability is implemented to achieve the strong stabilization of each model. In the compact resolvent case we avail ourselves of a result given by Benchimol [C.D. Benchimol, A note on weak stabilizability of contraction semigroups, SIAM J. Control Optim. 16 (1978), pp. 373–379] and in the non-compact case we resort to a stability criterion Tomilov [Y. Tomilov, A resolvent approach to stability of operator semigroups, J. A recently introduced fast algorithm for the computation of the first N terms in an expansion of an analytic function into ultraspherical polynomials consists of three steps: Firstly, each expansion coefficient is represented as a linear combination of derivatives; secondly, it is represented, using the Cauchy integral formula, as a contour integral of the function multiplied by a kernel; finally, the integrand is transformed to accelerate the convergence of the Taylor expansion of the kernel, allowing for rapid computation using Fast Fourier Transform. In the current paper we demonstrate that the first two steps remain valid in the general setting of orthogonal polynomials on the real line with finite support, orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle and Laurent orthogonal polynomials on the unit circle.  相似文献

In 1994 Grünbaum showed that, given a point set S in R3, it is always possible to construct a polyhedron whose vertices are exactly S. Such a polyhedron is called a polyhedronization of S. Agarwal et al. extended this work in 2008 by showing that there always exists a polyhedronization that can be decomposed into a union of tetrahedra (tetrahedralizable). In the same work they introduced the notion of a serpentine polyhedronization for which the dual of its tetrahedralization is a chain. In this work we present a randomized algorithm running in O(nlog6n) expected time which constructs a serpentine polyhedronization that has vertices with degree at most 7, answering an open question by Agarwal et al.  相似文献

We study the geometry of homogeneous hypersurfaces and their focal sets in complex hyperbolic spaces. In particular, we provide a characterization of the focal set in terms of its second fundamental form and determine the principal curvatures of the homogeneous hypersurfaces together with their multiplicities.   相似文献
